You can notice that Tristan and Dave have so much experience together. When the mic of Tristan failed, Dave only had to say there were issues and Tristan knew he could just shut up and let Dave take over for a second. Great team. AOE2 wouldn't be the same without these two legends.
T90s love for the game is unquestionable, he’s done so much. I grew up playing this game alone, never stopped, I found T90 in 2018 and I m so glad that this game is doing well. The community is incredibly positive as well❤️❤️
Whilst the finale may have been quite lackluster, HC5 certainly was not! We had plently of great games in the previous rounds and in the qualifiers, five (!) people that played their first HC and managed to qualify. The event was awesome!
Loved hearing Hera tell his story about watching Hidden Cup 1 from work in the Deli and deciding he wanted to be that good; then going home to practice and start his journey to the TOP! Makes you wonder tho, what young up and coming player got inspired by THIS tourney, and is now at home practicing to be the next Hera, the next Viper, the next dominating champion! Gives me goosebumps to think about! It won't be me, I'm like Dave, too old too bald haha, but someone.... somewhere....I can't wait to hear THEIR story in a few years! LETSGOOOOOOOO!!
There's no video's I watch after the game ends and people talk, except for after a Hidden Cup. The heartfelt victory interview, the words of the cocaster and T90 afterwards is the 3rd best part of hidden cup (after the games and the reveal). Although I was unable to watch live, I made sure I didn't watch anything else before I completed the video's. I hope you (T90) really comprehend what an event such as this mean to certain people.
I have grown a bit out of touch with AoE, but I will always watch every single match of a Hidden Cup. By far the best competitive concept I have ever seen for a video game. Guessing players will never get old and rewards fans of the game and scene. Keep rocking it T90, feels like yesterday that everything was still on Voobly.

I'm only a casual watcher, and haven't played for years, but when your vids pops up I usually watch most of them time permitting, but when Hidden Cup pops up in my feed I cancel all appointments, bust out the popcorn and coffee, and watch all the games while I work. Best AOE2 Tourney EVER! THANKS TO YOU AND ALL WHO PUT IN ALL THE EFFORT! Much appreciated!!
I watched every single game of Hidden Cup V! Thanks T90! This was an amazing tournament and there were SOOO many great games! Even though I wanted Otto the Great to go all the way, I still had an amazing time watching.
Is it just me, or Lierrey didnt capitalize on some of his games in finals? He did punish Hera for some mistakes, but not enough to beat him. But still, what a series... been watching since first Hidden cup and I never get bored of this amazing content that you bring Tristan. Here is to many more 🍻
While Hera is simply unplayable right now, I have to say Liereyy clearly felt he was beneath him and didn't play to his own strengths. His Semifinals against Viper was an insane performance with confidence, great micro, aggression, etc... we didn't see any of that in the finals. He tried to play it safe when that's not his strength and got punished for it.
Phenomenal tournament! I haven't watched a whole lot of AoE2 since about 2018, prior to DE. It's fantastic to see that the meta has been shaken up with new civs and strats, and I love the fun custom maps. Really fantastic production and casting from T90 and the crew, absolutely peak gaming from the players. gg wp to our champion!
The game would still be on the shelves without the fantastic work of people like you 👏Thank you for bringing back the old memories and so many fun games from a range of players and experience levels with legendary commentary. ❤
@@SneakyOldCrabHera's gameplay channel has uploaded his PoV for these games. Hera definitely had the civ selection figured out for the maps played. Hera did believe that he was out picked on Bay and Arabia, but those maps didn't come up.
hera singlehandedly ruined watching competitive aoe for me this year. there's no point watching - me and a friend had two tickets to hidden cup but didn't show up because we had an opportunity to go to some tourist locations in fort lauderdale with friends instead - my friend jokingly said 'hera will win it all anyway' and after watching this - yeah. what's the point of watching when one guy dominates so totally? I'm happy for him in that he has mastered this classic game, but plain and simple no one is on his level - that's lame for the average viewer T90 engagement farming and getting pseudo-salty about 'low' (read: less than last time) viewership numbers was just the icing on the cake
This was my first Hidden Cup tournament. I must've started watching T90 on YT after HC4, maybe 2022. When HC5 was announced, I didn't know what it was. But my interest was peaked. It's been 2 months, but today I completed watching the backlog of all the qualifiers and main event posted on the YT channel. During that time, 99% of all other AOE2 content was put on hold. My god, T90, this event was absolutely phenomenal! You deserve all the praise, along with the players, cocasters, and crew!
T90, this has been such a lovely experience. Hidden Cup has been so much fun, every time you've run it. Thank you and the support staff for putting it together, thank you to the co-casters who joined in, the community who donated to help out the pot and of course the players for the hours and hours of entertainment. Also, love that reveal style - whoever came up with it did a great job.
Amazing work t90. I started watching hidden cups during hidden cup 3 or maybe 2 i can't recall, but it's been amazing to see this journey for you, the game, and the scene! Hope you're feeling well! And I would most definately be interested in some sort of hidden cup 6 hidden away faar faar in the future ;)
I encourage you to go back and listen to yourself in 2015, the first minute of TheViper vs Arma(John). It is a perfect comparison to the vast difference you have facilitated for this game. I actually had never watched any of the Hidden Cups, but have been a daily viewer on youtube for the last 2 years, coincidentally about a month after HC4. It is funny because I used to make fun of people that watched other people play video games, and I still get bored watching other steamers play or spectate games. At first it was just enjoying some nostalgia while falling asleep(cracked me up everytime it was mentioned in stream), but I have found now that I now look forward to watching your videos after or before work (I still sometimes throw an old video on before bed though). The vast strides in stream quality compared to your older videos is very apparent. I understand not all of that is you, but none of this was possible without you. This Hidden Cup really felt polished up and was really entertaining, especially with the mystery players. I hope we get to see hidden cup more often, it is such a fun tournament style to watch over the other tournies I only somewhat pay attention to. I really appreciate the hard work you and your team have put in to create something awesome. Also, I really liked Dave, especially that his name is just Dave while we are calling everyone else by Usernames. He is my favorite co-announcer/thing/person you have on stream.
You and all co-casters have improved incredibly over the years I listened to this tournament live as much as I could while working and it's been fantastic great color work guys
Each HC at the end, you talk about you, the game, the situation you're in and the people around you, and each time you made me cry a little. You are a good humain being Tristan, see you next time T90 ;)
Aside from only a few IP games with close friends from the MSN gaming zone days, I haven’t played with the rest of the community since those MSN gaming zone days and the beginning of the Voobly days. T90, I only just found this channel right before this tourney started and I watched a bunch of low ELO legend and tiniest map vids and MAN were they funny! And they reminded me of all the good times I had with my friends, my clan and everyone back in “Hunt the Royal” and “Dark Ages”. Then this tourney started and I was BLOWN AWAY by the moves these people had like the “quick wall”. I couldn’t watch you stream Live every day but you can bet that I was catching up during my breaks at work and after eating dinner in the evenings. Thank you for all that you do and for your team for bringing us these thrilling matches. You’re the first streamer I’ve EVER watched who I wasn’t annoyed by. I had a blast laughing with you, keep it up! Your commentary isn’t noob and you clearly know what you’re talking about btw. Thank you -GAIA_R7W2
I hope you enjoy your break. You deserve it. I work in a high-stress job and turn to aoe2 to remove myself from that. Especially since the pandemic. Your streams have played an integral role in my well being that I truly hope you take some time off for yourself. I only just managed to catch up on the games and watch the grand final tonight (12 days late). While you may think some videos are insignificant or not important, I'm sure there are lots of other people like me in healthcare who really need a distraction from reality to better serve people. Thankyou for being such a positive distraction here on youtube, which is forever only increasing negative distraction. Thanks.
I don´t have time to watch these streams live, and I´m just so glad that I was able to watch the whole tournament on youtube at my own pace! And thanks to all the other viewers for not posting spoilers in the comments, that actually means a lot. You guys are awesome!
Hey everyone, so I caught up with the tournament three weeks later - and fair play to the RUclips community - there were very few spoilers in the comments. I could enjoy the tournament at my own speed and not have player identities spoiled. Well done to you all for not spoiling on the video comments. Much appreciated!
Thank you very much T90 for organizing yet another wonderful tournament!! Congrats to everyone involved in production, the players and of course the winner!
I could only watch this now 'cause I got so sick I couldn't watch RUclips. Thank you T90 for the fantastic tournament. I really liked watching the qualifiers and the round of 16 live before I got so sick, and it's been really good to see the rest of the tournament the last couple of days. Congrats Hera for winning again and I want to congratulate ACCM as well for getting so far and absolutely flattening Tatoh.
ACCM! So great! I’m glad you’ve recovered. As Hera said, the way the Ro16 and quarters were hidden from each other really made this tournament special and about planning and strategy. Very very cool. Very special.
Spoilers ahead: Really don't wanna beat the guy while he's down and this is of course an amateur take from someone who doesn't play, but Lierrey really let nerves get to him. This didn't feel like two pros duking it out in an intelligent manner, it was very one sided aggression. I think the most important thing I heard in this set was from T90 "be aggressive; don't expect aggression and react to it, be aggressive yourself." Insanely underrated advice. Game 4 was a great idea but the berry throw wouldn't have happened (hot take) if the knights were simply sent to harrass/counter attack when Hera failed to notice them flanking. The flank was a wonderful idea, but Hera's like a bull seeing red by that point, you can get behind him and do some serious damage by invading his economy there instead of trying to be clever with the flank. But yeah this is again observer bias, I'm not a pro or even a pro spectator, and it's impossible for the player to know what I know as a spectator in that moment. I just wish I saw Lierrey take more risks invading Hera's economy because I feel like that really was the difference. Still, he made it this far and that's a billion times farther than I'd ever reach.
love you man thank you so much thank you so much. im getting on the game now! you are such an inspiration to be passionate about what you love. your a good man.
Great tournament! Hera is the villain of AoE II right now. Honestly hope we see some other players catching up because he's way too strong for everyone at present.
Realize I'm late but I'm finally just finishing the series. Can't believe Vasco did that well in the final, which makes me wondering if I guessed wrong on him since I recall only the Viper dominating that hard in tourneys and I don't think it was him. Final predictions Jadwiga: Maybe Lierry? Otto: MBL (although I initially guessed Daut) Khosrau: Viper Vasco: Hera Alexios: ACCM? King Stephen: Daut Selim Grim: Yo Sumanguru: Tatoh? Every1 else: no clue Going to FFW to see who won now and if any of my guesses were right. edit: Ooof, a few wrong. But I got 4 right and feel good about that. Had Viper and Daut nailed down from the beginning.
Took me about a month to finally watch all the qualifiers, quarter, semis etc. what an amazing event, awesome job to everyone and thank you for keeping this game alive. Would now love to watch a team based tournament. Any suggestions ?
SPOILERS AHEAD - my opinion: Imo Liereyy had a combo of bad luck and psychological defeat here knowing (assuming) who his opponent was, even though HC is supposed to hide the players I'd like for HC to NOT have the players have any prior practice on the maps, from having heard his after-talk Hera (a VERY analytic player) got a MASSIVE lead simply by having been able to play (study) his opponents on these "new" maps beforehand, which I think nullifies both the hidden aspect and the introduction of new maps Hera himself said he knew EXACTLY who ALL the players were, just after round 1. That and having already played the maps I think makes the hidden aspect a bit gimmicky (no offense to anyone). Still a very entertaining event, but I think there's room for improvement.
They may have had some more competitive/even games in the qualifiers but the quality of the games were poor. I found myself skipping a lot of them as the players weren't up to scratch as the rest of the top 16 players.
@@Kid_Ikaris I guess it depends. I'd rather have both but I'd rather watch a good player get destroyed by an excellent attack with great micro/macro than watch 2 players struggle to break each other as their exceutions are poor. Or the player attacking is poor but the defence is also poor.
Hi ! Thanks for the event ! I'm realising every single one of the qualified players were out on their first match against an invited player. How do you analyse that ? Could it be because they were exhausted as they played so many games while the invited were training ?
2:22:06 Bro you do you! And it is great! Your voice has been a great companion while working at night or coming home to relax, because being honest tv is so bad compared to you! Imagine that!!! Those are payed huge loads of money and have their positions, jobs, WHATEVER. You do you. SALUTE !!!
I watched the whole event on youtube now and overall I enjoyed it, but I have to say the audio and video issues really kept adding up towards the end. Especially the reveal suffered because of that in my opinion. Personally I also found it off putting to have someone else control the capture age, leading to few situations with delay and action that happened off screen. I hope things like that can be improved on for any event and overall quality in the future.
Barles had no luck to fight Vasco, but still he won one game - not like Vasco's rival in Final. I hope Barles will have more chances to win next time ;)
Mango noobing: building mangonels without havy any support units for them and then losing them to enemy knights without a shot fired. We all do this s ometimes.
Hera had quite a much more easy path into the final compared to Lireey. A pity he got it that easily in the end. But Viper also was unlucky. Mr. Jo round 1 then Daut and then Lireey;)
You can notice that Tristan and Dave have so much experience together. When the mic of Tristan failed, Dave only had to say there were issues and Tristan knew he could just shut up and let Dave take over for a second. Great team. AOE2 wouldn't be the same without these two legends.

what am amazing week. HCV was amazing great job to everyone who put in the work to make this happen. GG Vasco and GG Alexios
In the future it would be nice if stats were like Persians are (wins-loss-bans). It would give a better idea of how the player think of the civ
Great tournament! Hera is the villain of AoE II right now. Honestly hope we see some other players catching up because he's way too strong for everyone at present.
Just please sort out the quality of 1080p and sound next time, apart from that amazing tournament thank you t90!
1:36:37 Lieerey Looks Like a Soldier!!! 💪🙏🙏🙏
I watched this live and in replay. Still great in this video. Love HCV
Realize I'm late but I'm finally just finishing the series. Can't believe Vasco did that well in the final, which makes me wondering if I guessed wrong on him since I recall only the Viper dominating that hard in tourneys and I don't think it was him.
Final predictions
Jadwiga: Maybe Lierry?
Otto: MBL (although I initially guessed Daut)
Khosrau: Viper
Vasco: Hera
Alexios: ACCM?
King Stephen: Daut
Selim Grim: Yo
Sumanguru: Tatoh?
Every1 else: no clue
Going to FFW to see who won now and if any of my guesses were right.
edit: Ooof, a few wrong.
Any suggestions ?
great fun to watch good job all!
I haven't played AoE2 in over 15 years but I'm here for Hidden Cup. I love it. Thanks everyone for making this possible.
Hera is the best champion. What an absolute class act.
so IMPRESSED by the players! Hera is dominant and I want to mention the glow up of ACCM. He's playing so well lately.
Really good finale, the play was amazing. As a viewer, the HC5 has been great.
SPOILERS AHEAD - my opinion:
Imo Liereyy had a combo of bad luck and psychological defeat here knowing (assuming) who his opponent was, even though HC is supposed to hide the players
I'd like for HC to NOT have the players have any prior practice on the maps, from having heard his after-talk Hera (a VERY analytic player) got a MASSIVE lead simply by having been able to play (study) his opponents on these "new" maps beforehand, which I think nullifies both the hidden aspect and the introduction of new maps
Hera himself said he knew EXACTLY who ALL the players were, just after round 1. That and having already played the maps I think makes the hidden aspect a bit gimmicky (no offense to anyone).
Still a very entertaining event, but I think there's room for improvement.
Hidden Cup 5 was a blast!
Anyone else think that the Hidden Cup V games were boring compared to the qualifiers?
They may have had some more competitive/even games in the qualifiers but the quality of the games were poor. I found myself skipping a lot of them as the players weren't up to scratch as the rest of the top 16 players.
@@soccerisfootball79 Yeah that was the thing I noticed the most, qualifier games were most competitive.
They were both still a great set of games
@@Kid_Ikaris I guess it depends. I'd rather have both but I'd rather watch a good player get destroyed by an excellent attack with great micro/macro than watch 2 players struggle to break each other as their exceutions are poor. Or the player attacking is poor but the defence is also poor.
Today I realized Sean Evans from Hot Ones is not the same person as Dave
Thank you T90!!!!!
Man, Hera is such a fanboy, he is just gushing during that interview.
Hi ! Thanks for the event ! I'm realising every single one of the qualified players were out on their first match against an invited player.
How do you analyse that ?
Could it be because they were exhausted as they played so many games while the invited were training ?
I think that just shows the players that were invited justify their spots.
Thanks! Stay umble out there guys.
Harry v Larry are always the best games. I don't know why.
1:24:57 Wow! Bug Déjavú moment! 😮
Amazing tournament
2:22:06 Bro you do you! And it is great! Your voice has been a great companion while working at night or coming home to relax, because being honest tv is so bad compared to you! Imagine that!!! Those are payed huge loads of money and have their positions, jobs, WHATEVER.
You do you.
SALUTE !!!
T90 has to be one of the hardest working content creators on this app. Years of grinding to get here. Great work everyone, and thank you
Winner was so obvious. Only one player is this sharp in the top 20. All talented but none sharper than Hera
Very well done T90, Very well done!
Of course Hera loves hidden, otherwise everyone will play against him more.
Mate. We love you and we love what you have done for the game. Thank you for the greatest EA sports content. Keep pushing mate and ignore the haters.
LOL MBL never is able to hide in Hidden Cup everyone always guesses him dhaha.
Absolutely unreal that Sebastian beat Viper 4-0. He's got a bright path ahead of him.
Barles had no luck to fight Vasco, but still he won one game - not like Vasco's rival in Final. I hope Barles will have more chances to win next time ;)
As much as I love watching Hera, Mr. Yo is easily keeping up with him 1v1 . Don't disregard the any of the Pros. They are at that level for a reason.
That's a big call. Yo is obviously fantastic but it's hard to argue with the results. Nobody is keeping up with Hera right now.
My Lord, my Princess, my King.
Its scary how alike my face is to T90..... and i love Aoe2...
Only problem of this hidden cup : Bulgarians and Tatars were absent 😢
Are the civs dogcrap or were they not adapted for the maps ?
Imagine in the reveal everyone turns out to be Daut
I would like to see if they were all behind closed doors. I’d like to see what would happen if they don’t know till they are playing
T90 - take some "me time" we'll be here when you get back. Its been a great tourney.
great stuff t90, more Jkidd stories would be nice. But still, well done.
Otto the goat!!!
1:44:12 - The chart is confusing... Daut loses against Vinchester and somehow advances...? 🤔 The power of The Lord or just rigged? 😆
Mango noobing: building mangonels without havy any support units for them and then losing them to enemy knights without a shot fired. We all do this s ometimes.
We love u T90!!!
Hera had quite a much more easy path into the final compared to Lireey. A pity he got it that easily in the end.
But Viper also was unlucky. Mr. Jo round 1 then Daut and then Lireey;)
