I love mine great bit of kit ,and the multi cam blends in so well in UK winter woodland I've found, and them fleece lined pockets are a god sent some times
Actually the MTP works better most times of year than I expected. When I 1st saw it, I hated it but I did some testing with a MTP basha earlier in the year and its pretty good. 👍
How things have improved, 90s kit was shite and remember wearing my camo waterproof jacket over my uniform, which after a while felt like you had more water inside then out, with the sweating. If we were undertaking any NBC training and had to wear our NBC suits the good old charcoal lined ones, non waterproof, and the weather was bad if you wanted to wear your waterproof jacket, you had to wear it underneath your NBC suit and yep due to NBC training you could not take it off.
Looks like a great upgrade from the old style dpm smock. It's a shame they didn't just add a zip or at least some velcro by them hand warmer pockets 🤷♂️
Now was that straight down rain or side ways rain. Looks an improvement mate my wife will want one now and my wallet don't like the day light. Take care my friend. 😎🐺☮️👍
So if the new windproof smock is actually very water resistant too why do you choose to wear the smock in winter and just the goretex in summer? Wouldn’t the goretex been even sweatier in summer as it’s supposed to be less ‘breathable’ than the smock? Interesting that the goretex is supposed to be worn under the smock? Although there are some vids showing some pockets on the goretex jackets, but your right that it doesn’t make sense for a soldier to put a goretex jacket over his smock when he needs rapid access to all the pockets on the smock 🤔 I didn’t even know this, I assumed the rain layer would go over the wind layer
Although for civilian bushcraft/survival/hiking use I would still prefer the goretex to go over the top of everything else, but since the smock is so water resistant I might just get the smock and wear it under my poncho, if the smock is that water repellent then only the forearm sleeves would stick out of the poncho and get wet, and I assume simply water proof spraying the sleeves in winter would make them virtually waterproof as the goretex while the rest of the windproof smock gives more breath ability?
@@impermanenthuman8427 The only issue with most of the waterproofing sprays is that they do affect the amount the fabric breathes (regardless of what they claim). I go with the GorTex for summer because its light and packs small. Early ones had chest pockets but later they scrapped that idea and it now just has a pocket on each sleeve. Both jackets are good depending on how they are used. The smock is a decent cut, so in winter you can use something like a light down jacket under it if its very cold. Regards JB.

@@jim-bob-outdoors totally agree mate most of my kits in MTP ,and even my stealth tent
Nice when a piece of kit does what it should 😀👍👍
Yes, quite happy with it at the moment.
Absolutely great 👍

Yes its certainly a step in the right direction. I prefer the feel of my old one from 94 but its not as water proof. 👍
Good smock Jim, plenty of storeage space and tough a sold boots! Certainly keeps the wind off and the hood is decent. thanks for posting mate.
I was not sure at 1st because I love my old one from 94, but its growing on me. 👍
@@jim-bob-outdoors it will soften up in time mate. you always get attached to old ones, they get the worn in feeling and just fit! All best mate.

I am quite impressed. 👍

It did better than I expected. Hope you are keeping well. JB.
Seems more waterproof than mine but mine was issued and nicely worn in.
Might be worth re-water proofing it. 👍
@@jim-bob-outdoors on it as we speak... I'm out camping on Friday and want to take it with me 👍
@@BurtonOutdoors Have fun mate. 😎😁
