It's nice that this description is catching on. Conceptualising Homestuck as an American parallel to something like, I dunno, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, makes way more sense than categorising it as a webcomic.
Hey Michael, this video is such an incredible blast from the past. Wonderful recap of the team! Working with y'all during this will forever be a high point in my life. I frequently remember that SXSW we were all together crunched in your bedroom practicing your music. Kali and I being your "photographers" to get into the venue. I wasn't 21 so I literally couldn't go to SXSW officially so I remember just wandering Austin for that week. I remember getting my high school percussion ensemble to play a live version of Sburban Jungle! Still surprised I convinced my band director to let us do it. Your production on Gust of Heir brought it to life. I was out of my league production wise and was honestly terrified of DAWs. I dedicated more time to studying composition/writing for ensembles and felt too far behind but you, Eric, RJ, and all helped keep me involved. I really appreciate the kind words about Sburb. I still love what I was able to write when I was 16-17. Gotta get back at it one of these days. I value our friendship and all the meaningful and silly memories we made in that forum, those skype groups, and in person. Thank you.
I love hearing you talk abt Chain of Prospit. Ive always sucked at cheering people up and ive sent them that before as like. A motivator. Bc it was motivating to me.
I super enjoyed this! Thank you for reminding me of "Chain of Prospit". That song always resonated with me, and I got to share it with a friend who needed it as well
Getting to hear about some history of what has essentually been the source of all background music ive listened to the past year was really cool! cool panel, was very nice to listen to! ill be looking foward to that album
What a nostalgia trip (and hadron kaleido). 2010-2013 was a crazy time in my life and the people I met through the Homestuck fandom (and the music team fandom in particular) helped me through a lot of it. Still friends with some of them to this day.
I'm so glad youtube recommended this to me, oh gosh! I became a huge homestuck fan in 2011/2012, and I stayed until the end - though the music stayed with me for much longer, I still listen to it to this day, it's such a big part of my life. Thank you so much for this trip down the memory lane, it's so cool to hear you talk about it!
You beating Neil Cicierega to the punch on the joke of "Bustin'" is a treat I have loved Neil's work for a long time and realizing you did it first was very entertaining. It's one of those things that makes me long for him to collaborate with others on making music, and for him to collaborate with you in particular.
You have no idea how gleeful I was seeing my questions answered first omg!! "Maybe later" isn't a "No" so I will patiently wait for this "Free Bird" cover, whenever this potential "later" may come up. :^) Much love, Mr. Bowman
For anyone who said during the livestream that they wanted to see the live performances of songs from Ithaca mentioned during the panel, there are actually 2 videos of clips from the shows uploaded to Bowman's channel called SXSW Rehearsals Part 1 and Part 2
I still listen to HS music. Its my favorite music to listen to when drawing. I still remember the days where tumblr blew up every time an update came out and how fast people would make cosplays to match those updates. Thanks for the music!! Dawn of Man is still my favorite by you!
I don't speak English that well, because it's not my mother tongue (I am from Ukraine) but still here I am, haha. HS Music was the first thing that got me into the webcomic. Histories behind productions of tracks are reeeeally interesting (At least for me. I am a HS music nerd lmao) I especially adore Homestuck Vol.8 and 9. Your musical contributions to the comic are really important and impressive to this day. Just want to say - thank you very much. I really mean that. I wish you success in everything.
been following your stuff back since the beginning my dude, keep it up. I can't wait for the new album. I listen to you stuff all the time, I was even listening to Like Clockwork, that duet you did with the vocaloid on Lightyears ages ago, I love that track a ton. And if you ever make more pony music, you let us know Immediately.
hey Bowman do you think if the homestuck 2 team would be looking for musicians for another album for homestuck 2 do you think you would tag in to make some music for it? Other then that question I really like the new albums you've been releasing a lot of really great songs to listen to while on the road
YOOOO, sburban jungle, zillyhoo, how do I live and I don’t wanna miss a thing was all made by one guy? Based (how do I live and don’t wanna miss a thing the best songs btw)
Homestuck is not a webcomic, it is a dozen beautiful albums in a trench coat
describing homestuck as a visual novel is so based
You did so yourself
It's nice that this description is catching on. Conceptualising Homestuck as an American parallel to something like, I dunno, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, makes way more sense than categorising it as a webcomic.
i'm so glad about hearing more of your thoughts on Mobius trip and Hadron Kaleido, it's i think my favorite album from homestuck!!
i’m not even into homestuck anymore, just came here for michael because i love his music.
Homestuck music deserves sooo much more recognition and love.

It's so he could save a LOT of money

I hate warhammer of zillyhoo so much I love it.
Bowman spent all this time creating rock albums when his true calling was making pony music.
i thought hussie used they/them?
It's not an exception if he let you do so that many times lmao.
