Kami (Japanese: 神 ?, [káꜜmì]) are the spirits or phenomena that are worshiped in the religion of Shinto. They can be elements of the landscape, forces of nature, as well as beings and the qualities that these beings express, and include the spirits of venerated dead persons. Just FYI.
yes, the pronunciation of kami kept bugging me in this vid. Also sakura isn't pronounced "sekoora". I know it's minor stuff, but all the more reason to get it right.
How much does the kickstartes cost? i just got the retail and i didnt know there was a kickstarter :( i hope its worth alot so i dont feel bad for myself
Alliances are temporary and betrayal seems to be a significant mechanic, and you can't get betrayed if you're not in an alliance. Consider this scenario: Player 1 and Player 2 forge an alliance, making them both get stronger than Player 3. But then Player 1 betrays Player 2, sending them into the lead and sending Player 2 down to a situation where they're at Player 3's level or weaker. Now Player 2 and Player 3 are both pissed at Player 1, and form an alliance, eventually passing Player 1 (before one of them likely betrays the other). It's true that the political state would probably be more interesting with 4 or 5 players, but I think fun, noteworthy things could happen with 3.
Looks great but I got stuck on the mistakes in the historical research. Territory leader or feudal lords or daimyo not shogun and they would not vie to become Emperor who generally lived in isolation and often poverty. They would vie to become the one and only Shogun. A little interbreeding of Shinto and Buddhism can be forgiven I guess because it is essentially what happened in general. Would take much to fix and make it more accurate. Sengoku diplomacy essentially. Good luck
But think about how you can tell your friends about how it REALLY happened (or would happen) while playing the game. This is the kind of game that you can get people who don't know anything about Japanese culture interested in it even though I agree with you regarding the mistakes. Plus the art is beautiful.
Good research! But speaking of Emperor and Daimyo, historically there were some exceptions. Most famous daimyo is probably Oda Nobunaga (Family name first, it's our name-order) who actually tried to became the new Emperor of Japan. Some believe his arrogance made himself assassinated. Maybe ancient KAMI got angry, who knows.
Instead of being a Shogun trying to become Emperor, it would be way more historically accurate to be a Daimyo (feudal lord) trying to become the next Shogun. The Shogun never wanted to be Emperor as the Emperor was the Shogun's puppet most of the time. I'm guessing they chose Shogun -> Emperor though just because people know those two words. Game still looks great though.
You're right. Daimyo -> Shogun is more historically accurate. But condering KAMIs are in this game, Shougn -> Emperor make sense more mythologically . While SHOGUNs are only chiefs of soldiers, Emperors are not only the highest aristocracies but SHINTO priests. In our myth, they are regarded as descendants of ancient KAMIs.
Kami is not pronounced "Cammy" but "c-uh-mee" and Sakura is not pronounced "SuhkOOwuh" but "Saah-kraah" and Shogun is not pronounced "Show-gun" but "Shoh-gn" and Oni is not pronounced "o-ni" bu... ah fuck it.
He either means Kickstarter's payment stuff will crash due to the amount of people causing an overload on the server, or that the game is going to have a ton of delays and piss off people and not be a very good game. I am assuming the first though.
This game looks less like risk, and doesn't even look like it will play anything like it. Blood Rage was like risk. Rising Sun is supposed to be like Diplomacy.
I missed out on the Blood Rage KS. I will not make the same mistake again.
I would need four new friends to play this. Check that, friends.
Step 1: Get Rising Sun
Step 2: Watch friends flock to you like moths to a flame
Step 3: Profit
love myself some base counters
Looking forward to this.
Miniatures look great
HYPE!
This is the best game ever honestly. It's complex, but so involved once you get started 😍
This certainly looks cool and thematic!
Looks amazing, can't say I'm to impressed with the mechanics. I think I'll save my money until a few reviews are out.
Looks cool and very promising, if only i had friends to play with
The Cammy?
That and the "best shogun becomes emperor" bit had me cringing. It's pretty gorgeous, though.

It's pronounced Kah-Me, that's where his "confusion" is coming from.
Right, just amazed Cmon didn't know this.

Reminds me of the old MB game SHOGUN from the 80s!
Stoked for this one
Congrats on breaking the Kickstarter :)
This looks like a great game
Same thing with Blood Rage (another Eric Lang/CMON game). 2 - 4 in the base, 5 with expansion.
I see a spot for a sixth faction on the honor track.
Straddllw sg just unlocked for one!
You had me and then lost me at 3-5 players. too bad, I like the looks of the components.
What's so bad about 3-5 players?
I know, I really wanted the option for 6.
Some of us dont have a lot of friends. Lots of people like solo games as well, or with AI players.
Jukejointjeze0n then this game isn't for you I guess?
Ben Rubinstein will probs be an expansion. will know in just 2 hours
Bets on there being a plastic token upgrade pack? (Id get it, probably).
How much does the kickstartes cost? i just got the retail and i didnt know there was a kickstarter :( i hope its worth alot so i dont feel bad for myself
I looked at backing this but was confused by what you get for the different tiers.
It is odd since this isn't in kickstarter yet.
Not sure how a 3 player game would work well with forging alliances...

I hope there will be language support! :)
need more video? still don't really get the gameplay. the 10 units for each clan has no difference?
This looks like Shogun: Total War the board game. Completely Awesome.
This looks so good.
I can't wait for retail!
Noooo !!!!!! ... I missed the Kickstarter ),:
looks like Game of Thrones with minis
Really love the game

Ugh, man... This kickstarter is basically like rent. Gotta get paid, and I don't have the money..
cmon likes NIOH! ^_____^
looks like blood rage 2.0
Genuinely though, this looks nothing like Blood Rage. This is closer to something like the Game of Thrones game than Blood Rage.
Tallen Smith we will see :) ages, monsters killing everybody ehen summoning them, area control...
Thats true. I guess we'll just have to wait and see when it releases.
Kami is not pronounced "Cammy" but "c-uh-mee"

and Shogun is not pronounced "Show-gun" but "Shoh-gn"

Omg the pronunciations are terrible, the vowel sounds are so inaccurate, but damn this game looks beautiful!
Found the weeb
>inb4 another kickstarter failure.
After the success of Blood Rage?! If this game doesn't get funded with multiple stretch goals met, I'd be very surprised.
He either means Kickstarter's payment stuff will crash due to the amount of people causing an overload on the server, or that the game is going to have a ton of delays and piss off people and not be a very good game. I am assuming the first though.
Meh. I already own Risk.
This game looks less like risk, and doesn't even look like it will play anything like it. Blood Rage was like risk. Rising Sun is supposed to be like Diplomacy.
topkek m8
Whereas the distant ancestor of Blood Rage was Risk, Rising Sun claims Diplomacy as its distant ancestor.
I see zero similarity between Blood Rage and Risk.
It's funny you say that because I only repeated what the designer said. And you're silly if you see no similarities between the two.
