- How to reset the "Service now!" maintenance interval message in most Volkswagen cars with MFD (Multi Function Display) / MFA / MFA Plus. You should perform this reset every time you change the engine oil on your car.
You don't need diagnostic tools like VCDS to do this reset procedure.
This tutorial will work for most of modern Volkswagen cars:
- Golf MK6 / MK7
- Jetta MK6 / MK7
- Passat B7
- Caddy lift
- Tiguan
- Touran MK2
Procedure:
- Turn the ignition on.
- Press and hold TRIP button on the wipers stalk (right side of the steering wheel).
- Use the TRIP buttons to navigate and OK/Reset button to confirm.
- Go to SETUP → Service interval → Reset and confirm the reset procedure.
- Turn the ignition off.
In cars without MFD/MFA you can try this procedure:
- Press and hold 0.0/SET button (right side of the instrument cluster).
- Turn the ignition on.
- Release the 0.0/SET button.
- Press menu button (left side of the instrument cluster).
- Turn the ignition off.
Please leave a LIKE it only takes 1 second.
Thanks very much!
Thank you. I’ve seen several videos to reset that service notification and this is the only video that helped me. Thank you. 🙏
You are welcome. I'm glad it helped
Faain
With some versions you’d have to pull the side button upwards. The rest of what you explained was the correct way. Thanks!
👍
Learned a lesson today, if you don't reset the service light for a certain number of days after the countdown, the engine won't start
Hi, I think that's for the adblue, when it says 0 then the engine will not start.
@WhatTube my van doesn't have adblue though
Thank you finaly a video the actually worked
You're welcome 👍
Why it doesn't work on me?
It's a touran 2011 with same panel as yours.
When i turn the ignition it makes one beep ,writes "service" and blinks a mechanics key on the screen.
Hi, there are 3 different locations of the trip buttons, 1st it's like in the video, 2nd on the steering wheel and 3rd on the dashboard itself.
I reckon down press down , but press up on the button it worked for me
Why did they do it... And then you have to reset the inspection. Anyone seeing this - hazards on, foot on the brake, start the car. Someone needs to be in prison for this.
Mate, you are an absolute life saver. This has been annoying me for so long 😂

Same I was all thumbs till I saw this

Does service now light suppose to come on for a couple seconds when you start car?
Hi, normally it is not supposed to appear when you start the car.
You’re not showing the damn buttons you are pressing
Hi,
I actually thought I showed the buttons in a good and easy way.
Check it from 0:55
Thanks.
Also for anybody that does not have buttons on their steering wheel this can be done by holding the trip button-down on the end of the wiper arm control
Nice
Thank you 👍
