Absolutely blown away! I've seen utmost dedication of fans here in Japan as a basketball photographer but this is an entirely different universe. Fantastic documentary. Thank you for making this.
You are lucky then because in most games I've seen in Japan the fans, as well as the games themselves, have been pretty lame, basically the 3rd type of fans the Serbian journalist describes in the video. You can see dedication and certainly "passion" in baseball fans from some particular teams.
The docomentary is to 100%. I am living in Germany as a serbian and my father always sing red stars songs since i was lit. born. For example when my dad has birthday he always got a red star cake and often we sang some red star songs at birthdays. We often book flights from Germany to belgrade just to see them playing. 10.1 i will be there against real madrid

It was 23rd of May, 2022..I was on ABA league Semifinal Game 3 between Red Star and Cedevita Olimpija.. Being first time in Pionir aka. Aleksandar Nikolic Hall was awesome!
The atmosphere was crazyyy 🔥
I watched the game with my female friend, sitting courtside, supporting the Away team Olimpija.. I remember clapping and cheering when Ferrell of Cedevita Olimpija scored his first bucket of the game and shortly after the security guard came in to me and said that I'm not able cheer up for the guest team or otherwise he will have to do something about it and I will have to move on.. From that moment on, for the rest of the game I didn't dare to cheer or clap anymore, I just watched the game.. The atmosohere and energy in the arena was something different and it wasn't even a derby between Zvezda and Partizan.. CRAZY

Firstly, I am amazed by the objectivity and background displayed in this documentary. It is very deep topic to comment things here from 90s till today, and for the American (?) production, I really respect how you managed to include bad and good things without insulting any side.
Also, I feel like I am one of the rare persons who had a chance to follow whole Red star season and Partizan's as well from the court, and even inside the changing rooms or many other parts of the arena and organisation where even people who followed their clubs for 30 years don't have a chance to see. Also, I am really not into any of these clubs and personally think that being older than 16, you should take care of your life and be a little less childish than showing your middle finger to some teenage basketball player because your team is the opposite. What are the differences between basketball fans: Partizan fans feel the basketball better. Actually, it comes from the draft years and boycott by Delije, and I saw it live five years ago when people in stance say "Why did you call a faul, he was having a fast-break" to referee. It's funny and it showed that many Red Star fans came from Marakana stadium to Pionir.
On the other hand, Partizan fans live from the old days glory. They are nothing like Partizan fans in 2010, they are fractured, and very "entitled" thinking that they are avant-garde, or that the system is against them, but actually politically their fans are as connected to the corrupted gov. as the other ones. They are better in improvising, have much cooler songs from the "speakers" (rock style in compassion to slow and boring songs), but that's only personal taste. Delije are much better organised, have better choreographies and marketing (also applicable for BC organisation). They are also 3x more "Kosovo/Serbia/Russia" aware than black&white fans and that field is very underrated when it comes to being a Serb. No one mentioned that actually there are around million CZV fans more in the country.
But for me the biggest problem with Delije is this example: Few years ago, they played against Galatasaray in Turkey and made such a big win under crazy circumstances against the team which CVZ fans hate because they lost a person in a fight with Turks. It was such a great match, and 2,3 days later CZV played maybe against Igokea or some Slovenian team in Belgrade in ABA league, weekend. There were less than 1000 fans in the stances to "welcome their heroes back". I felt ashamed being in Pionir and hearing the shoes of players. At that moment I realised that basketball culture of CZV is very low and they basically took Pionir as a substitute for not great accomplishments in football, but in reality they only came to watch Euroleague and big games like derby.
That is not happening to Partizan, but on a contrary their fans feel 2000 seats on JNA stadium when it comes to football. I can go on forever, I am saying that I know both from inside and watched a lot of games and would be 2 hours before and 1 hour after the game. Partizan fans are ridiculous with the chaotic world they live in. They had some tough losses which changed their club a lot, but still like to present themselves as a factory of talents and "Temple of the basketball" even though right now they have 5 foreign players in the starting five. To make some point because I will be called out by both sides: Making a reputation and tourism by having the best derby in the world is such a bizarre thing.
Both groups don't come to support National team and we have kids singing instead of real crowd there. Many sport fields and parks are empty because no one really is working out, but they both believe that we are "sport nation". Both sides are used to tranquilize political dissatisfaction in the country, but they give lessons about Orthodox tradition or 28th of June.
There are so many reasons not to attend any of these games today (political, safety, lack of basketball...) but you have thousands of people in the country like the last guy in the video who basically said that winning a Championship made him happier than getting a son or something. It's called emotional intelligence and maturity. I've seen it everywhere in Balkans and that's the reason why French people go out on streets to protest gas prices, but these people would be satisfied whole their lives living in poverty and misery, while someone is selling Kosovo or renting an apartment in Belgrade for one whole average salary. These kind of documentaries only emphasize it and make these people feel more important. In reality, if you closed stadiums and Pionir for one year, this country would see a change.
Bravo, sve si objasnio, Delije i Grobari su se prodali za novce i privilegije, jedni grade i peru, drugi diluju i plase za gazdu, nikad niko protiv njega da pisne sa Severa i Juga( svaka cast Partizanovcima na istoku).

Апсолутна глупост, значи не зна се ко је већа улизица и потрчко, Човић или он. А то се све дешава када почиње милион ствари на Косову да се дешава против нас (таблице, у Хочи отимају вино нашим људима, овом се нуди решење од Немаца и Француза). И нама ће три дана да буде тема дерби, у ствари ово се и ради да би се догодило неко срање и о томе причало после, јер овој држави одговара да се само и дешавају споредне ствари а да се пажња скрене са проблема. Значи, нама треба да Влаховић буде борац за Косово, а не тамо нека корумпирана Српска листа која је била у парламенту непризнате државе. Прејадни смо, а навијачи најјаднији.
Druže moj, vrlo lepo i precizno si objasnio pojmove "delije" i "grobari", ali mnogo toga što si posle toga tako samouvereno rekao je sranje. Pre svega da ti kažem da se kurac ne bi promenio u državi kad bi se zaključao Pionir, osim što bi eventualno ti ljudi koji su ga posećivali povećali međusobne sukobe u gradu zbog viška testosterona i energije.
Veliki broj ljudi u ovoj državi (u odnosu na ukupan broj stanovnika) je na neki način povezano sa ova dva sportska kluba, i mislim da sa nedovoljno poštovanja govoriš o svemu tome. Vidim da velik značaj pridaješ patriotizmu i pravoslavlju i daješ sebi za pravo da upireš prstom i osuđuješ nekoga za manjak istog, veruj mi da nisi ništa veći patriota ni od mene ni od bilo kog drugog srbina. To što publika ne dolazi na utakmice reprezentacije nema nikakve veze sa patriotizmom.
U osnovi pravoslavlja je vera u nešto apstraktno, nešto sveto čemu se klanjaš i praktično poklanjaš život tome, zar ne? Pokušaj da pronadješ sličnost u tome i ideologiji navijanja za sportsko udruženje i možda se približiš shvatanju toga.
Naš zajednički problem koji imamo kao nacija je naš ponos, koji je u suštini opravdan, i on je razlog zašto verovatno i postojimo danas a moguće je i da će biti razlog zašto smo svi stali pod jednu krušku. Ali kao što se ti ponosiš kosovskim bojem i vidovdanom kao ljuti patriota tako se ja ponosim barijem i tokijom kao delija. Iz iste perspektive gledamo na različite stvari, pokušaj to da prihvatiš.
Just watch Partisan fans in Euroleague. Amaizing! They have I think more than 15.000 yearly cards for watching (and every game they are more than 20.000+). If they have a city hall with 45.000, every game it will be full. Respect 🇷🇸➡️⚫⚪

Bravo care na komentaru...Slazem se potpuno...Treba samo da neko objavi u komentaru da se radi o 2 velikana...Da je u fudbalu Zvezda bila sampion Evrope i Sveta 1991 a da je Partizan osvojio Euroligu 1992. I onda je rat sve sjebao kao i visegodisnje sankcije koje su uvele savet bezbednosti...Sve napisati na Engleskom...Mnogi i ne znaju za te najvece osvojene trofeje..Takodje objaviti imena najvecih igraca koji su nosili te dresove, bilo da se radi o basketu ili fudbalu.
Ali zamisli taj sklop u glavama... Stranci naprave sjajan dokumentarac i onda stoka komentariše ispod - ne to nije derbi već obračuni kriminalaca, Partizan ne valja, Zvezda je ugašena, derbi je sranje bla bla. Google translate fakat pravi probleme ;).

As a sports fan, it is hard not to admire Yugoslavia and now Serbia's success. As for basketball, I can say that a documentary on the most important rivalry is long overdue. However, the documentary focuses more on the games of the period. I would like to learn more about the history of this rivalry. If a mini-documentary is made on known digital platforms, I would buy a subscription just for that.
Bravo for Zvezda. But Partizan fans are no 1. in entire world. Basketball is Partizan! Unique atmosphere.
Crvena Zvezda fans boycott the ABA league and do not come to the games, what you see in the video are "ordinary" fans, without organized cheering. Look at the cheering of the Crvena Zvezda fans in the Euroleague and you will see who are the best fans in the world.

@@upicku ko kaze da prava zvezda nije postojala od 2011-2015. Klub je postojao ,ali se nije takmicio odnosno nije mogao da funkcionise .Umesto toga te 4 godine Zvezda se takmicila preko pravnog subjekta FMP-a ali to je samo bilo na odredjeni period , a ne kao sto vi imate teorije zavere kako je ovo danas FMP1 ili 2 ili tako neke gluposti.To mozes maglu da prosipas ovima koji pojma nemaju sta je i kako je bilo ? Klub ili firma koji(a) je podnosilac UPPR se ne gasi odnosno ne brise se iz registra. Postoji dokument u kome sve to pise.
