- Today we lost a great comedian and performer. So to honour their legacy, here's an episode of Lily Savage's Blankety Blank. This is the second and final series she did for the BBC, which there doesn't seem to be much of online - so please enjoy.
This episode features Keith Barron, Dame Thora Hird, Steve Rider, Sherrie Hewson, Will Mellor and Malandra Burrows.

"Half of them weren't there for the conception!" God, Lil was as quick-witted as anyone I've ever seen. Priceless stuff!!! Paul, there'll never be another - perhaps one or two pale imitations - but you'll always be at the top of the tree. Rest easy, mate.

Thanks for this upload! Takes me back to when I was younger and didn't know Lily was a character, I thought she was a real lady with a bit of a deep voice and a personality larger than life. Thank you, Paul, for creating such wonderful childhood memories for me and so many others 😊

I'm surprised that Challenge only got the 2001-02 version of Lily Savage's version of Blankety Blank and not including the original 1997-99 BBC version. (Yep, there was a Christmas special from 1997 before getting a full series in 1998.)
They always seemed to go for ITV shows more than the Beeb from what I've noticed. Speaking of, have they actually acquired anything in the last couple years? Always seems to be the same dozenish shows when I look at their schedules. Don't even think they show Millionaire anymore, and I remember when that was like a quarter of the schedule.
@@osc1541 They only acquire ITV shows of the past few years. Tenable is their current buy-in...zzzzz. Nowadays AT LEAST Nine hours-a-day is devoted to The Chase. TOTAL OVERKILL.
@@osc1541they used to do original programmes too but Timeline with Brian Conley was the last original show they did and that was over 10 years ago. Now it’s constant The Chase and Bruce’s Price Is Right. Much better when it was owned by Virgin Media when you had Bob’s Full House, 321 and You Bet. Sky took over and this is the result. They just constantly rerun the same shows. When they finish they rerun what they’ve got again but put in a different time slot. The only new things on there recently is Scrapheap Challenge and the first series of Dickinsons Real Deal. Apart from that the same old shows theyve shown for years.
A 1998 episode did air on the BBC a few minutes ago.

13:36 - that 150 blanks prize of a digital stills camera looks exactly like the one I bought when I was working in London in 1999/2000. Listening to what Lily says about the prize suggests it's one of the early models and it's so old it even pre-dates the USB connector.
probably a collectable item by now! i got hold of a sony mavica thing that uses floppy disks!!

Terry Wogan, Les Dawson, Lily Savage or Bradley Walsh
Perhaps it's the childhood nostalgia talking, but I pick Lily Savage without a doubt. She's the one that made me laugh the most, though Les Dawson is good as well. No one can beat Lily as a host on this gameshow if I'm honest, Lily set the bar very high. RIP Lily Savage/Paul O Grady!
