Divergent was AMAZING, insurgent and Allegiant are also amazing but the ending will probably surprise most. I did the 'aptitude' test in the back of the book and my mom scored Erudite, my brother Candor and I scored Dauntless and we were all blown away by how accurate the test was for each of us.
I really enjoyed the book. It took a while to get into it, but once things livened up I really got involved. I think I might choose abnegnation and just sort of live on the outskirts and do my own thing. Abnegnation seems like the best place to hide. But given what Tris' mom said about the divergents and abnegnation it might not be the best idea.
I thought the same thing with the factions but you have to reaize that it woud be a totally diffrent choice if you were raised as one faction for as long as you remember. In our world people have the freedom to be smart and kind. You could say most of us are raised as divergents. :)
I personally think this book was terrible. Its starts really exciting and promising but as the plot crawled forward the flaws just keep stacking up till I just had to stop reading. I dident agree with her choices nor did I like the side characters. But the biggest problem was the factions. Since when is it considered brave to have a tattoo?! Why are erudite perpetually reading? Why don't the factionless start their own faction? The point im making is that the factions made no sense whatsoever. Im sorry for venting but this book upset me so much and I wanted it to be good so bad.
omg, thanks! you explained it so well. this book was terrible to me too. and the writing itself was so unflattering. I was just not convinced that such factions could work as a government, to me everything just seemed implausible. and when a book is like that it is just bad.
Euradite, no so much because im exceedlingly intelligent but because i blame stupidity for everything wrong in the world (also because i like to act as if im a genius)
I think I would be amity, I feel like there's no attacks and it's the calmest place. I'd say abnegation but I'm not so selfless that I just go over the top with blandness
I really enjoyed this book, but yeh I agree your point about the villains. If I had to pick a faction I'd say Erudite despite what they do(If you've read it you'll know what I'm talking about)
I want to say Dauntless but after reading about the initiation they have to go through, I'm not sure if I would be physically cut out for it! I'd just choose Amity.
every books' comment, always thres someone bashing for no reason cause thyre a huge fan of this and that i wish i never read comments when i was going to read a book
I really enjoyed Divergent, I read the book in one read and I have reread it several times, but then again im really into Dystopian themed books at the moment. I dont really know what faction I'd belong to, when I read the book they all seemed sort of bad, but I guess Erudite.
The quiz at the end of the book said I would be amity :) I also loved the training sequences, but felt the characters were flat and much too simple. Most characters were good or evil with not a lot of in between. The romance seemed forced as well.
When i read the book, I would have chosen Erudite at the initiation ceremony. After that... not so much. I don't know what else I would choose though. I'm not selfless, or brave or peaceful and I don't know if I could be honest enough for Candor. Maybe Dauntless, but that might only be because of Tris.
I honestly don't know. I wouldn't be able to make it thought the candor initiation, amity it doesn't really say much about, dauntless I would probably wind up dead before initiation is over, abnegation I'm always gonna be selfish a little bit, and I don't much about erudite either so haha I don't know. If I HAD to choose it would be dauntless
@oogellyboogelly it means February since that was when she started making videos for Nextup. Also, sorry, it's spelled 'Helmiku' (at least I think so anyway). She made anvienabout it actually!
I really did like this book and it never got boring although I never stayed up til the peek of the morning trying to finish it. It had lots of excitement and there was always something going on; never pages where she's just sitting there, or the same thing happens every day. I had a little complication with visualizing how the "world" looked and how close or far apart the factions were. The characters were put together well and I was glad that the romance wasn't cheesy. Probably an 8 our of 10
They’re similar, but crucial details and pacing of the relationship is not timed as good as the book but there’s nothing you can do about that. Have to meet a time limit.
I loved the book! Four/Tobias was my favorite character, along with Tris and Christina :D If i had to choose a faction, i think i would probably go for the Amity, or Abnegation.
I'd probably choose Candor, the initiation test scares the heck out of me but I would appreciate the honesty and openness of the faction. I'm kind of a Ravendor. The sorting hat asked me to choose between the two houses but I quite happily chose Ravenclaw. I originally thought I was more of a Ravenpuff though.
i found out about this book a few weeks ago, thanks to GoodReads, and you describe it in a way that gets me interesting in it. i plan on reading it after i finish the Hunger Games trilogy.
I really loved this book though. It took me a little while to get into it, but once I was passed chapter 10, I couldn't put it down. I'm not a big reader, but I read about 4/5 of the book in about 8 hours. It's addicting.
I haven't read the book, but if I had to guess what faction I'd be a part of I would say Amity. For the most part I go out of my way to avoid conflict and I've always tried to keep the peace of whatever group I happen to be a part of.
I really enjoyed this book, it's not perfect and as a character Tris doesn't grab me as early or as hard as say Katnis does in Hunger Games, but I can't wait to see how the story develops in Insurgent. In Hunger, while I loved Katnis the entire time, I was disappointed some in the story line as it developed in books two and three, so I'm hoping this story will carry me through the books to come.
I'd probably say Amity or Erudite. On Pottermore & since I read Prisoner of Azkaban, I've always identified as a Ravenclaw so I guess Erudite is probably closest to that, but I find it kind of hard to believe that "intelligence" is a personality trait. All of the other factions can definitely be considered as a part of someone's personality, but is anyone really inherently wise or intelligent? I don't know, as I said, I do consider myself a Ravenclaw but it's something I've always thought about.
Good Review, was interested to see how other people viewed Divergent. Personally I had several problems with the book, I just could not like Tris throughout, and several of the characters came across as cheap to me. At the end of the day it was a cliche story, when I eventually read the second book I hope it will be much better.
When I read the book, I didn't realize it took place in Chicago until Tris and Caleb meet under the bean, and I was really confused because I didn't think it was supposed to be a real place.
All kinds of books I read and the movies that have been created based or semi based on those books,I think divergent is an attempt to liven soon accept and disturbing novel: a happy world, to read the 6 years , personality a can tell you that learning to label people irrevocably is the most common way to talk about the insecurity generated by the same stereotypes of people, wich in divergent been added battles, special effects and use the most complex assemblies no longer get an idea of tracking a laboratory test already accepted earlier.
I really enjoyed this book. I did a Divergent Tag and one of the questions was what faction do we think we would belong in. I narrowed mine down to Dauntless and Erudite. I think every other faction would kick me out!! haha
Pffft faction? I'm divergent. ;) But I really loved the book! Insurgent is my favorite of the two. At first I thought it was just a Hunger Games knockoff, with the dystopian universe and fire circle thing on the front, but it's fairly different. I really enjoyed both series. I can't wait for the next one!
Adding that to my to-read list for this summer, together with across the universe. Thanks to you i need to recede my closet space and expand my bookshelf haha!
If I could decide, then I would want to be in Erudite. But if not, and just based on my personality, I would be Candor. I like to be around honest people, and I myself am so honest that I need to take care of my words. I always need to remind myself that some people are a bit sensitive.
Divergent was a great read, I was hooked when reading it! It is extremely hard to pick a faction though, I'd want to be Dauntless, but I dont feel 'brave' enough, never Abnegation, Erudite sound too overconfident, Amity is, well, sweet. So as you said, it's difficult to pick or divide people into strict categories.
after some thought i have decided on Candor, which would not be very restrictive, the selfless could get used by the brave and although honourable the selfless wouldnt last long, the dauntless i imagine to be militarized, the peaceful might not get much done and i see as almost dope heads haha and the Erudite could be like timelords very clever, rulers even but dangerous too
I liked the book but it took FOREVER to get into, I didn't really start enjoying it until Chapter 20 but was promised it was similar to The Hunger Games and didn't want to put it down. Also, a lot of the "shocking" cliffhangers were really obvious, and I agree that the antagonists were too over the top, some of the insults were unbelievably childish. But it got a lot better and I'm looking forward to the next book.
Are you from Finland? D; Anyways I've been dying to read this book for so long, but I think it hasn't been released here yet ('cause I live in Finland, and I've never seen it anywhere). Great review btw, I think I need to find it some other ways than just walking to the store hah.
Actually, @apeckofowls, the series couldn't have gone without the romance of Tris and Four because in Invergent, that romance and connection between them is very important and relevant.
I loved this book! I read it was a sign I was really into it. It was a really enjoyable read but I think enjoyment is as deep as it got which is okay of course. As for factions I think Candor. Living one's life as openly and honestly as they do in Candor has a lot of appeal for me.
I just started Divergent but I agree on the discussion about factions vs personnality. To me it seems kind of obvious that nobody tunrs out the way ther were raised and that we all have different sides to our personnality, so the fact that Beatrice was all exceptionnal and wow divergent feels weird to me.
I would probably be Amity. Peace is my thing, and I can't argue or be mean or I'll feel terrible about it and start crying. I have cried multiple times after I've been mean to someone. A lot of people tell me it's a major fault of mine.
ohh now i want to read the book.:)) as to in which faction i would want to be..well i think maybe peaceful? maybe because well there are times when you just can't be peaceful..i don't know,it's very hard as it is with the houses on harry potter..you can narrow them down but you can never be exactly sure..:)
What about the faction"fantasy book lover"? That's what this kind of book is. I like the old novel Star Bridge for instance, but I wouldn't call myself simply "dauntless" or sci-fi lover. Seems very limiting to categorize ourselves as this or that when we are all so much more wonderfully complex
If you don't like dreams as devices, you wouldn't like the Icelandic Sagas. They're full of dreams of blood and witches and stuff. I think that's awesome. But I agree, it can be cheap if it's used too much and too obviously. I haven't read Divergent yet, but it's definitely on my to-read list. It sounds very interesting.
I really loved divergent, i thought there was some great character development, and i just found the plot and characters all really interesting. For some reason i found tris kind of hard to warm to, but maybe thats just me. im pretty sure I would be amity
I've just started reading Divergent, it's really good! :D While listening to your review, I thought that I'd be either Abnegation or Erudite, but now, after reading the book, I don't think I'd be Abnegation! Now, I'd probably be in either Erudite or Amity, more likely Amity :)
I think I would of been born Candor and might stay in that faction but the thought of Amity intrigues me. Dauntless is way too extreme for me and I wouldn't be able to keep up. Abnegation is not for me because I'm too selfish and at first I liked the idea of Erudite but I don't like that they use their knowledge for greed and to out do one another.
I really liked Divergent but I really loved the Hunger Games series. When my mom told me she thought it wasn't a series then I found out there is a series. I was soooo happy!! I love Four and Tris!! :)
I loved that book! I read it in the middle of last year (school year) and then gave it to my sister. She read it and was also a fan. So much so that she bought Insurgent on her Kindle immediately after. I have not read Insurgent yet but as soon as I finish my summer reading I will start on it! :) I believe I would....hmmm, I'll make a mix. I think I would fit comfortably into abnegity :P What about you?
their are three books it is a trilogy oh a book you should read is CLOCKWORK ANGEL series its also a trilgoy like i think its clockwork angle, clockwork prince, and clockwork princess
I think... As the person I am now, I'd probably end up being factionless. I'd WANT to end up in Dauntless or Amity, but I can't imagine conforming to a single set of rules for my whole life... But I guess that's kind of the point. I had a lot of beef with Tris throughout the whole thing about her frequent stupidity and cruelty (not to mention that my favorite character was Will).
I think that this book is a bit similar to The Hunger Games, just reading it at some points did remind me of The Hunger Games, and i think i might be Erudite
I found a Quiz for the factions on the facebook page for this book. For everyone who has read the book, it is like the apptitude test. Dauntless and Amity if that makes any sense to anyone else! =P
As with Harry Potter where I'm something of a Gryffinpuff it goes the same with Divergent. I'm somewhere in between of Amity and Dauntless which may come of as completely opposite :)). I was gonna go for Abnegation but I am not THAT selfless. :D I really liked the book, really looking forward to see where Roth will take it. Great Review ^_^
I loved the whole series, it's pretty well written and it's not predictable at all. No one can see the Insurgent-Caleb thing coming (trying to avoid a spoiler here). Personally I think I'm Dauntless-cum-Erudite
I think that I would be in the Eurdite faction and I have read all hunger games all harry potters and the finisher but I wont to know the realationship between any of the books
I would be Dauntless all the way. I'm not exactly brave, but I'm way too aggressive for Amity, I lie too much to be Candor, I'm too selfish for Abnegation which seems real boring anyways, and I hate smart snobs like the Erudite. Plus, I love the idea of jumping off buildings and shooting guns and all that fun stuff the Dauntless do.
I would be Amity, seems like the easiest and most rewarding faction to be in
Yeah same
gets raided XD
Same
They drug the bread
Divergent was AMAZING, insurgent and Allegiant are also amazing but the ending will probably surprise most. I did the 'aptitude' test in the back of the book and my mom scored Erudite, my brother Candor and I scored Dauntless and we were all blown away by how accurate the test was for each of us.
Which book was it in the back of?
XxTheBestMoexX :D this is a really late response but it’s somewhere at the end of Divergent you’ll have to look in the pages of the book
I loved this book! I am reading the second book right now and I think it is really good. I think I would belong in Dauntless or Erudite.
I really enjoyed the book. It took a while to get into it, but once things livened up I really got involved. I think I might choose abnegnation and just sort of live on the outskirts and do my own thing. Abnegnation seems like the best place to hide. But given what Tris' mom said about the divergents and abnegnation it might not be the best idea.

wuuaaa holliii shiit this is so pretty said, thank youu, im blesssed by the way you put those words together, omg
stayed up till 2 and finished divergent!! that’s how good it is!!
I think that despite their corruption in the book, I'd like to be Erudite.
I just finished the book . I cried a lot . Absolutely my new favorite book series
Im sorry for venting but this book upset me so much and I wanted it to be good so bad.
maybe I will and you'll be the first to know if I do, but I don't see myself rereading a book that upset me first time round.
omg, thanks! you explained it so well. this book was terrible to me too. and the writing itself was so unflattering. I was just not convinced that such factions could work as a government, to me everything just seemed implausible. and when a book is like that it is just bad.
Another thing is if people can switch factions wouldn't that make them divergent as well? This concept was not very well thought out.
Vinnie J is OK i like it a little more than i thought i was going to but after i finish reading it am going to take it to my Half Price Books
Vinnie J if you read the whole series you would understand. I don't want to spoil anything but all the flaws in their society make sense in the end.
@asergium Yup, listen to the part where I say her name and look at the lips. :D
I really enjoyed this book, but yeh I agree your point about the villains. If I had to pick a faction I'd say Erudite despite what they do(If you've read it you'll know what I'm talking about)
I would probably choose Amity or Erudite.
I would absolutely be dauntless. I love this trilogy, i will always love these books.
I would be Amity or Candor because of what happens
I don't know why I have this book waiting on my shelf. I'm going to pick it up after I finish with the book I'm currently reading:) Great review!
How is this just like the hunger games?
Ramon Hernandez bruh exactly! (also sorry for being 6 years late)
@@ashglade9680 hahah omg this is so funny 😂 (anyways sorry for being a year late)
I want to say Dauntless but after reading about the initiation they have to go through, I'm not sure if I would be physically cut out for it! I'd just choose Amity.
I absolutely love this book, I randomly picked it up at chapters because the cover looked cool. And now I'm totally pumped for Insurgent in May!
I just got a copy of divergent at Barnes and Noble I am excited to read it
every books' comment, always thres someone bashing for no reason cause thyre a huge fan of this and that
i wish i never read comments when i was going to read a book
Abnegation would probably be my choice as I always think of others. But I was also thinking Candor- this is why I'm a Hufflepuff in Hogwarts haha!
Read Divergent over the summer. It was pretty good.
I was simaltaniously watching this and looking at your GoodReads page... I regret nothing.
Reminds me so much of the hunger games
I honestly don't know. I wouldn't be able to make it thought the candor initiation, amity it doesn't really say much about, dauntless I would probably wind up dead before initiation is over, abnegation I'm always gonna be selfish a little bit, and I don't much about erudite either so haha I don't know. If I HAD to choose it would be dauntless
I've been recommended this book as well, but I have yet to read it. It does sound like a great story, though. Great review!
@oogellyboogelly it means February since that was when she started making videos for Nextup. Also, sorry, it's spelled 'Helmiku' (at least I think so anyway). She made anvienabout it actually!

Probably an 8 our of 10
It seems easy to be Amity.
Is it same with the movie ? Coz i just watched it but so many people said it's different with the book
But i never read the book
they are kind of different but mostly the same until you get to the third movie Allegiant was not at all like the books
They’re similar, but crucial details and pacing of the relationship is not timed as good as the book but there’s nothing you can do about that. Have to meet a time limit.
i think i would choose dauntless, but it would be pretty hard to go through the initiation process haha
I loved the book! Four/Tobias was my favorite character, along with Tris and Christina :D

i found out about this book a few weeks ago, thanks to GoodReads, and you describe it in a way that gets me interesting in it. i plan on reading it after i finish the Hunger Games trilogy.
I had this book in my hand in the bookshop today but I put it back down. Now that I've watched this I'm going back tomorrow and buying it.
Erudite, Dauntless, Candor and Abnegation (all of them actually!!! :D)
You forgot amity
I really loved this book though. It took me a little while to get into it, but once I was passed chapter 10, I couldn't put it down. I'm not a big reader, but I read about 4/5 of the book in about 8 hours. It's addicting.

@oogellyboogelly It's actually Helmikuu and I believe it's February in Finnish
Pffft faction? I'm divergent. ;)
But I really loved the book! Insurgent is my favorite of the two.
At first I thought it was just a Hunger Games knockoff, with the dystopian universe and fire circle thing on the front, but it's fairly different.
I really enjoyed both series.
I can't wait for the next one!
Divergent is my favourite book of all time...Like, it's my favourite thing under the sun. I love it so much!! SQUEAL...
You had me at "training montage"! I have to read this :)
Adding that to my to-read list for this summer, together with across the universe. Thanks to you i need to recede my closet space and expand my bookshelf haha!

I can't deiced between Dauntless and Erudite but I'm not sure I'd fit any of them enough to be in them.
are you planning on doing a review of the final book?
is it possible to be both goodlooking, cool and intelligent and without makeup?
Divergent was a great read, I was hooked when reading it! It is extremely hard to pick a faction though, I'd want to be Dauntless, but I dont feel 'brave' enough, never Abnegation, Erudite sound too overconfident, Amity is, well, sweet. Is the language of the book easy for 13 year olds ?
Yeah

Almos finished this book, I love it! I think I'd be Candor or Erudite :)
I can't decide between those two. :)
Lol what's with the Finnish in the end?
they were talking about the video not the book
ohh now i want to read the book.:))
as to in which faction i would want to be..well i think maybe peaceful? maybe because well there are times when you just can't be peaceful..i don't know,it's very hard as it is with the houses on harry potter..you can narrow them down but you can never be exactly sure..:)

I think Amity...that one is the only one you don't really hear about, though. I believe it's going to be a trilogy.
I really loved divergent, i thought there was some great character development, and i just found the plot and characters all really interesting. For some reason i found tris kind of hard to warm to, but maybe thats just me. im pretty sure I would be amity
Probably Amity. I am quite peaceful and living in a place with no strife would be great for me.
I've just started reading Divergent, it's really good! :D
While listening to your review, I thought that I'd be either Abnegation or Erudite, but now, after reading the book, I don't think I'd be Abnegation!
Love your book reviews Sanne! :)
Sorry, but this is what online dictionaries say: ˈkæn dər
Best book i have ever read!!! I am a slow reader but i finished this book in about a week!! Now i have to go buy insergent!
I think I would fit comfortably into abnegity :P What about you?
i did the quiz at the end of the book and i am abnegation. i wish i could be dauntless, but there is no way i would survive initiation!
Amity, Dauntless. Don't seem to go together really but I don't fit any of the others haha.
their are three books it is a trilogy oh a book you should read is CLOCKWORK ANGEL series its also a trilgoy like i think its clockwork angle, clockwork prince, and clockwork princess
One of my favorite books I've ever read, and definitely Amity :)
As long as you like being on drugs 24/7. They drug the food with a peace serum.
I did the quiz at the end of the book (although it was very obvious which choice led to which faction) and I got Candor.
OMG DID YOU JUST SAY "HELMIKUU" !!!! Did you speak finnish??
I found a Quiz for the factions on the facebook page for this book. For everyone who has read the book, it is like the apptitude test. Dauntless and Amity if that makes any sense to anyone else! =P
As with Harry Potter where I'm something of a Gryffinpuff it goes the same with Divergent. I'm somewhere in between of Amity and Dauntless which may come of as completely opposite :)). I was gonna go for Abnegation but I am not THAT selfless. :D
I really liked the book, really looking forward to see where Roth will take it.
Great Review ^_^
My quiz said Divergent, but Dauntless and Amity were my biggest strengths. Which is weird, cause how can you be peaceful and a soldier?? lol
I think I'd be either Amity or Erudite, which is what everyone else seems to be saying as well
I would be Dauntless all the way.
