    There is no doubt that _Dread_ helped respark interest in Metroid. My thoughts is that Nintendo shadow dropped _Prime Remastered_ to test the waters with Metroid fans. Seeing how there was an absolutely overwhelming demand for physical games, it bode well for Nintendo.

    It’s debatable whether Corruption needs to be remastered because it still looks really great on the Wii. If they did rerelease it I think they would have to do more than spruce up graphics and controls.

    I love how you completely ignored the disaster of Other M which was the REAL reason they went dark with Metroid games for over a decade. The strategy to release Prime 2/3 remastered makes sense since they already have the assets of Prime 1 remastered and just need to finish the levels and new monsters of the Prime 2/3. I would advise to NOT RUSH Prime 4...I don't want a crappy Metroid game because fans didnt have patience. Let Retro take their time. Give them 10 years if they need it. A great game is worth more than 100 rushed games.

      I agree with releasing Prime 2, but Prime 3 doesn't use the same controls and has very different and structure due to being in a different console, more detailed textures and is overall a bigger game that also has a lot of motion gimmicks that Prime 1 and 2 didn't have so they only needed the pointer added. While I see them releasing a Prime 2 remaster soonish, with Prime 3 I expect only an HD treatment and updated controls like skyward sword or not even releasing as to not delay Prime 4 until the next console as much as all 4 Prime in the same console would be the ideal scenario

      I don't think remastering Prime 2/3 to the same level as 1 makes sense at all. It requires tons if work and resources. These games are not that popular or good compared to 1. These are not going to sell as well. And they're gonna oversaturate and might create franchise fatigue before 4. I'm absolutely sure they're not going to remaster/remake them (40$ a piece would be freakin crazy considering we had trilogy not long ago) and that's the right choice. Simpler 2+3HD upscaled rerelease with updated controls would be more logical.

    • @thiskneegrow
      @thiskneegrow Год назад

      @@sidewinder2057 They remade all of Prime 1. The foundation and assets could be used to remake Prime 2/3. The other Prime games aren't as good as the first game, but they are both still great games. It's free money for Nintendo. Not to mention how well Prime 1 remastered did, I wouldn't doubt they are already almost finished with the remasters of the other games and waiting for a correct time to release them.

    First off- I cannot believe you did not mention Dread. That shut us up a bit.
    Secondly- Yes, I agree this is their strategy. It makes the most sense, especially since Metroid is so underrated compared to Nintendo’s best sellers (Mario & Zelda). These 3 bit remasters would bring in new fans and set up for Prime 4.

    It's pretty clear Nintendo is aware of the need to "catch people up" on the two separate Metroid storylines prior to the release of Dread and Prime 4. So yes, I think Prime 2 and 3 will be re-released somehow. There are so many ways they could do it, but with the Prime 1 remaster, new players may be underwhelmed if 2 and 3 don't get the same attention. Regardless, I think they're more likely to be released in a touched-up, upscaled digital two-pack. To me, this is what a remaster is in the first place. (In music, a remaster takes the original tracks and tweaks the levels, EQs, FX, etc.; nothing new is recorded. Prime Remastered is something else; like a redux or some such.)
    Whatever they do, I hope the wait isn't too agonizing. I pulled my Wii out of storage because I was jonesing to play Echoes. It looks like mush, having just played Prime Remastered.

    the answer to the title is simple. nintendo is a Japanese company, they're gonna try to appeal to their own people before anyone else. metroid is NOT a popular series in japan so logically nintendo wasn't expecting metroid pri.e remastered to sell at all. that's why there was a delay in shipping cause there wasn't enough physical copies for those that purchased the physical carts. official reviews for the game were submitted to nintendo 18 months prior to the shadow drop of the game. simply put, nintendo didn't expect the game to be this popular in the west or anywhere else

    If Nintendo wants to sell Metroid to new players, then makes zero sense not rework Prime 2 and 3.
    And , come on, the easiest part to it is to adapt the motion controls from MP3 (it literally can be done by a single button press + analog sticks). There's no excuses here.
    So, imho, Prime 2 and 3 are coming in 2023/early 2024 and MP4 will release in the end of Switch's life cycle (or even as crossgen) in 2024.

    My guess is that Metroid Prime remastered was the dev team's training wheel for MP4. They needed to research the first games anyway so why not make it an opportunity to remaster a game or two ? If it sells it will make the overall MP4 development cheaper if it doesn't who cares ? They had the founding anyway for that MP4's preproduction requirement. That + the poor MP2 and 3's sales number explains the lack of a proper communication campaign from Nintendo and the shadow drop, in my opinion.

The remaster of the first Prime is to introduce the series to newcomers not only to sell nostalgia.
