I am African American and I like different types of music. The Cult was the headlining act at the first concert I ever went to. At that time Fire Woman had just started to chart. They blew me away as well. I loved your reaction!!!
I was 18 when this came out, and this band has remained so special to me. I saw them live in 1990. I had long hair for 10 years because I was inspired by Ian (the lead singer), and I have met him in person and shaken his hand. He had a sweet, authentic, powerful energy. Another interesting thing this band has taught me is what a producer does for an album- they first recorded many songs for their album "Electric" (one of the finest rock n roll albums ever) in England (called "The Manor Sessions"), but weren't happy and came to USA to work with the wizard, Rick Rubin, and the recordings were so completely different! Also, look up Rick Rubin on YT if you don't know about him- he is a force of nature.
I met them on tour Florida I the early 90s. Check out there song I think it's called Sweet soul sister. I had a outfit alot like that then I looked . If I wore it today I look like a fool😂
The Cult was one of the best southern rock bands post-70's. High energy and a hard-edged, distinctly southern sound, they were often underrated at the time, but were really the true successors to bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and .38 Special. A deeper dive into their library will convince you...
@@DTSQUAD The pre-Cult version of the band was called the Southern Death Cult, but it has absolutely nothing to do with "southern rock". They were a British goth post-punk new wave rock band. Then they turned to rawer rock and then evolved to smoother and fatter production, the vibe often being very large. Their rawest hyper testosterone rock you can hear on the Electric album, like on "Love Removal Machine" which you really want to check out if you like pure raw male sex energy in music.
I would never send you a group you wouldn't love..❤ now my nephew "Hayden Hunter and the yearly trials" is up and coming band in Mississippi Louisiana and Tennessee. You a southern girl im sure you would love him. He writes his own music plays amazing guitar and is also the singer in his 3 piece band.. check out the "wage song" his guitar skills are outstanding..but look at his uncle Dan...lol
@@DTSQUAD no baby, thank YOU. you make me happy and sad at the same time - happy because you're so beautiful and sad that I'm too old to track you down and sweep you off your feet.
As a old white dude who knows all this music I love seeing black people enjoy music I heard a million times. Music should united us all in love and joy. Try Joy Division and New Order and Pixies.

Oh.... wow thank you
That sound was more psychedelic than southern
Not unless it was Southern England, as they come from Yorkshire in England.
