- This game went down in the Redbull Wololo Qualifier recently and I just about lost my mind. Hoang is super fun to watch on standard settings, but in this faster paced game mode provided just as much of a treat for us as any! Messy play, super all in, and quality opponent made this one of my favorite games.

We need to convince Hoang that wheelbarrow is a military tech because it allows your villagers to go forward and drop military production buildings faster

I'm not that great of a player so I could only hope to have even half of Hoang's micro skills, but man is it frustrating to see him not get his eco techs when it could have helped him out so much, this coming from a low elo player such as myself.
There's a lot of games where he wouldn't have won if he didn't scrounge on the Eco upgrade

Only issue of Hoangs playstyle is that even with a lot of experience with it, Hoang forgets to micro better odr react faster. He also forgets to make upgrades, eco, use terrain. You'd think those would be requirements to be at his level, but that is the paradox of Hoang, he is much better, yet much worse than expected.
He forgot that frank have cheaper castle.

Empire Wars is really interesting, I've enjoyed this tournament as a change up, but it also doesn't feel quite right and I'll be happy to see normal games again.
Also this game is nuts. Love Hoang's play.
What does each side get at the start?
Give Teutonic Knights a taunt ability so the unit they're attacking can't run away from them. But keep them slow obvs.
Or just throw them into battering rams and have them roll out on their shiny new wheels.
Remove the minimum 1 damage from ranged attacks, so anything but fully upgraded longbows or arbalests wouldn't even deal damage
Putting them in Rams could work if Rams get a move-attack option that let's them release before anything's too close, then suck them back in before moving again. Only top 20 players can pull off protoss carrier micro
Teutons should get a buff that doubles the garrison space of Rams and Siege Towers. They don't get Siege Ram so it'd be ballanced.
Watching Hoang play is so frustrating because you just *know* he does this not as a stylistic choice or preference, but because it's literally the only card in his whole deck. He seems to know so little about the game. But it /works/. I /hate/ facing all-in players like that. But when the salt wears off, you have to give props for being good at something that looks like it should not work. Amazing stuff, and in the end, I love to watch. Thanks for the upload, T90!
Well, Hoang does fall short against better players for this very same reason. Although he is starting to add more eco.

I love all Hoang content. He makes games very messy. That's exciting to me. It will be quite something when improves his apm so that he can effectively build his economy.
Hoang with high apm would break the game. It would be too OP.
I think the solution to Teutonic Knights is to allow Teutons to buy squires as many times as they want, but it doubles in price each time.

It would be more historically accurate if you could get Teutonic Knights on ships... the Teutonic Order was a German order formed for campaigns in the Baltic, so most transport was to the Baltics, Scandinavia and Finland was by ship...
I love T90 uploads and I love Hoang games too but come on, isn’t it a bit disrespectful to refer to red as Hoang all the time but blue is referred to just as blue? He even won the game and still doesn’t get any recognition.

u talked about adds to the game at the beginning;
in AoE3 theres a button to gather all military on the map on a point (I think.. if my memory is correct) --- that, would be ultra practical for AoE2.

The best way to buff Teutons in my opinion is to give them double capacity rams and siege towers, following the double capacity thing they've got. It would allow for super fast ram + Teutonic Knight raids while meming the whole time.

idle tcs, idle eco, no eco upgrades, stubborn to adapt during a game, like... blue army could be countered by skirms all day, but no.. lets lose the game
Hoang is that guy that see pikemen yet still make knight.
He's playing a rushing style, something that Aoe2 doesn't really offer aside 3 militia+scout. Hoang seem that guy who can play starcraft and westwood series because these games do support option to rush.

I don't really know about other regions but I've to admit that I know a bunch of Vietnamese have the play style like Hoang. Aoe2 came to Vietnam at the time, that buying a computer is only something for upper middle class people only, so most of the kids went to game centers to play aoe and aoe2. Those kids only have 1 or 1.5 hours at game center so everyone just plays the fastest way possible for a match, and the fastest way is going forward and having bloodshed everywhere on the map. This reason can be apply to every other games like League, red alert, dota, dota 2. And it's fun as hell :v :v :v

Mentalist created a new ID just so he doesn't have to talk with you cos of your history
Fun trick: in a pinch, you can garrison archers in your TC to turn it into a mini-castle when being raided.
Barring hill forts tech you'll be out ranged by a lot, but it can save your hide if you have a bunch of archers near your TC and need to hide them from knights who will otherwise massacre them.
Also, Persian TCs can be literally mini-castles using this if you're short on stone.

I wanna get this game but I’m scared cause I never played this game before, and it doesn’t look beginner friendly
It has great campaigns to get you started. It will take a while to feel confident (I don't). But some maps are very noob friendly for example Black Forest as you can easily wall yourself up and take your time booming without worrying about early aggression. I recommend checking out T90's cast of Fatslob. That legend spent a decade playing the same thing and got awfully good at it. Also the Low ELO Legends series should show you that people playing against each other aren't that good either.
Agree with T90 that Hoang should play more other civs. Looking at what Hoang's making, I think he'd be better off playing Portuguese. All thing he made can benefit from the 15% less gold discount - knights, monks, siege. He could even made CA that would be costing less gold the Hun's ones in Castle Age. Although Portuguese don't have heavy CA, Hoang's games don't go to Imp anyway......

hoang is soooo disappointing it's frustrating.. he could be SO MUCH better if he adjusted just some few obvious things to his games..
But he doesn't like eco, he likes fighting, even if it's a losing fight...he likes it. You can see him just itching to take on obviously unwinnable fights ahahah

I like Huang, he has mindset of rusher and not seem to play simcity. I think AOE2 is too slow for his and mine style though.
