That connector you had in your hand is a the refrigerant pressure switch. It connects to the accumulator/drier. You need that to make the compressor come on.
Same issue. It’s your alternator not being able to push enough voltage to handle the load. I went from 105a to 135a and mine work on all speeds not. It’s not your blower motor, resistor, or anything else. Just need a stronger alternator.
I have a 87 Chevy Caprice your fuse is in your fuse box there's a red wire that goes into your firewall and into a junction box a red wire comes off the junction box and go straight to your relay there is an inline fuse make sure it's not burned out

That plug goes to pressure switch needs to be hooked up for ac to work and u can hook them vacuum lines up to back of carb
I have the same issue with mine did you find the issue
Hook vacuum up to the intake manifold
The vacuum uneder the dash hooked it up to vacuum works now
