- The second episode of my Them's Fightin' Herds character spotlight series features Oleander, my main! This video shows you the basics and is intended for intermediate players with some knowledge of fighting games.
ERRATA (as of EA patch #10, Dec 23rd 2018)
Study is AIR OK (has always been this way; forgot to add the graphic).
All teleport variations cost 1 magic except C, but only when you are on the ground.
Fred will stop attacking if Oleander gets hit.
While Fred is out, you no longer gain any meter except for meter-stealing attacks.
j.2C (Smite) does less damage and always ground bounces, even when your opponent is on the ground.
Them's Fightin' Herds is owned by Mane6, Inc. All game footage and art assets are used with their permission.

I'm glad that they recovered, it sucks that they got set back but that ended up being the best thing to ever happen to them.
Basically there's an Oleander color pallete based on Raven from Teen Titans. A unicorn that references a character voiced by Tara Strong (and also, Tara Strong is in this game). Twilight Sparkle, anyone?

These videos should be uploaded to the game itself or something kind of like how vain glory has in game videos showing these spotlights for each character for easy access. Plus they’re really helpful since this game dosent have and sort of tutorial yet

Ok yeah not only do I like her, I can actually use her. This is my main now.
I'M a twi and flutters
Is it weird that I imagine her on the show as an "Eclipsa" like character? I imagine her with a questionable reputation between her and the Royal Sisters and Princess Twilight. I also imagine Spike befriending her similar to how Star met Eclipsa. Sometimes she would flatter him with compliments on his occupation as a hero and a ambassador and how helpful and loyal he is just to see him blush. She would be a dark magic-wielding unicorn but has a good heart who sometimes love to walk on the wild side...once you get to know her.
I'm loving these guides so far. So detailed but so fun and interesting to watch. Now just gotta wait for the Pom Spotlight but Oleander definitely looks like a strong contender.
Yesssss this looks like Twilight's equivalent from the old fighting is magic game, been waiting for this one. The things I could do with that twi were incredible and I'll definitely be picking this up when it launches!

So this basically Fighting is Magic with the characters having different designs. They even fight exactly the same and have similar personalities.

I had my suspitions which were basically confirmed when I saw her super's name. It's a reference to Marisa Kirisame from Touhou, whose signature spell is a giant magical laser named "Master Spark".
Her character and backstory reminds me of Anakin Skywalker.

Based purely on her design, animations, and nothing else, I think she could work as a villain or at least antagonist in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
And yes, I know that this started out as an FiM game.

As someone who's not able to play this game, I didn't know if I liked Oleander. Now I think I do. It's nice how she's not just evil like I thought.

This game reminds me of skullgirls. Small but dedicated community and most likely not a ton of people will know or care when it dies, but god damn. This looks great and it looks like fun

Wow this game actually looks very interesting
I personally believe you _severely_ undersold her 6C command normal, because that attack is phenomenal. It's actually a super safe move that is +3 on block that could be really useful to bait your opponent out of blocking. I often use it for the ground bounce into either her c.B->c.C->c.3C launcher combo. When Oleander gets going, you _really_ don't have many options.
I wish I had gone into more detail about her command normals. In my aim to keep this a general overview I did omit some crucial info.

Paprika will be the next spotlight, but I'm going to do a two-part general tutorial before I work on hers. It is being asked for.
Paprika is what is generally called a 'charge character' which means most of her specials requires her to hold a certain direction for a short amount of time. ((maybe like a half a second or a second, depending on the fps)), then hit the opposite direction and an attack. They are more defensive in nature due to the fact they often hold back to store a charge, and cant really go ham with their specials as much as a character that only has to do a fireball motion. Their normals are usually above average to compensate. For reference, Guile from Streetfighter is a charge character, and Sonic Boom requires a charge motion.

I really love these videos so far! Im not the best at fighting games, but, so far these are really great at teaching moves and combos. really looking forward to more! It would be cool to see one for Pom. Her moves are a bit confusing imo @_@
Pom is the hardest character in the game. Her spotlight will be last in the series.

Kinda wish Fred operated in a similar way to Luma in Smash Ultimate. Even if the primary fighter, in this case, Oleander, is incapacitated, Fred can still attack, only with lowered attack power.
