Thanks Marty I struggle with playing these days because of a stupid thing called epilepsy but I really enjoyed this post and being a Hendrix fan from way back this will be a great method for me to practice and make my dyslexic fingers do what they are supposed too... Your a Legend and have been a big help in my rehab mate :)
seriously marty thank you so much, I'd be hard pressed to find another teacher who puts so much depth and substance into their FREE lessons. you're bringing up a whole generation of musicians and it's fantastic. you are awesome at what you do man and i couldn't be more grateful. lol you rock dude.
Marty you're the best, and I'm not just saying that to win your DVD I really mean it. You allow people to play guitar in a fun way that keeps the passion inside them. Being able to turn on one of your videos, and be playing the full song in minutes, is something that only YOU can do. I sure wish I could win this DVD, I would learn sooo much from it! Thanks Marty, Justin
I've been using Justin's and Papastache's lessons recently, but I always enjoy coming back to your videos for breathers. I can't forget where I started learning guitar. You made the first couple of years not only bearable, but enjoyable. Thank you for that, Marty.
Marty, I have enjoyed lots of your videos and learned a lot from them, for some reason one of the highlights is always the high energy hello that you throw in at the beginning. Not sure how intentional it is, but it makes me smile every time I watch. Thanks for all your work and good luck with the video sales.
Oh my gosh. I think this is one of the biggest ground breaking lessons of my five years of playing. I've heard these phrases so many times and wondered what was being done. I feel like I just discovered an amazing guitar players secret lol. Thank you! Cant wait to practice this.
I've been learning so much since I've found guitarjamz.com 5 years ago. Can't imagine being able to jam with many great players that I do on a regular basis. Keep the great lessons coming!
Thanks Marty I always try to find your tutorials because of your laid back easy to understand lessons, and you put out the sort of stuff like Hendrix I'm interested in.
You killed it Marty. After hearing thousands of Radiators, Grateful Dead and Phish shows this is a large part of what I hear those guys do! Thanks for enlightening me. I am a loyal Marty Whassup Fan!
Thanks so much Marty for your channel, you have taught me to play over the past two years from my first G chord to soloing concepts. It is also great to learn from someone who loves the blues.
This video was so easy to understand. I've been looking for lessons like this. I think you got the right blend of theory and practical examples to make the ideas easy to understand. Thanks!
Marty! I have been watching your vids for several years now. You gotta be a great guy in real life! I just wanna say thanks for putting it down straight for all of us! As Keith Richards might say, "Gold rings on ya dude!" Thanks again! Jeff in North Carolina.
good work on this lesson Marty, it really drove it home for me- finally. The concept is applicable in the major and minor keys and it's now in my back pocket! A very well thought out and perfectly demonstrated lesson.
Marty, this was really cool. I began studying (actually decided to really start studying after 25 years of self teaching). This lesson was great: easy way of using rhythm as a melodic line. Way cool way of thinking about the minor/major use of a concept. Really dig it! Thank you very much for this.
Great Video and thank you for the lessons Marty! Your Videos have been helping me so much!! Love the variety in your lessons as well! Way better then the former guitar "teacher" I had a few years back. Hope you continue doing what you love man. Your an inspiration to guitar players everywhere!
It's amazing the things you realise you know just from someone pointing it out to you. I think that's why Jimi was great, he didn't really need anyone to show him on to use what he knows creatively.
Marty, I'm catching this while I'm half asleep tonight, but I find myself pulling out the Strat to follow along a second time. Some really nice moves... and not seeming too hard to make it sound sweet. Thanks for all the tips!
I've learned these techniques from you and papa stache many times, but every lesson sparks something new. Thanks again Marty. LOOP PEDAL! So important for practice! Buying a new battery tomorrow! Peace!
Way cool, you should do more videos on concepts and techniques. As nice as it is to have you there to teach me a single song, the videos like this help to be able to make my own stuff and just jam. This is definitely something I would buy. I hope to see more of this for Acoustic and Electric. You've done a great job Marty. Keep it up.
You are awesome man! I've been watching you for a few years now. I bought the Acoustic tricks and tips with the 4 pack blues add on. It was the 12 dvd set you sold just over a year ago. Its really helped me come a long way. I highly recommend it to anyone reading this. You truly have a talent Marty, I'm glad you're willing to share it with us all. You Rock Marty!!!
Brilliant marty. Lovin' all of the Hendrixy stuff, but this is an absolute corker! It always seemed like ad lib/jamming stuff was only for advanced players, but it's amazing how easy you make it. Very grateful, dude
I think this is one of the best riff played by Hendrix. Perfect Combination of G and Em. Thanks Marty. It would be great if i could learn the complete solo.
Great video Marty.I love hendrix. So far learning guitar from you, I never popped a guitar string. I would really like to win your contest because I never had any of your DVDs but It really doesn't matter, you've helped me so much by doing these videos.I went from totally sucking on guitar to getting close to what I want to sound like.I'm forever thankful to you Marty for helping play guitar. You Rock.
Being a slow learning beginner this is beyond me, yet the way your explaining it I can actually get some understanding of the why and how's ......your definitely doing what your meant to be doing .
Cheers Marty, I have learnt a great deal from watching your guitar lessons. Thank you for helping me to improve my guitar playing. You and Papastache really inspire me : )
Excellent video thank you for posting. This concept is an excellent bridge between seeing pentatonic notes over chords. The portals you were discussing as you said are just pieces of chords so it's easy to see when you think of rhythm and it's also easy to switch into "soloing mode" and see how the notes fit into the pentatonics underneath the chords.
Absolutely great lesson Marty - I know I've seen this concept from you before in another video very similar to this one. Great job as always. If you could tap into some more modal concepts as you alluded to, that'd be great man. I'd absolutely love to see more modal/natural scale type soloing/chordal/double stoppy stuff from you. You've brought me so far in just a year man, it's incredible. Appreciate all you do.
Awesome lesson! A cool concept I'd never really implemented! If there's some beginners watching this, don't skip out on this info! It's pure gold! I'd love to see more of this, it's really interesting, I didn't know that working some major stuff over the relative minor was considered modal! Thanks for this video Marty!
My playing has been majorly improved by the video Marty and my frustration trying to get the Hendrix sound has been minorly improved..... relatively speaking!! Thanks mate
Marty Iv been learning tricks for about 2 to 3 years and this is my first comment and just subspribed gotta say compared to every other online teacher ur ********* dope and Ur not an ego manaic that's why I watch u keep it up buddy!!! Mean the world if u replyed
awesome video sir! being very new to guitar in general I am always very excited to watch any video you post and try and soak up as much as I can. thanks for all you do sir!
Hey Marty! I love your lessons! Ive been playing guitar for a couple months now and thanks to your videos on youtube , i have improved immensely!! Jimi Hendrix is one my favorite guitar player ! Only other guitarists that inspires me like him is Santana. But anyways I love blue, I love this technique and I would Love to win those lessons !!
Beautiful lesson ! Another way to think of it is, when using the technique over the minor chord is that they're notes from the minor pentatonic box 2. This helps me understand the concept a bit better
Hey Marty, Really good lesson. They're usually pretty good but this one really clicked with me. I've been a big fan for several years. I was thinking the other day how much you'd be missed if for some reason you were no longer able to do lessons. I just want you to know that you are appreciated. Also, I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed the video you did a few years ago that showed your studio and the neat guitar toys you have. I'd like to see an update to that video. I know you've gotten quite a few new guitars since then.

Dude that little trick for finding Major/Relative Minor and vice versa was great! Also, i could just sit back and listen to that rhythm groove all day
I've been learning so much since I've found guitarjamz.com 5 years ago. Can't imagine being able to jam with many great players that I do on a regular basis. Keep the great lessons coming!

I've learned more from your youtube channel in the last few months than in the last few years of playing. thanks!
Can't ever have enough of the Hendrix lessons. Thanks Marty!

Another very inspiring lesson Marty, you make guitar playing easy enough for anybody who is determined to learn! Thanks a lot!

This is exactly what ive been working on. So many songs or progressions where these type of embellishments sound good.
Thank you for sharing your awesome gift with the world. I dig your style and crazy talent.
Beautiful lesson ! Another way to think of it is, when using the technique over the minor chord is that they're notes from the minor pentatonic box 2. This helps me understand the concept a bit better
