DM introduces the new Member to the group, nobody knew would come, his backstory, a guy out of our world who just got hit by a truck
In a game I played, a homebrew spell was Flee. The user casts it by dropping anything in their hands, raising them in the air and running away, screaming. Nothing will be able to catch or harm the user and all doors will open in front of them. The downside is that the spell will end immediately if the user tries to pick anything up. The duration of the spell is until the user is completely safe.
The trick is to stow your weapons and other equipment before casting, so you don't lose them when the spell would have made you drop them. Also, no one is ever completely safe, so the spell duration is _indefinite._

My game is focused around a Mage hunting Inquisition here's their cantrip "Interrupt" casting time: 1 reaction, components: Verbal, range: 30 ft if a Caster targets you with a spell they finished casting this round, you may cast this spell on the target caster, speaking in Arcane Gibberish that confuses the caster, they must make a Wis Save DC 13+spell mod, if fail then the spell also fails but the spell slot remains intact, on success the spell casts normally they have a few other antimagic spells, ex a concentration dead magic zone, a spell that makes you target yourself instead, etc.
Ok, but can we just imagine the imagery for the poop one? Your local rouge, after being aproched and challanges by your party, scoops up a handful of dirt. Wispering somthing, he throws a turd at you and runs.
WAIT if you get a wizard with that nuke spell you can use an artificer to make a bomb. So that spell is broken as you create magical nukes that can kill basically anything with an artificer and a wizard.
@@ethsy77 well, wizard wouldn't be the best choice for casting this spell, but sorcerer would: Distant spell is the reason why, so that you can cast it further away and be able to leave the 120 ft zone before it goes off.
@@JosephSmith-lm4ri oh yeah but doubles the range to make the magic nuke 120 ft range but at the same time it takes an hour to cast so it would not be effective in battle so if you have an artificer and a soccer a artificer can infuse that spell into a rocket and a sorcerer can use their sp points to regain that spell and make multiple nukes in a day.

Oooh, I actually really like the soul assimilation spell. Also, Ataxia actually exists in the OG Baldur’s Gate, though the name of the spell escapes me. Wild Mage was a subcategory of Wizard and one of their spells was to randomly cast a spell that you had memorized.

I can imagine a wizard using only these spells: The party is attacked by gnolls in the desert. The wizard says: "WAIT! I've got this!", picks up some sand, and says: "Poop poop poop!" The party escapes the disgusted gnolls. The party is split in a dungeon, and the wizard hears monsters in the darkness. "Ooooh, you shouldn't have done that..." the wizard says ominously, grinning, and pulls an egg out of his pocket. This is glorious.

I had an idea for a Homebrew item. It's a deck of conjured weapons. There's two of every card and each card summons a weapon. The two cards that are different are the Kings blade and the other can summon any weapon. The drawback is that the card only lasts for one encounter

God summon a guy could be really good for a chaotic evil character, just summon a guy then give him a plank of wood with a delayed blast fireball on it and then de summon him
So basically soul assimilation has two very, very niche uses. Either you stand there like an idiot casting it for an hour in the lair of a very sleepy dragon and then poke him. Or you do the same to a demilich concentrating so hard on his magic that he doesn't notice you.
I have a homebrew spell i gave to a drunken gnome as a life event, and it is called "Gradually Slurred" it is verbal and allows you to turn 2 square feet of water into any alcholic beverage of your choice. The name is because as you cast it it becomes gradually slurred.
So, after I watched this I asked my friends if I could use defusion bomb and they said yes. I also created a rule where it increases by a certain amount for every extra hour you charge it. I think it doubled it. Eventually we had to take a city. Sooo... My character sat by the city on a cliff and fired it after 10 hours of charging. The city didn't exist after that.

This inspired me to create my own strange spell, so here it is! The Spell of Many Things 3rd level evocation Range of 50 feet Casting time: one action Components: verbal and material(a deck of cards, or a container holding something unknown to you[the container is opened upon casting]) You force a creature within range to draw a card from the Deck of Many Things(no Deck is needed to cast, this is just the simplest way to describe the effects.) Alternatively, if you cast this spell with a 7th level spell slot you may choose if the outcome is good or bad. You can also use two ninth-level spell slots to hand-pick the effect/card drawn.
Just some idea, haven't worked it out and balanced it yet. Soulsplit: split your soul into an object, the bigger the object, the more soul it can contain. You also split your health with that object. However, you can't die when your soul is split, and every turn you regenerate the amount of health that is in another object. The downside is that your energy is also proportionally drained from you, decreasing your strength by 2 for every 10% of soul you split. The more soul you split, the more disadvantages you get. I need to work this out further, but this idea is what I'm going to use for my BBEG Edit: you can deal damage to that object, and if you deal the health split amount of damage (it can't regenerate itself), the soul leaves and reunites with the original one.
I had an idea for sth like "Magic Suppression" which us basically Antimagic-Lite: Abjuration Level 2, 1 minute, until the object is destroyed V,S,M(an ornate pillow worth at least 10gp) In a zone (10ft radius?) all spells originating from or affecting something in it must be upcast by half the level of the spell slot used to cast the zone, or fail. Cantrips need atleast a level 1 slot to be cast.
I made a survival horror campaign and had the party find a spell scroll of arcane diffusion bomb, and they hung onto it until a huge horde of undead roughly 5,000 in number attacked a settlement that was set up and they used fireballs to draw most of them in on one point and the sorcerer used the scroll and annihilated most of the horde at once. It was awesome
My DM came up with Flashcook. You need a pan (of whatever size) spoon, and hunk of meat that fits in the pan. You tap the pan with the spoon and the meat cooks to perfection. We’ve had it since the first session and have not used it yet, but we’ve tried.
Here's a spell set for you: (3rd level) Mundane Nudity; you focus this spell on a single target who must be clothed and/or armed. The range is 30 ft and requires one to burn a rag and say magic words (verbal, material), and the target then must make a dexterity save at normal DC. If they succeed the spell fails. If they fail all their mundane worn items of apparel and armament are randomly teleported around them in a circle 5 ft distant from them. 5th) Wonderous Nudity; same as above but also targets magic stuff (3rd) Item binding; Can target an item owned (magical or otherwise, clothing or carried possession), casting time is 5 minutes, components are a 100gp valued set of manacles which are consumed by the spell. An item bound thusly cannot be targeted by the above nudity spells. In addition anyone attempting to pick pocket said items or sleight of hand them away from you are at disadvantage as the magical link to the item tugs on the targets perceptions to notice.
The soul steal sounds like something that could be super broken. Until the DM makes all the souls you absorbed rebel against you like some Shang Tsung worst nightmare shit.
All of these might do well with a bit of tweaking, especially the warhead spell. I would suggust it require 3 spellcasters with a 9th level spell slot, only one of them needing this spell prepped, the other two simply burn one to aid in the cast. And if the casting time is interrupted at all, it has a chanxe to blow up in their face.
"Summon a guy" could be really entertaining. As the summoned individual is chosen at random, some examples could include; 1. A buck toothed farmhand from across the meadow armed with a bucket of newly harvested, highly nutritious farm goods (minor healing if consumed) and a pitchfork just recently stuck in manure (Necrotic Damage. Yes, it's just *that* filthy) 2. A Half-Orc lady of the night wielding a strong charm spell and an enchanted whip that forces charmed individuals who are struck to prostrate themselves before her and beg for more. 3. A high ranking politician (lawful evil, naturally) wielding powerful abjuration magic (for reaching especially tenacious tax evaders), and a tax collector's bag of holding (you can chose to receive a random amount of gold, but this also subsequently breaks the summoner's concentration). 4. A morbidly obese Dragonborn shopkeep with a random assortment of wares (all edible items carried by the party is consumed, quality of wares depends on the total HP recovery that the lost food would have provided). These were just the first things that came to mind after hearing him describe the spell. 😆
Here’s a few iv let my players use. Imoviate. Level 2 spell 1 action, verbal and material component Grants the effect of the immovable rod on an item, fixing it in space. Only 1^3 meter of material can be made fixed in space Tie knot. A wizard cantrip with semantic OR verbal that ties a knot of choice or unties a knot but can only be used with hem rope. Summon magic item. The magic item is random and rolled for by DM, if you lose concentration it moves to a different location. Hemokenesis. A 4th level warlock spell Does 1d6 + spell modifier damage to a damaged character as you take a meter of blood out of their wounds. It can travel at 300 miles an hour within 30 feet of the original target, doing 1D4 damage + 1/2 your spell modifier per unique enemy it has hit. (You don’t get any more dice just spell modifier) Once it hits a target it’s path it has to move at least 5 feet from the target and its path can not approach any precious targets. It can only hit each target once and you can stop at any time or slow down the blood’s movement stoping it from doing damage. (For some reason) and rearrange the shape of the blood. Blood can also be accessed from any open singular visible source with at least a gallon of blood, but casting the spell only lets you control a liter. (A villain used it once and I let my warlock have it) Summon to hand. Component semantic and material. 1st level paladin, Casting the spell on an item you are holding lets you as a bonus action return said item to your hand. If broken all pieces will return but the item won’t reassemble. The item flys visible navigating around any obstacle by any means most convenient to it, lockpicks picking locks, axes cutting wooden doors ext, but will not break itself in its attempt. If it finds an impossible barrier it will fall on the ground and wait for its opportunity. Alerting the user of this. If the item has to travel at least 60 feet it’s an action to return and not a bonus action, after which every 60 feet adds a turn until it returns. It will fall on the ground if concentration is interrupted but waiting for it won’t use up actions or bonus actions after the first action.
When you mentioned the magic turds, I immediately thought of Hateful Defecation from Shadow of the Demon Lord: "Hateful Defecation Forbidden Attack 1 Target: One living creature with a physical body within medium range The target’s guts twist and rumble noisily. If the target’s health is 10 or less, it dies instantly, streams of blood and feces gushing from all of its orifices. If its Health is higher than 10, make an Intellect attack roll against the target’s strength. On a success, the target takes 1d6+2 damage and becomes dazed for 1 round, as its guts violently and spectacularly expel their contents. If this damage incapacitates the target, excrement, organs, and blood explode from its body, which instantly brings about its death. Each creature within 2 yards of a point within the target’s space must make a Will challenge roll; on a failure, it becomes impaired for 1 round. Attack Roll 20+ The target takes 1d6 extra damage."
Spell description for EGG Roll 1d6 1= You summon 1d6 eggs 2= You summon 2d6 eggs, roll 2d4 1= North 2= East 3= South 4= West Half of the eggs fly in the direction determined by the first d4, and the other half fly in the direction determined by the second. In the event of an egg impacting a creature that creature must make a Dex save or take 1d6 bludgeoning damage. 3= You summon 1d12 + 2 chickens, these chickens will not follow orders though they will follow you until they die. If there are more than 9 chickens, the chickens are hostile to you. 4= You summon 2d8 hardboiled eggs, which when eaten restore 1d4 hit points. 5= You summon a 10 ft by 5 ft egg. 6= You roll on this table again twice, the results occur as normal.
My personal addition to the DnD world: Stumblespark / 3rd level Evocation / reaction / melee spell You may choose to cast this spell when a successful melee attack has been made against you, but before damage has been rolled. Falling upon your enemy, you unleash a burst of static charge that deals (2d10 + your casting modifier) lightning damage. You and your attacker both make constitution saving throws with a DC of 15. If your enemy fails, they are knocked prone and their attack action is ended. If they succeed, they take half damage and their attack action is ended. If you fail, you take half the damage from Stumblespark. If you succeed, you take none and are pushed backward 10 feet from the shock, acting as a disengage. The spell's damage increases by 1d10 for each level above 3rd it is cast at. If your enemy has an intelligence of at least 7, this spell will only work once per long rest on the same target, as they will be wary of it going forward.
The summoning spell is possibly game-breaking. Like, imagine if the party is trying to find a lich, and they summon him, and ask him to find his phylactery, and then they destroy the phylactery
I just realized that the diffusion bomb has its point of impact be 60ft away but it affects creatures within 120ft of the point of impact. So you would absolutely be affected unless you run away at max speed.
So Egg just nearly caused a TPK for my players. Wild magic sorcerer kept getting sixes until there was 18 eggs (foundry vtt so genuine random rolls) One of those eggs ended up as a 4, and he got three eggs back. The other 17 rolled as 2's and proceeded to deal half my parties health as damage whilst a rain of 91 eggs pelted them near to death. The sorcerer who cast it was knocked unconscious and nearly insta-gibbed as it dealt 3hp off of his max in one go. His wild magic then caused him to cocoon up and later grow butterfly wings. What a spell, what a session.
I wonder if you could use the nuke spell with contingency. I don't remember the exact wording, bit i feel like it would be kinda fun to basically go "if i die, everything else dies too" so the party has to keep you alive
combine the egg spell with prestidigitation. Your opponent can never know if the eggs you are throwing are real or illusions until they're hit. Perfect for bluffing and intimidation. Imagine, the opponent casts two spells and they're arms are now full of eggs. You brush it off as some joke spell but then, they throw an egg, it hits your friend, and he flies back, dying from the blow. Then the enemy pelts you with eggs. You huddle down behind your shield, but you never feel an impact. You peek over your shield, wondering whats going on, only to get sniped by and egg to the head.

I think it's supposed to be like how you can conjure fey or summon a demon from another plane, but instead you summon some guy from your own plane.

@@theuncalledfor Safety means when you aren't currently being chased and stowing your weapons away is preferred, but may take time you don't have.
imagine a dm making it so that everyone with spell slots can cast egg but nobody knows about it.
and since the casting process is literally just to say "Egg" while holding an egg, it sometimes happens on accident.

@@JosephSmith-lm4ri oh yeah but doubles the range to make the magic nuke 120 ft range but at the same time it takes an hour to cast so it would not be effective in battle so if you have an artificer and a soccer a artificer can infuse that spell into a rocket and a sorcerer can use their sp points to regain that spell and make multiple nukes in a day.

Oooh, I actually really like the soul assimilation spell. Also, Ataxia actually exists in the OG Baldur’s Gate, though the name of the spell escapes me. Wild Mage was a subcategory of Wizard and one of their spells was to randomly cast a spell that you had memorized.

I had an idea for a Homebrew item. It's a deck of conjured weapons. There's two of every card and each card summons a weapon. The two cards that are different are the Kings blade and the other can summon any weapon. The drawback is that the card only lasts for one encounter
I would make each weapon last 10 minutes because if you have fights lasting 100 rounds your insane, also you can't really define an encounter in DnD.

So, after I watched this I asked my friends if I could use defusion bomb and they said yes. I also created a rule where it increases by a certain amount for every extra hour you charge it. I think it doubled it. Eventually we had to take a city. Sooo...

This inspired me to create my own strange spell, so here it is!
The Spell of Many Things
3rd level evocation
Range of 50 feet
Casting time: one action
Components: verbal and material(a deck of cards, or a container holding something unknown to you[the container is opened upon casting])
You force a creature within range to draw a card from the Deck of Many Things(no Deck is needed to cast, this is just the simplest way to describe the effects.)
Alternatively, if you cast this spell with a 7th level spell slot you may choose if the outcome is good or bad. You can also use two ninth-level spell slots to hand-pick the effect/card drawn.
Just some idea, haven't worked it out and balanced it yet.
Soulsplit: split your soul into an object, the bigger the object, the more soul it can contain. You also split your health with that object.
However, you can't die when your soul is split, and every turn you regenerate the amount of health that is in another object.
The downside is that your energy is also proportionally drained from you, decreasing your strength by 2 for every 10% of soul you split. The more soul you split, the more disadvantages you get.
I need to work this out further, but this idea is what I'm going to use for my BBEG
Edit: you can deal damage to that object, and if you deal the health split amount of damage (it can't regenerate itself), the soul leaves and reunites with the original one.

I made a survival horror campaign and had the party find a spell scroll of arcane diffusion bomb, and they hung onto it until a huge horde of undead roughly 5,000 in number attacked a settlement that was set up and they used fireballs to draw most of them in on one point and the sorcerer used the scroll and annihilated most of the horde at once. It was awesome
My DM came up with Flashcook. You need a pan (of whatever size) spoon, and hunk of meat that fits in the pan. You tap the pan with the spoon and the meat cooks to perfection. We’ve had it since the first session and have not used it yet, but we’ve tried.

Here's a spell set for you:
(3rd level) Mundane Nudity; you focus this spell on a single target who must be clothed and/or armed. The range is 30 ft and requires one to burn a rag and say magic words (verbal, material), and the target then must make a dexterity save at normal DC. If they succeed the spell fails. If they fail all their mundane worn items of apparel and armament are randomly teleported around them in a circle 5 ft distant from them.
5th) Wonderous Nudity; same as above but also targets magic stuff
(3rd) Item binding; Can target an item owned (magical or otherwise, clothing or carried possession), casting time is 5 minutes, components are a 100gp valued set of manacles which are consumed by the spell. An item bound thusly cannot be targeted by the above nudity spells. In addition anyone attempting to pick pocket said items or sleight of hand them away from you are at disadvantage as the magical link to the item tugs on the targets perceptions to notice.
The soul steal sounds like something that could be super broken. Until the DM makes all the souls you absorbed rebel against you like some Shang Tsung worst nightmare shit.

All of these might do well with a bit of tweaking, especially the warhead spell. I would suggust it require 3 spellcasters with a 9th level spell slot, only one of them needing this spell prepped, the other two simply burn one to aid in the cast. And if the casting time is interrupted at all, it has a chanxe to blow up in their face.
"Summon a guy" could be really entertaining.
As the summoned individual is chosen at random, some examples could include;
1. A buck toothed farmhand from across the meadow armed with a bucket of newly harvested, highly nutritious farm goods (minor healing if consumed) and a pitchfork just recently stuck in manure (Necrotic Damage. Yes, it's just *that* filthy)
2. A Half-Orc lady of the night wielding a strong charm spell and an enchanted whip that forces charmed individuals who are struck to prostrate themselves before her and beg for more.
3. A high ranking politician (lawful evil, naturally) wielding powerful abjuration magic (for reaching especially tenacious tax evaders), and a tax collector's bag of holding (you can chose to receive a random amount of gold, but this also subsequently breaks the summoner's concentration).
4. A morbidly obese Dragonborn shopkeep with a random assortment of wares (all edible items carried by the party is consumed, quality of wares depends on the total HP recovery that the lost food would have provided).
These were just the first things that came to mind after hearing him describe the spell. 😆
Here’s a few iv let my players use.
Imoviate. Level 2 spell 1 action, verbal and material component
Grants the effect of the immovable rod on an item, fixing it in space. Only 1^3 meter of material can be made fixed in space
Tie knot. A wizard cantrip with semantic OR verbal that ties a knot of choice or unties a knot but can only be used with hem rope.
Summon magic item. The magic item is random and rolled for by DM, if you lose concentration it moves to a different location.
Hemokenesis. A 4th level warlock spell Does 1d6 + spell modifier damage to a damaged character as you take a meter of blood out of their wounds. It can travel at 300 miles an hour within 30 feet of the original target, doing 1D4 damage + 1/2 your spell modifier per unique enemy it has hit. (You don’t get any more dice just spell modifier) Once it hits a target it’s path it has to move at least 5 feet from the target and its path can not approach any precious targets. It can only hit each target once and you can stop at any time or slow down the blood’s movement stoping it from doing damage. (For some reason) and rearrange the shape of the blood.
Blood can also be accessed from any open singular visible source with at least a gallon of blood, but casting the spell only lets you control a liter. (A villain used it once and I let my warlock have it)
Summon to hand. Component semantic and material. 1st level paladin, Casting the spell on an item you are holding lets you as a bonus action return said item to your hand. If broken all pieces will return but the item won’t reassemble. The item flys visible navigating around any obstacle by any means most convenient to it, lockpicks picking locks, axes cutting wooden doors ext, but will not break itself in its attempt. If it finds an impossible barrier it will fall on the ground and wait for its opportunity. Alerting the user of this.
If the item has to travel at least 60 feet it’s an action to return and not a bonus action, after which every 60 feet adds a turn until it returns. It will fall on the ground if concentration is interrupted but waiting for it won’t use up actions or bonus actions after the first action.
When you mentioned the magic turds, I immediately thought of Hateful Defecation from Shadow of the Demon Lord:

3= You summon 1d12 + 2 chickens, these chickens will not follow orders though they will follow you until they die. If there are more than 9 chickens, the chickens are hostile to you.

My personal addition to the DnD world:
Stumblespark / 3rd level Evocation / reaction / melee spell
You may choose to cast this spell when a successful melee attack has been made against you, but before damage has been rolled. Falling upon your enemy, you unleash a burst of static charge that deals (2d10 + your casting modifier) lightning damage. You and your attacker both make constitution saving throws with a DC of 15. If your enemy fails, they are knocked prone and their attack action is ended. If they succeed, they take half damage and their attack action is ended. If you fail, you take half the damage from Stumblespark. If you succeed, you take none and are pushed backward 10 feet from the shock, acting as a disengage.
The spell's damage increases by 1d10 for each level above 3rd it is cast at.
If your enemy has an intelligence of at least 7, this spell will only work once per long rest on the same target, as they will be wary of it going forward.

The worst part about Egg is that, with combinations of 6s and other numbers, it's possible to spiral into the infinite.
I just realized that the diffusion bomb has its point of impact be 60ft away but it affects creatures within 120ft of the point of impact. So you would absolutely be affected unless you run away at max speed.

So Egg just nearly caused a TPK for my players.
Wild magic sorcerer kept getting sixes until there was 18 eggs (foundry vtt so genuine random rolls)
One of those eggs ended up as a 4, and he got three eggs back.
The other 17 rolled as 2's and proceeded to deal half my parties health as damage whilst a rain of 91 eggs pelted them near to death.
The sorcerer who cast it was knocked unconscious and nearly insta-gibbed as it dealt 3hp off of his max in one go.
His wild magic then caused him to cocoon up and later grow butterfly wings.
What a spell, what a session.

combine the egg spell with prestidigitation. Your opponent can never know if the eggs you are throwing are real or illusions until they're hit. Perfect for bluffing and intimidation. Imagine, the opponent casts two spells and they're arms are now full of eggs. You brush it off as some joke spell but then, they throw an egg, it hits your friend, and he flies back, dying from the blow. Then the enemy pelts you with eggs. You huddle down behind your shield, but you never feel an impact. You peek over your shield, wondering whats going on, only to get sniped by and egg to the head.
