The remix of this ruled the clubs for several years and still fills the dancefloor!
Got to see her at SC Pride years ago, that dance mix still fills STREETS!
YAAASSSSS Gotta do the remix wasnt it the Thunderpuss remix that was THE JAM!!!
ruclips.net/video/Fi_eCBEdO5k/видео.html
I didn't even know that was the remix and the original is slow lmao. (I was 7 when this came out but the remix was on Now 5 haha)
Yep club bangers just like who do you love aswell
Such an underrated singer. A powerhouse like that should be a household name.
I agree. I didn't see this post of yours before I posted mine.
Y'all are going to love this because Deborah Cox sangs the hell out of this song! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I see you over there feeling it Jay! Ayeee! 😁
Deborah is probably the best R&B singer to come out of Canada. I recommend checking out some of her other songs like "Who do U Love" and "Beautiful U R"
She was lucky enough to get US recording deal (with Clive Davis), the only other Canadian R & B female I know that got a US recording deal, was Melaine Fiona. But I wouldn't put them ahead of Liberty Silver or Divine Brown.
Her and Tamia.
@@emmettervinI was just about to say that. Them and Melanie Fiona
One of the most underrated artists. She is amazing. Her songs are amazing. Her dance songs and remixes are fantastic. The dance remix of this song will have you out of your seats.
Yes! I love it! They played it in lots of clubs in Cincinnati when I was in college!
100% agreed! I was hoping this was the remix!
@MarieNeu they played the hell out of it in NY, I'd say probably everywhere!
@@Chiari_Queen_T I just commented that. I never heard this slow version. I actually don't like it... I think because I'm so used to the remix.
Deborah Cox is a powerhouse from Canada! Since your dabbling again in the 90s, PLEASE react to En Vogue, TLC and SWV to start with.
Been patiently waiting for En Vogue!
Yes, and Jade
@@MG-px7cc Jade is a good suggestion. Don't Walk Away.
And Blaque, the group that Left-Eye put together.
I love my Canadian sisters no dought. Canadian Grandma Lori.C.
This was the joint back in the 90's....she was definitely an underrated artist along with Sunshine Anderson "Heard It All Before", Blu Cantrell "Hit Em' Up Style", Sparkle "Be Careful" and so on....😉
There's a great dance remix to this also - isn't she amazing? Love her voice.
Is the best!
No cap, the remix is a banger.
Yes! I love "SENTIMENTAL" by Deborah Cox. She is absolutely amazing!
Another group you should listen to for female Friday is a group called “Jade” and the song “Don’t walk away boy”.
Deborah Cox is a beautiful person and amazing singer. Saw her in The Bodyguard Musical which was incredible!💜
This is the good R&B from the '90s, '00s. This one is more on the slower soulful, jazzy & romantic side, also known as Quiet Storm.
R&B had some good stuff during the '70s, '80s, '90s, and '00s.
Deborah Cox other hits during the '90s and '00s were "Who Do U Love?", "Its Over Now", "Beautiful U R:. , etc . Watch/listen to the videos /songs on those.
I love this song, it’s a R&B classic!! Deborah Cox’s voice is amazing!❤❤
Deborah Cox has become one of the most respected performers in the EDM genres of progressive house and trance and is considered a queen in all the the dance capitals across the world . I have seen her perform live both in Ibiza and Tel Aviv . She has been re- mixed by some of the best dj s' in the world .
AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deborah, Kristen W, Amber - Jocelyn Enrique my goodness.
This is great to know. Thanks!
Y'all. Don't sleep on 90s R&B. You've got to check out more En Vogue, plus SWV, Jodeci, Toni Braxton, Brownstone, Aaliyah, Brian McKnight, Johnny Gill, Sounds of Blackness, and more. It was a golden age of R&B.
Yessssssssssssss Deborah Cox is one of my all time favorites . Such a POWERHOUSE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. You should check out all of her songs. Also Vivian Green Emotional Rollercoaster. Jay you were in the zone. Deborah Cox's voice is like a butter you want more and more. Thanks for checking her out. Amber just like you I feel her power deep down in my soul. Absolutely beautiful reaction Guys. Love You keep grinding. 🥰🥰
Vivian Green, Yes!!!
I love this song so much! One of my favorite female R&B voices ever!
I heard she sang this on the first take and the producer said “we got it.”
Love that!!!
I love her too. Powerful voice with great range!
Yes! Was waiting for someone to request this song. Always been my fav from that era. Her vocals are amazing. Love the reaction 🥰
I love this song. I bought the cd back in the day when it first came out.
She has a duet with another singer named R.L called “we can’t be friends “. They both sing their asses off. Love the song and it’s a great video. Her voice is beautiful.
She has 1 of the most gifted voices from god You wanna hear another song with her Any song by Deborah Cox you gonna love but the 1 she does what Whitney Houston Same script different cast Talk about 2 powerhouses
Co-sign…SAME SCRIPT, DIFFERENT CAST definitely should be the next Deborah Cox
There’s a DANCE VERSION! Also check out Sentimental and We Can’t Be Friends with RL of the group N.E.X.T.
Another wonderful R&B Canadian - Tamia
This song is fire!!! I never get tired of hearing it.
Love her voice
Wow!!! I've never heard this before, I think the end of the 90s was about when I started opting out of the modern music, but this woman is pure 🔥🔥🔥!
90s is the best decade of music, grunge, country, rap and r & b were stellar in the 90s
Oh man! The club remix of this song was my JAM!! I recall many a Friday night at the club dancing my heart out to this song. Love me some Deborah.
90's R&B/Soul along New Jack/New Jill is a great era of music. BET video heyday!
You absolutely DID do a song from the 2000's!!! One of the greatest songs ever recorded, "My Immortal" by Evanescence!!! 2004! Coldplay is also 2000's. 3 Doors Down. Audioslave... I know there are more. 😉
Yes, they also loved Linkin Park, "In the End."
Just another smooth jam from that era!!!And yes she brought it home!!!
I like her too... glad you guys liked her performance... thank you ☺️...
Oh wow. I LOVE her!! Now do the Hex Hector dance remix. It was HUGE in the clubs.
Oh and absolutely Shai 'If I ever fall in love' acapella version 😍😍😍
The club mix is amazing too!
When this song was released I myself had 'tried that love thing for the last time' and this song gutted AND comforted me. Debra's breathy believability and emotion kept me on the planet.
This song was Deborah Cox's one and only r&b crossover hit ever. The song peaked at the #2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and stayed at there for 8 weeks in a row back in 1998. But the song did peaked at #1 spot on the Billboard Black Single chart for 4 weeks in a row. A great and powerful song indeed!!!
You guys might also love listening to artists like Vivian Green, Teedra Moses, Amel Larrieux, Lauryn Hill, Faith Evans, Jill Scott, Tamia, Adina Howard, Monifah, Shanice, Tracey Spencer. All of these women were spectacular singers of the 90s, and early 2000s. I'm sure many others agree and will suggest any number of great songs by them to you guys. Have a blessed day you two. :)
Yesss! When he said the 90’s were a hit and miss 😮 I started naming every artists you named. RnB was just in it's prime in the 90s.
She is a great singer ❤
Great reaction! I couldn't agree with you more.
I remember I saw Deborah cox in concert at the Hampton Coliseum in 95'. The concert was called the Jam Fest, it had other artists including Biggie smalls. I remember too that me and my fiance at the time was trying to walk through a crowd of people to get closer to the stage, It was awesome.
Yay, thanks for playing this! I absolutely LOVE this song - one of my all time favorites! The song was written for Patti Labelle but when Deborah Cox sang it for the songwriter and producers they loved it and decided to let her record it. I love Pattie Labelle too but I can't imagine anyone else singing this song.
If you like this you should check out "Superwoman" by Karyn White. It's from 1988 - so, so good! Other women/songs for Female Friday - Bette Midler "Stay with Me" (vintage video edition) and Macy Gray "I Try" or "Still", both from her 1999 album "On How Life Is" (the whole album is excellent really). Berlin, with lead singer, Terrie Nunn, has been around since the 70s and have tons of great music. I think my favorite album is Pleasure Victim with my favorite song being "The Metro". Jennifer Holiday's performance of "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" on the Tony's from 1982 is excellent. I saw this on the original broadcast and I remember having goosebumps. I never forgot it. Still gives me goosebumps and makes me tear up. It's been remade by any number of artists since but to me this will always be the best performance of it.
Deborah is an icon in the "Club Scene" greatly prominent in "the Gay Club scene" Nobody's Suppose to be Here" "Things just aint the same" "Everybody Dance" are all remixed to perfection and was at the top of the Dance Charts for months - Iconic. This was around the time when DJ would take ballads and remix, Toni Braxton, "Unbreak my Heart" Classic Mix, Tamia "Stranger in my House" ALL of Whitney Songs from her "Heart Break Hotel Album, 'Learned From The best" IT aint right but its ok" Great Great Times.
My love is your love album
What a voice! She should be a household name!
She certainly was in the late 90s club scene.
The Dance mix of this song is fire!!
This is the song that made her famous Before this song no one ever heard of Deborah Cox💯
A return to PURE SOUL MUSIC. Classic.
FINALLY, some soul. Thank you for that kids. Please react to Vesta Williams: "Congratulations" That woman has a hell of a voice. I love you're reactions kids and Jay, you crack me up all the time.
they’re adults.
A MUST for any slow jam playlist, so underrated was Ms Deborah Cox! Love this song
The dance remix of this song is amazing
Fired Up, one of my favorite CDs ever, has the remix and I love that so much, that this version sounds wrong to me. It's absolutely gorgeous, but it's not my dance around the house song
Whitney Houston & Deborah Cox - "Same Script, Different Cast" - make it happen! :)
98' I was 15 yrs old and this singer was very popular. Love it!! Blast from the past.
I have been waiting for a reaction to Deborah Cox. Thank you
You couldn't go in a gay club in the 90s without hearing a Deborah Cox mix. She brings the drama that we adore. She is incredible and it's so great to see her get some love.
That control and ..... in and outs.. emotion all the way deep
I read an article that said this song was offered to Beyonce but she turned it down. I can't imagine anyone singing this song but Debra Cox now!
You have to react to Angela Winbush "Angel"
And to take it back even a bit farther Sylvia "Pillow Talk". She created Sugarhill Records (Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious 5). Yep, the very first independent rap label!
Digging the vibes..kinda reminds me of a younger Gladys Knight..pure notes..she nails this song! Thank you squad..
I was in love with this woman. 😍 She started out with lots of midtempo jams but this was a great ballad. Another in this vein: "I Wish," by Heather Headley. 😍
Yes listen to the dance mix and prepare to be blown away!
Such a beautiful song by Deborah saying she's given up on love, but she gets reeled back in.
We Can't Be Friends
Who do U Love
Absolutely Not
Mr. Lonely
This song spent 14 weeks at Number 1 for 19 weeks. She was the first Canadian 🇨🇦 to top the R&B charts. Deborah's beautiful voice is so easy to listen to.
Great reaction. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Yeah. You got to give her credit, she tore that song up. I haven't heard many Deborah Cox songs I don't think. But I definitely remember that one.
There are a lot of Greatest female artists from the 90s
Another great song from around the same time is "Stranger in My House" by Tamia (which also has a bangin' Dance remix!)
Another great Canadian singer!
I forget off the top of my head if you guys have listened to Toni Braxton on the channel, but if not you definitely should! Unbreak My Heart and He Wasn't Man Enough are a couple of my fave Toni Braxton songs.
Love that you're reacting to a song from the late 90s. I absolutely adore Deborah Cox and this song. Now you need to hear the remix, which is probably among my top 5 dance tunes. That version of her song brought everyone out on the dance floor!
Ms. Deborah Cox, thank you for your gorgeous, perfect soundtrack while courting the most incredible woman of my life.
Fresh from combat... I met my Angel, she saved me from myself...
And your voice was there, thank you. 🙏🏻🤟
So sad when I was going through a break up. Deborah Cox is amazing. To underrated. Canadian Grandma Lori.C. And yes Jay I love Brian McKnight too.
Love her, have no idea how she didn’t become huge.
If I recall correctly, she was signed by Drew Dixon and after she was r-ped by Russell Simmons all of her artists she signed were dropped and their careers consequently stalled.
@@mechantechatonneDeborah Cox😮 Deborah was signed by Clive Davis, if you're talking about her
Love this song, it was on one of those compilation CDs I had. Really underrated, her voice is incredible.
One of my all-time favorite songs! Perfect from beginning to end! The instrumentation of her voice & the jazz w/music in the background is amazing too, there are some very cool dance mixes of this song that you should check out😊
The dance version of this started up and the dance floor would be packed!! Def should give it a listen.
Brian McKnight "Back To One" 👏👏👏👏
I think it's "Back At One". McKnight is terrific, as is the a cappella group his brother Claude was in (Take 6). Brian did a nice duet on Paul Simon's Bridge Over Troubled Water with Josh Groban, too.
Canada's own!!! So happy to see Ms. Cox on your channel. Not surprised y'all are in love already, she is amazing! I listen to the dance remix of this song all the time. At one point very early on in her career she was a backup singer for Celine but someone like this had to be destined for more. Please react to her songs "Who Do U Love," "We Can't Be Friends (with RL)," and "Beautiful U R."
Reminiscent of the Motown sound. 😃
Great pick! You should watch the live duet, Deborah Cox and Tamia. During the pandemic they sang it beautifully from their homes.
Such an amazing collaboration!!
There was a show called motown live and if u really want to here what Deborah can do look for that same song on that show .. that lady will blow your mind.
Never heard this one before, but the Backup sounds like a Church Choir! :) Terrific Voice! Would love to hear more You Guys. :)
I never heard a song that have these hidden words of self expression. Love it.
Can't listen just once. More like ten or so times in a row. Just beautiful !!
Ok if you guys are going to get into 90s R&B, I have all the suggestions! This is what we called baby making music back in the day. Definitely puts you in the Valentine's mood❣️ One band to check out....Jodeci. Forever my Lady and the MTv unplugged performance of Lately are a must.
Tons of 90s music to explore. Mosts of the 80s acts were still big in the 90s. Luther, Toni Braxton, Janet, Jody Wallet etc. This was written by Montell Jordan (This is how we do it) another great 90s artist. What about the group Next and Dry Hill? So much left to explore.
Please do more 90's RnB 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Allure ft 112 'All Cried Out', Aaron Hall 'I Miss You' anything by Jodeci, Boyz II Men, H-Town, Joe etc etc sooo many great songs!!!
R&B is not my favourite genre, but she does have a fabulous voice, a real powerhouse. 🎼
She's great and as others have said the dance remix of this goes hard. I saw her in 2012 at my local Pride festival and she was amazing.
From Canada, she began as back-up singer for Celine Dion...
No wonder I never heard of her...
Her song Serious was a club hit! Check it out
She is great. They need to hear more from her.
this song became an overnight classic in both the R&B and dance arenas.
Might I suggest a few artists? Marvin Gaye's Let's get it On, Teddy Pendergrass' Turn off the lights, the Jets Crush on you and Make it Real, the Sylver's Boogie Fever & Hotline, 5 Star's All fall down & Rain or shine, Samantha Mumba's Come on Over & Didn't tell you this tonight, anything sung by Glen Jones (phenomenal voice), Peabo Bryson, Stacy Lattisaw, and SWV's Use your Heart (make sure you react to the actual video which is wonderful. Plus, you can see who the other singer is).
“Love is” by Vanessa Williams and brian McKnight is another another great song to hear.
When i say the dance mix of this song lit up clubs brighter than times square on NYE....man...there wasnt room for a flea on the dance floor!
I just discovered your channel when I was searching for this song. I'm a mid 80s baby so when this song came out I was in my predating years and I felt this song. 2 decades later it still rings true. Deborah Cox also sings the Vocals for a lot of the Whitney Houston movies since Whitney transferred. You all should do the song "Big White Room" by Jessie J. Her vocals floored me the first time I heard that song
Got to see her in live concert, she's even better live🥰
She is our Canadian Rhythm and Blues queen. Please try Stephanie Mills, Floetry, Brownstone, Phyllis Hyman and Lisa Fischer
Don't sleep on Deborah. There's a reason why she's been a part of a few Broadway productions (AIDA)
Jay just my my whole day with that smile!!
You HAVE TO react to "Deborah Cox and RL- We can't be friends!" Hits SO hard.
The dance mix is amazing. It was playing at the discos in the early 2000’s.
This was a big "challenge song" on TikTok with people attempting to sing the breakdown and that high note towards the end. Deborah Cox is so underrated.
I hope you guys go down this R&B rabbit hole! So many great songs and artists 💛
