I actually cant the highbacks 3 degrees on both these and my Cleavers and love the feature (so you now know 1 person that does haha) - I run a slightly wider stance and it eliminates the calfbite from corners of the highback when it sits at 90 degrees.
I Also CANT my high backs on the cleavers and black labels
Yup 3deg works well with the 2.5 canted footbeds for me
One of the best Bindings🙌🏻
I got my pre order in a few months back. Cant wait to take them out.
Definitely my favorite binding, together with the Cleaver. The way they transfer power is absolutely perfect for me and they're comfortable too.
My best friend bought me these for the upcoming season. I'm so freaking excited.
Have you played around with all the adjustments? I had hours of fun getting ripped and perfecting my set up.
I payed for all those adjustments so i am going to use them all. Hehehe. Hey great binding!!!! Thanks for the recommendation through shopper sherpa Mr angry! Totally worth
Love my Katanas. Would heavily recommend for any all mountain rider. Mine are everything I need at Brighton.
I just bought my first pair today.. I’m excited to see how responsive they are. I’ll find out this Friday!
My highback broke when i got stuck in a tree well, Rome was quick to send out a replacement using the online warranty request. Great bindings overall
Like the man said, just a great all-around binding. You do get more lateral play with the Asymwrap, but you don't sacrifice a ton of power. You can still drive into it on the outside, it's just a different feel, which I like... No signs of stress on the old heel straps, but looking forward to replacing them with the new ish when the time comes...But this has got me thinking- if Avran should really be riding Katanas, maybe I should really be riding Vices...
Avran should be riding a hover round scooter.
@@AngrySnowboarder Just make sure you spring for the 8-volt.
@@romesnowboards Yo! I'm actually in marketing haha. I can be had for a 160 Stalefish and a case of Heady Topper. Let's talk.
I have the 21-22 model and its so good! beware that high back can snap easily if you kick it up with your heel in super cold conditions. Rome has a great warranty service too. Love the adjustability and how easy it is to strap in. Highly recommend these bindings to everyone!
Edit* if youre a rider with a bigger boot then youre gonna love the size of the toe strap!
Had the exact same problem on last season's model. Just got two replacement (23-24) high backs... they seem a lot more sturdy now
@@roflo77I had that happen on 20/21 models but did not sign up for the warranty… how do I get replacement highbacks?
@@chriswanamaker2138 I got them after submitting a warranty claim to the third party website I had purchased the bindings from
I really like the neon color too. I bet they'll look sick on my 2024 T Rice Pro.
Last season, I snagged 21/22 Katanas for a mad discount off of Rome's website. Paired it with a Jones MT, it rides like a dream. Rome's customer service also is top-notch, they have another customer for life.
I've tried the rotation on the high-backs too, but not sure it made a huge difference.
Nice, thats good to know. Ive also just ordered these for my mountain twin, cant wait to get on the slopes
I cant my cleavers and find canting the rear binding really helps with hard carving with a posi posi stance as I can really pivot my rear leg/knee inwards towards center of board on a heelside carve, which helps with getting into the correct posture and manipulating the board to have more of a bend in the carve.
My Katanas high backs are lined up parallel with the edge and canted. Also have the rotating ankle strap mounts tweaked. I use them with Burton Ion’s. Great fucking binding and I have to thank you Angry because I would have gotten Strata’s without your advice. I got the 21/22 grey pair at a Covid price. I’m not stupid enough to think canting the high backs does much but I love em’.
@Angry Snowboarder as always, great
Do you think Astor Asym or Katana is a better choice for Capita Mercury?
What is better for you in Rome and what in Bataleon?
what is Highback and Strap?
Cant go without a bit of Kant😅 helps hold powerful turns after driving into the board. Imo if you set your stance .5 to .75 inches wider than your body dimensions might dictate its good
Avran sounds like the happy snowboarder today
Suck a fart you dingus.
Just got last years katana for 30% off. Is it worth to get this year's vs last? Is the new heel strap that much better? Thanks Avran!!!
ride this years, when it tears, hit up warranty and get the new heel strap. Follow me for more snowboard saving financial advice.
@@AngrySnowboarder we see you👀
Torn between Katanas, Cleavers, or Union Falcors to put on a K2 Excavator 146. 130 pounds, advanced/expert looking for good response on carves and to do some backcountry riding. Thoughts?
Probably want the Cleavers if those are your three choices.
I'm looking to replace some old malavita's that I'm running primarily on a party wave+. Are the katana's 'similar' or do I need to look more towards dod/others?
So I just upgraded from a very soft, forgiving, beginner set up to a K2 gateway pop with Katanas. I liked the idea of bindings that are comfortable, adjustable, and “middle of the road” as everybody claims. I haven’t ridden it yet but I’ve had more than one person tell me that the Katanas might be a too much binding for that board/my skill level based on the fact that they have aluminum frames, which are more on the aggressive side when it comes to transferring power. As a beginner who is now very confident with what most would consider intermediate level riding, would I benefit from a less aggressive binding?
Would these be good for a 2019 flagship or would the clever be a better choice currently riding an older cartel
How does the Bataleon Astro Asymwrap compare to this? They look pretty similar to me.
I have a pretty high instep, so would you say I should get these because of the pivot mount over the astro's, or are the kink ladders on the astro's comparable?
Different heel strap and highback is the big differences. Strap on the Astro is better in my opinion. Kink ladders are nothing like Pivot mount but unless you have some weird instep issue you probably will never use the Pivot Mount.
@@AngrySnowboarder Other than that the ride is comparable though?
Pretty similar.
Hey angry do you know what brand of boots are good for a wider foot?
Thanks I’m advance
Salomon wide, some K2/Ride, 32, some Burton. Best boot is the one that fits your foot and fits your needs.
Rome lunch the Katana Pro 2024-2025 Season!!!
Is the Bataleon aux tech heel strap still your favourite after trying this new one?
So much better than this.
So pickup the Katana’s or black labels and a set of replacement Battalion aux tech heel straps swap them out and call it good?
I’m looking at getting a pair of these. I currently have a set of 2014 ride capo and they are awful. I’m riding a 2024 nitro Marcus kleavland pro. Do you think these bindings would pair well
Probably want a cleaver or dod honestly
@@AngrySnowboarder cheers mate. I think yeah the clever it’s got a lot more adjustments inc. the new klevland board is 8/10 stiff but also can be playful. Very very quick too.
Katanas vs Nitro Phantom?
Going on a Burton Kilroy Twin, mainly all mountain on the east coast
Katanas.
I'm looking to replace my 2018 atlas since I keep losing parts on the mountain (forward lean, bolts, straps). Which bindings would you recommend to pair with a 164W algorythm @AngrySnowboarder? Advanced rider, mostly groomers, steeps, ice, sidehits, small jumps / butters.
Ride C-8, this, or a Bataleon Astro Asym and checking your screws regularly.
Touché 😆@@AngrySnowboarder thanks!!
Touché 😂@@AngrySnowboarder thanks!!!
One more thing: I have the adidas tactical ADV boots, and I noticed the sole is the same material as the rome katana / bataleon has under the base. Would it be too much to have both? @@AngrySnowboarder
No.
Ive just purchased a Endeavor Scout 160 and have Genesis EST bindings on my old board. How would you compare these Katanas to my genesis for the Endeavor Scout?
Im 6'1" and 195lbs.
More adjustability, stiffer flex in the heel cup, they’re just better.
Would you recommend Rome Katana over Ride C8? I have the ride algorhythm snowboard. I'm able to pick up the C8 for about $110 cheaper than the Katana
Then pick them up and go ride.
What’s more responsive, the new union force or katana?
About equal.
This or the Jones Mercury for groomer carving on an Alchemist?
Mercury if those are your only two choices.
that flip tab on the toe strap keeps unfliping on me...
Can I use Katana S? (Boot Size 8 US)
Should be able to.
I broke a pair of Union Forces after half a season. My Romes lasted 12 seasons. I'm going back to Rome.
can these bindings be comparable with the Union ultras?
No
@@AngrySnowboarder and the bataleon chaos?
Closer.
CHOP AND CHUNDER.
