Hi Khanh. Your videos were really helpful. I am really interested in becoming an optometrist but I heard the dept is too much and their salary isn't high, is this true? Do you know what's the average salary of an optometrist? How much do they make in private setting? SO they make more than software engineers? Cuz I am really interested in both of these field and debating between both. Plz answer!
This is so interesting to hear how other schools' costs are broken down! For us, rent is at least double ($1240 for me and I'm on the low end... :') but hey note service (Co-op notes) is free lollll
Like I said, we got really lucky! We spent a LOT of time looking for places to live haha. I highly recommend renting out condos because they’re a lot cheaper than apartments!☺️
Hi, just wanna know how did you know that you want to be an opto? and what did you do after high school, did you went straight and look for school colleges or vacation? Thanks:)
When you get accepted, they’ll include a folder of all your financial options and every school has a financial advisor! They’ll help you figure everything out. Me personally, I applied via FAFSA!
I can see how after looking at the prices you’d want to get a part time job but I don’t recommend working as a waitress - especially 20 hours a week. You need your weekend to rest and study! If anything maybe just a more physically/mentally relaxing job like babysitting for 3-4 hours a week (that’s what I do!)
Hi Khanh! This video was a lot helpful. Do we get enough financial aid from university to afford Optometry school? My parents don't work and I am worried whether I will get enough financial aid to afford all these expenses.
Unfortunately we don't get financial aid for optometry school :( We just get student loans which they consider "financial aid" haha. But don't be worried about the financials because you'll be able to pay off your loans once you graduate! I take out all the loans myself. It's not too much of a heavy burden tbh compared to your salary. Work really hard to get into a public school so you don't have to pay double the amount for private optometry schools!
@@KhanhTon, I haven't taken student loans in my undergrad. Does the university offer us a fixed amount of financial aid (loan) or do we get a chance to ask for more financial aid?
At my university you are offered ~40k and you can chose to take out that exact amount or less. I never take the full amount and take out only what I need! If you need more, you can apply for external private loans. Once you get accepted there are financial advisors at every school that will help you ever step of the way! Don’t stress!☺️
Could please make a YT video about how undergrad is different from graduate school? Like boards, social life, syllabus, clinics, and more. Thank You!!

This is sure to be informative for optometry students. Great video!
Thank you!!🤓

My roommate and I got REALLY lucky we locked in a good rate! :) 1200+ is not too uncommon for a 1/2 bed in Houston!
Hello! How were you able to get your rent/utilities so cheap? Was that through your school you worked with or something else. Thanks

@@KhanhTon Okay good to know, thank you for all the info and these videos! keep it up! :)

Hi, just wanna know how did you know that you want to be an opto? and what did you do after high school, did you went straight and look for school colleges or vacation? Thanks:)
I’m making a future video on why I wanted to be an optometrist! And I went from high school -> college -> undergrad without any gap year!
Hello, how do you apply for Financial aid for grad school? Was it in a form of grants? Thanks for the informative video!

@@KhanhTon Do you need to return the loan of FAFSA after graduation and how much for the interest? Thank you.
Lol yes you have to return the student loan! And I’m honestly not too sure probably around 6%
Did you receive a scholarship for payments?
I did receive a scholarship but it didn’t even make the tiniest dent in the overall cost :(
Unfortunately there isn’t much aid in grad school
Is it really possible to work during opto school? As in like waitressing? If so, like 20 hours? More or less?
Schools don’t recommend it

Very helpful video Khan!! Are you using school loans to pay for housing? I understand if it's something you'd rather keep private!
I am not! ☺️
I got my education of optometry from Pakistan? Kindly help me out if I move in your country what is the process to work as an optometrist? THANKS...
Sorry, I don’t know the answer to that.

11k for OD program? Wtf. What inexpensive school is this? Got accepted to KYCO and have to pay $45k per year not including living
11-13K per semester, so ~25K/year not including living - UH is a public school. All Texas public medical/pharm/dent tuition are around the same
@@KhanhTon 25k a year, but did financial aid reduce that cost?
Hi maam.new friend here....im here to full support .....see you around
