    Not only is this song friggin' amazing, the production has a very organic & raw feel. Very violent guitar tone. Guess I better get my VISA ready to buy this CD! Great job, HG! ♬

      He's way up there for me for sure. Not my absolute top guy though. Lately I've been wondering if my other favorite drummer/composer is worthy of that accolade with incredible masterpieces like this under his belt: ruclips.net/video/eJozrDgRNLo/видео.html

    6 minutes in reminds me of some Opeth from the My Arms, Your Hearse days. Great song.

    • @Zyborggian
      @Zyborggian 10 лет назад

      Ive gathered that Hannes really fucking digs Opeth so the fact that theyre an inescapable subconscious influence to SOME degree isn't surprising.....
      But I also read him write somewhere (at least I think it was him) that he sees what he's trying to work on these days as being "contrary to Opeth"
      *shrugs*

    • @jamespeterson4275
      @jamespeterson4275 9 лет назад

      +Zyborggian This is Zyborggian. I was wrong. In case the original commenter even sees this. Just want to set the record straight that Opeth is really hit or miss for Hannes from what he told me (much like Periphery is for me) and that hearing that era of Opeth (late 90s to mid 2000s) just opened doors for him in what he felt he could express in his music. Again I feel the same way about VERY select picks from Periphery haha. Some of their stuff is infinitely more prog than their other stuff...

    This is my favorite song from your first solo album Hannes Grossmann. I wonder would you have used this song on Obscura’s fourth album Akróasis if you didn’t step down from drumming in Obscura? Please correct me if I’m wrong otherwise? The title of this song is really cool to and so technical as well I love it and The vocals and guitars and bass guitar all rock too with the drums as well! 10/10 for me!

    Sovereign and subtle sources of souls
    Planets mightily merge in one vacuity
    A distant dream from afar arises, arises by the sea
    Untouched by immense unlight to be
    Life flows across in aeons of human self-conceit
    Call me the devil, call to arms darkest one
    To be your voice in the dark
    Call me your horror, call me to crave
    when your heaven is torn apart
    Untouched but seen by those yet unseen
    Light flows across for aeons in spectral self-conceit
    Call me the devil, call me the flame, call me when your heaven is torn apart
    Oh blackest aeon - evaluated force
    Holy mother, dreadful creature - be the reason for all cause
    Sing for me rightful father - marrow of the soul
    Sacred seal of iniquity open up, open up thy womb
    Severed souls, take me to the netherworld
    where sacred souls take you down inside
    This blood guilt incurred by communion
    casts down the flame of hate to one
    Untouched by immense unlight to be
    Life flows across in aeons of shallow hearted self-conceit
    I see you burn in rousing fire
    What came from the water must be drowned in the sea

    who did the solo?

    • @ShaneClough
      @ShaneClough 11 лет назад +1

      It doesn't actually say who did this solo in the booklet. It does say "solo: Hannes (with friendly help of samplitude crossfades)" But this may be in reference to the 4 bar drum solo section about 30 seconds before the guitar solo. But maybe Hannes did play the guitar solo, he can play guitar...

    • @SatanMcCool
      @SatanMcCool  11 лет назад +15

      Shane Clough
      I composed and played the solo...but I had to make a lot of cuts and edits. First I wanted to record a demo to show the guitar player soling how I think the solo should sound like. But then it turned out to be like this and I thought "that's good enough already". Even though it's heavily pro-tooled. That ending run...I can't play stuff like that to be honest, I just know the theory behind it.

    • @Claudio_gmb
      @Claudio_gmb 11 лет назад +3

      Johannes Großmann
      Shane Clough I asked because I thought..."that solo isn't in the style of any of the guest". Awesome song btw

    • @jamespeterson4275

      +MrAntihumanism He definitely did. The whole reason why this album exists and wasn't Akroasis is BECAUSE he knew haha.

    • @MrAntihumanism
      @MrAntihumanism 9 лет назад +1

      Such a shame because Akroasis so far isn't that good. Some really lacklustre tracks.

    • @jamespeterson4275
      @jamespeterson4275 9 лет назад

      I agree it's not as good but still I love all 3 singles and when I get home to my apartment tonight I'm going to listen to my vinyl and finally hear what the fuss is about for people that like this album haha. Tom & Linus's contributions from what I've heard so far are really cool and Steffen's sound is obvious and easy to distinguish. Honestly it sounds like I expected it to without Hannes so I'm happy :) Just not head over heels crazy about it like I was with this album's release. But Hannes said there's none of his signature approach to neoclassical/harmonic minor melodies and so far thats proving true... haha

    • @jonp.3674
      @jonp.3674 11 лет назад +9

      I think he is responsible for 90% of the material. He has also included a bunch of external musicians. But yes, I agree, should have just made it Obscura stuff. This album seems like an ego trip. He was probably jealous of Christian's solo project xD
      But it's fucking rad anyway so who cares? \:D/

    • @SatanMcCool
      @SatanMcCool  11 лет назад +33

      It might sound similar, but I arrived at a point with these songs where I didn't wanna have any compromises. In Obscura I don't write lyrics, don't compose any vocal lines or solos. If I'd do so it wouldn't be a band anymore, because in a band you work together and make compromises...you're getting it now?

    • @death7p
      @death7p 11 лет назад +3

      in that point of view...i guess i do

    • @DeathStarLuke
      @DeathStarLuke 5 лет назад +3

      @@jonp.3674 Yeah... this is 5 years late.
      You guys are hilarious. You speak as if he was the founder of the band and had complete control or something. It wasn't his band, and he can't just write all the music for a band that's not his. That's why he did solo stuff. Cause he wanted to write all the music. Or most of it, anyway.
      It should not have taken an explanation from the man himself to figure this out.
      And to say he made this music cause he was on an ego trip and jealous of someone else's music? Honestly, you're just a dick. He's a musician, and wanted to write music on his own. Just like all the thousands of other artists who have produced art with little or no collaboration. I suppose you think if someone does a painting they are on an ego trip or jealous of other people's work?
