This is a CLASSIC LOL. Tim Conway would always try to break up the other actors by ad libbing stuff they didn't expect - especially Harvey Corman. These two have a lot of great skits. So glad you found it as funny thanks lol.
Harvey Corman confessed years later that he actually wet himself during this skit. Tim Conway was a master of improvisation.
That was the goal of these two. They both worked to get the others in the cast to lose it. It happened more than you know. They taped in front of a Live audience so all the laughter is real. This being so the might have to edit this way down or do multiple takes just to get enough 'good' tape for the show.
Harvey never knew what Tim was going to do next and he could hardly keep from laughing. Tim was so funny.
One of my favorite scenes is the gone with the wind sketch. But every show was a treat Carol burnett show is the greatest

This is one of the funniest skits. I grew up watching the Carol Burnett show. Tim Conway was my favorite. He would change & improvise the skits & get everyone to crack up. Poor Harvey Korman is completely losing it.

These 2 hardly ever got thru a skit without Harvey laughing and breaking up. These 2 were great and this skit is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

This is what live televison shows looked like back in the day,. Carol Burnett show was one of those the funniest and best shows on at that time
...and THAT is prime Carol Burnett Show. Any skit, any rerun, give it a watch. They're all live sketches done by pantomime and slapstick masters of comedy. Greats in their time. Carol herself a Queen of Comedy for the Ages.
This is called great show with great comedians.
These two guys have such a long history together, they can't help taking a skit to the limit. And it's almost always poor Harvey who can't help breaking up when Tim takes it to the max - Tim never seemed to stick to the script, so nobody ever knew what he'd do next! That's why Harvey started breaking up even before Tim really got started. This is one of the best skits by one of the greatest duos ever. I miss them so much, but at least we have these great shows to remember by.

I love seeing new generations of audiences discovering the brilliance of this show and these performers. Seeing your reactions takes me back decades to the time when I saw this during its initial broadcast with my own family laughing with open mouthed surprise at something we had never seen before. And haven't since! Great comedy is truly timeless.
Tim Conway was such a gifted comedian. His timing was perfect, let alone all the stuff he did that no one on the set knew was coming. Often the best part of the Carol Burnett Show was Tim Conway making them laugh in their scenes. I loved him!
This is really funny but if you want to see him break the other actor’s characters, watch his Elephant Story skit. It is funny watching the other characters and Vicki Lawrence’s (Mama) reply. 😂😂😂😂

This is why our generation was one of the best ever. If you grew up watching this show ans others, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Hee-Haw was another one, along with Benny Hill. I use to watch this with my grandparents right after the greatest talk show host ever presented, which was Here's Johnny!! Johnny Carson was iconic. Anyway, these were the best times ever to watch TV. It was the day before agenda, pushing and pandering. They just were down right great actors. What a time to be Alive. Thanks Adogg, Great reaction, I think if more people would take some time off of the internet and watched these type of shows we would be a much happier people.

What is this - this is what you got every Carol Burnett show. Great skits performed by excellent comedians! We sat around the TV every week and never missed her show.
Love Carroll Burnett, they are hilarious. Mama's family is hilarious too.
They had a dress rehearsal earlier and then did the live show after. Tim would always do it one way in rehearsal and then adlib it during the live show to try to crack up (break character) of the others. Vicki Lawrence said that in an interview on the famous "Elephant story" skit and so that's when she adlibbed her own at the end that made Tim break up laughing.
I grew up watching the carol burnette show, fond memories of many many great laughs and good times from a better time

I grew up with Carol Burnett and Red Skeleton and still think that they were two of the funniest programs ever. They had the ability to make you laugh without making you feel like they were laughing at you. Red made the claim that anyone could make you laugh as a natural reaction if they made you uncomfortable but not everyone could make you feel good while laughing. Tim and Harvey were comedy gold when together.
You have to see the one about the elephants. I laugh so hard every time I see it I cry!

I laughed more at your reaction. OMG I thought I was going to pee my pants 😆 and that's a daily occurrence when you're over 70. I had these shows weekly on my TV. It was the most HILARIOUS show ever. These two were master's of their craft. You kids have missed some really good show's. Please do more. THANKS

Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were always doing skits together. Harvey would constantly have to fight to keep from laughing. Tim was a great visual comic! This was one of the best shows on tv. I was blessed to grow up in the 60's! Great music and tv!

We use to watch the Carol Burnett show every week. It's filmed in front of a live audience...so there are no retakes. The Golden Girls are hilarious too and also filmed front of a live audience.

When I was a kid the Carol Burnet Show was must see TV for the whole family on Saturday nights. So many great skits like this one. Tim Conway was always trying to make the others break character. Such great memories.
So glad you got to see this skit. The Carol Burnett Show was so funny. Growing up with this show ...we couldn't wait for the next week to roll around. Harvey Korman was one of the original cast members. When Tim Conway first appeared on the show he was so funny that they repeatedly asked him to come back on the show. When he started to go off script and improvise none of the other cast members or guests kept a straight face. I have many fond memories of this show...Enjoyed your reaction👍💜

This was really comedy and Tim Conway was a pro and always had Harvey Korman in stitches. I used to watch this every Saturday night. One of my favourite shows.

I also grew up with this show. It was amazing then and it is amazing now. No matter how many times I've seen this show it still cracks me up! I'm adding it to my dvd collection. It's a "must have" when the internet/cable goes out.
I would watch the reruns of the Carol Burnett show every afternoon while doing homework. They are just as funny now as they were back then no matter how many times you watch them. God bless.

Our family watched the Carol Burnett show when it was new in the '60s. I think we all about peed ourselves every Saturday. Both the regulars and some of the comedic guests were frippin' hilarious. I think the nature of the show inspired them to new heights of breaking character, as well. You could tell when someone broke character, because the others would crack up, since it wasn't rehearsed.
TimConway was always throwing in unexpected things on their skits that weren’t rehearsed. He was a Master at impromptu comedy.

The Dentist is one of my favorite skits from the Carol Burnett show. Behind the scenes fun fact....The guy who plays the dentist (Tim Conway) would get together before hand with the production crew and develope secret additional parts to the skit without telling anyone. For example, the fly smack, the rolling chair and the final stab to the forehead was a complete surprise to the guy in the chair. What you saw was a true reaction. No one knew about it but the dentist. The guy in the chair (Harvey Coleman) almost peed himself laughing. True story. This was a comedy! No need for curse words or frisky double meanings to make people 😂 laugh. This was pure fun.
Tim's goal was to make them all laugh. He would even veer off skit. Harvey's ended up laughing the most. They never knew what he was going to do!

It was live, part improv, and Tim always made the other comics break character! It was from the late '70s.
"Went with the Wind" was my favorite. I laugh until I cry on that one (although I did that on the dentist too!) Loved your reaction. Carol Burnett had talented people, the comedians and writers were great. Good clean comedy that was funny.
this was all live so there always room for error, laughter....or both. LOL. Tim Conway and Harvey Korman are comedy gold as a team.

These two are so good together, as we'll the rest of the cast. It was they would shot straight through then when filming Tim Conway went and did something different and that is why the others went nuts.
