You forgot to put the dust covers on the new shocks to cover the piston part of the strut 😞
😭
Another great video Paul. When it started to be difficult was the point that it reminded me of all my efforts years ago on cars. Now I pay someone else as i'm not as patient as you. Keep these coming.
Ooohhh Ouiii Paul as usual took me in a journey there... loved the all work you done to the car from start to where it is now... Next week soooo farrrr
Brilliant work paul
I loved the head shake and the "it didn't" at 12:30mins, it killed me 🤣
Amazing job
Great work and that too in sweltering sun. Good job.
Looks great done a great job Paul 👊👊👊
What a difference it made! Wow !!!
Great job Paul , looks so much better 👍
Looking good so far 👌👍massive difference
Awesome Video! you handled those spring compressors like a boss! They give me the fear like nothing else! You had the compressed spring pointing to your head and gentlemans area at times, baws of steel mate!!!
Yes uncle keep it going 👊🏾
So glad its not just me that struggles with so called simple jobs
Hard jobs for simple minds lol
Mean looking GTE. Nice!
Watching you work on that GTE is theraputic I think its curing my believe on do it yourself, many thanks for showing us such interesting content on how to fix up a car.
Oh Paul, where would we be without your good video's, you've got such professionalism, with lots of good to hear information, all coupled with a really infectious sense of humour, Which is why I love watching them! My sincere thanks for making and listing them! Shane. :-)
Wow, thanks Iam, much appreciated
Thanks for this series on the GTE. Just goes to show that it doesn’t matter if it’s a hybrid you can still work these cars yourself for a lot of stuff 👍
Paul, get yourself some shade, a big umbrella or Gazebo. I agree with the other comments on compressed springs too, be careful!
Hi Paul Great content as always , but less speed more haste when it comes to spring clamps , I have seen them when they let go and its not pretty
Looks real good 👌💪
Thanks 👍
Not one bit interested in what you are doing but because your production values are so great I am compelled to learn something, then the soundtrack! Subscribed as purely a fan! Lol!
I love that wheels on it!!!😍
No Paul your right the wheels suit the car and now the stance is perfect.
Hi Paul thank you for the video,,, Don't forget to torque those front axel bolts,
Or you will need to change the front bearings ,,, I think it was 150 lbs and half a turn.
I’m looking forward to the tuning episode. I wonder if whatever you’re planning will also apply to my A3 etron.
Nice work Paul especially in the heat wave we had this weekend .😅😅
Thanks 👍
It's monday. Time to crack open a few beers, kick back and watch Cars For Paul. 👍🏻🚗👈🏻 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Enjoy!
Looking good now, it deserves the GT part of the name now.
well done you hard work eh
Hi Paul, brilliant video, doing the shocks may not go well sometimes lol,but the results are a nice stance with the new wheels.its definitely looks the part.
Thanks 👍
put the dust covers on the new shocks. they serve a purpose mate
To work outside in this heat is the mark of a legend. You must have the patience of a room full of saints. Well done!
Bit of a cheeky ask, but I love the music you use, is there any chance of a track list for this video?
you have me hooked, wanting to know this 'secret'!
i no your pain paul today 30 heat takeing a gearbox out of a range rover just seem to take hours lol blessing davey east london
You deserve a cold beer Paul working in that heat !!🍺
You got that right!
@@CarsForPaul 🍻👍🏻
Thanks for a great video! I'm planning to do the same for my car and get some new wheels. Now I'm wondering about ET on the rims. Do you remember what you have/had?
Nice vid mate!
What springs did you put on your gte and what size are your wheels?
GTE is looking good Paul. It is sitting very low!! Just don't make a point of carrying too many heavy passengers 🤣
Great job Paul,, invest in a cheap Gazebo,, If you can get your hands on one,, Thanks for video
I wanna know that the dark secret is?? Lol can't wait till next week Paul lol 😁
What alloys do you have? I love these
Hi mate. Great vid. Do you have a link to these springs?
You need to think about the distance between the battery and the ground. Nothing should hit under the battery very important. No curbs, no obstacles
Hi paul nice to watch your content, Did you by any chance purchase the Golf Gte as salvage, If so can you sent me the link for the rebuild of the vehicle? Tx u
I really like this but, (There`s always a “but”) the constant ads spoil it. Paul`s straightforwardness, is really nice. No rubbish and “ look how clever I am.” It`s honest and “tell the truth as it is” videoing. Paul, I know the money is handy but, PLEASE.......THOSE ANNOYING ADS!
looks like a new wishbone nearside, I thought it may have got bent from initial impact
Well done mate what a pig of a job
The springs have made such a difference to the look definitely a good shout 👏
Agh .. Drive shaft's, I struggled with one on an Audi, gave up (it got too dark) went back in the next day, and it near fell into place... shame not the same for you..
Not easy that gte 😥
I stood beside one yesterday original ride height is ridiculously high 😂
Also u need oem wheels Paul would finish off nicely Marseilles 👍
What diameter wheels do you have Paul
If you had fitted the adjustable shock kit it would have your fillings, I speak from experience. :) :)
Iv never had to remove the driveshaft when working on the strut 🤨
nice stance now hope it drives as good as looks,, ???? no rubber dust covers fitted....
Showing your mot man passed it with a bent strut and rear wheel bearing hanging off is a sure fire way to help him loose his licence and earn him a P45
Should be fired in that case. 👍🏻
Paul I think you need to invest in a pop up tent too keep you cool from the sun when working on jobs like this but that’s just my opinion
Hi Paul that's some sexy motor keep well
U not putting the dust cover on the drivers side
Paul you should use a piece of wood when jacking on the discs enjoying you watching your videos. 👍👍👍👍
Good tip!
Worth the bake in the sun, turned out great. For everyday use would you use the GTE with that setup?
I do, it's my new daily.
Paul, is there a risk of damage to the sill when jacking up off the reinforced section as you have done?
No, the sill is separate to the jacking point
What is the name of the background track?
its by Tom fox and its called new beginnings
tomfoxmusic.bandcamp.com/album/the-borders-sessions-vol-2
26:50 you say it is 200kg heavier that a GTI, so how heavy is the GTE?
The GTE is 1540kg and the GTI is1295kg
You look like the double of Geoffrey from fresh prince
Golf GTE can probably not be compared to a Golf R. But rather with an E golf when it comes to safe distance to the ground
Paul, you need to put a warning out to the novice when changing springs........................there a killer. I've seen them go straight through a double skinned brick wall.
Good point
Looking forward to hearing the dark secret
Hi Paul, I’m a GTE owner and am buzzing I’ve found this series as been after opinions on mods for ages and are hard to come by. From what I’ve read elsewhere lowering by 30mm at the front and 35-40mm at the rear is ideal as the GTE’s nose sits low, did you find this yourself at all?
Welcome aboard!
I have 35mm on the front and back, for the front, 35 is a little too low as it bottoms out on any big dips , but it looks great from a stance point of view
I almost bought this car..
Love the content but you are going to lose a finger or 2 spring clamps are lethal and should be handled with more care then that
You make things alot harder then they need to be tho
🤣 you could have fitted an air ride kit quicker than it took for 2 front shocks
After all this cost, wouldn't it have been a lot cheaper to buy a new one?
Nope, still making a £4k saving
Much much better stance Paul, shame those fronts were such a pig. But well worth if for the results
Love your content Paul but pls its not "dis" "dat" or de otha lol 😆
slam bang thank you mam
When you work out in the sun you should wear a white hat. It works 👍
The secret is... start a RUclips channel and generate an income. RUclips though has become saturated, with more 'RUclipsrs' in it for the cash now
Another car destroyed by back street mechanic
Nah mate, you must be watching something else
