Do you see any issues with a player plus neck replacement going into a player plus body? I’m hoping for a clean 4 screw job with some wax. Your vid was the best I’ve seen on neck replacements

Great video as usual! I would be interested to know what your prefered process is to fix stripped out strap button holes. And is it different from guitar to guitar.

I drill them out just enough to remove all the threads, shape a dowel to fit snuggly, dip in Titebond wood glue, let dry over night, chisel off excess dowel, fill in with ca glue, redrill.

Did you get that DA sander at HF?

Do you feel that sanding down your maple dowel to the size of the hole yields a better result than measuring the depth of the holes and widening those out with a drill bit the size that the dowel was prior to sanding? I'm not saying it does it doesn't; I'm not a luthier. I'm just curious.

Nope, I just enjoy making the dowel fit. If the pre drilled holes in the neck were threaded, then your way would have been better for sure. But you would need a dowel that is pretty close to the original size. As a general rule I leave as much of the original material as possible when I do anything to a guitar. It would probably be ok to have some leeway on that though.

Do you put brass inserts on your necks so you can use machine screws to bolt it down with? I literally JUST finished my first partscaster tele build and that's what I opted with. I was super worried about making any mistakes when installing the inserts, but it went in with no issues at all.

I don’t see the need to do that, but there is nothing wrong trying different things

@@jed_shred_guitars since it was my first build, I was worried I might have to take the neck off and on a few extra times; and with machine screws it would make that process faster while always maintaining that tight connection. That was my thought process anyway.

Do you work on any viewer guitars? How can I get my guitar to you if so?

I haven’t yet. If you are in the Portland Oregon area I’d be happy to. I see too many broken guitars come in shipping to feel comfortable with that. If you are local reach out to me on my Instagram @jed_shred
