@Nikolas Wolf: I emailed Ron Jarzombek about how he made the click tracks for The Animation of Entomology, and he says he often had to change the tempo by only a few BPM to get the track to match what was happening in the video. I think that's the case there. No subdivision fanciness, just a very uncommon compositional technique.
Elias Simon seems like something that would be easier composed with a tempo change rather than a change in subdivision, not that it's probably not possible
