Bro. I am a liveaboard here in Naples. Lets hang. We can take my little Whaler and fight some Tarpon and Snook in the 10,000 Islands. Your videos have been awesome.
As I’m watching your video I too am traveling solo on the boat. It’s not for the faint of heart. Docking, long passages along a narrow twisty icw. It all changes when you are solo. - Great job Gus. Hope to run into one day.
Awesome videos, I'm a retired US Merchant Marine 36 years sailing deep sea, Cowboys use Ropes!! Sailors use Lines! there aint no ropes on a boat! Love the content Gus, god speed brotha!
Way to go not running yourself aground and taking the long way out of there. You're making good decisions on the water. Great video. I like the time lapse of the sunset on your route.
I have the same mechanical knowledge as you, BUT I wish I had your Social ability and positivity! Or maybe its the editing making you look perfect and make me jealous? LOL
It's hard to convey in a video, how nervous you can get going into a sketchy inlet like Naples at night in a boat that really doesn't need to hit the bottom! Enjoyed your video!
I tried to do this trip after a hurricane had passed. It started out calm water and got half way and the hurricane had built a tail of storms behind it. Had to turn around at 5 to 7 foot seas. By the time we got to Naples it was 15 foot swells!!!
The first route you chose you really should know before you try it. I put my contender on a reef. You don’t want that particular repaid bill and tow bill. Good choice captain.
@@barelyafloatwithsteve3975 ... I've been following Gus on his adventure from day one... And you are the first jerk I've run into on his channel... There's always got to be one, and you're it...
Do you consider refinishing the wood trim? I know it is cosmetic but it really pops when it is all redone. You have a great work ethic. I don't think the videos do justice to how much work you put into the projects on the boats.
Great video and speed. I wish my boat was that fast. I can only crank out 5 to 6 knots on my full displacement hull. Yea…I can go forever. (3000 miles) but i would trade some of that for speed in a heartbeat.
Howdy Gus, how'd you feel doing this journey solo. I journeyed from Clearwater Florida to Naples then to Marathon. As beautiful as it was at times we hit rough conditions in shallow water. Was in a 32' Carver Mercruiser. Lol.
Hey Buddy‼️ I don't know what kind of Boating experience you had before buying your Boat (I have none), but I've noticed that you do a lot of Solo Cruising and was wondering what's the largest Boat you think you would feel comfortable Cruising Solo ? I've been looking at Boats in the 45-55 foot range as a full-time liveaboard.
Cummins 12 Valves are some of the best diesel engines ever made. Truly a engine designed to run at load all day long, day after day, and last forever. Keep the oil changed on schedule and use good filters. No Fram filters, ever!

Inlet, not inland. Inlet: (a narrow strip of water that goes from the sea into land). Read the Navionics reviews, it is said to be quite sketchy, however I found it to be easily navigable even in the pitch black.
We always pass up the Naples inlet for the Marco Island inlet. And, the Marco Island inlet is sketchy as hell most months!!! I wouldn't want to run either on in the dark in our four foot draft twin screw boat. Too expensive to hit the bottom!
Love all of your videos and how hard you work on your boats. Honestly looks so cozy inside the boat with the rain pouring outside.
Its always comforting to see a Sea Fearer make it to Port..
Captain Ron
I stumbled upon this old video, its amazing to see how far you've come!

I brought our boat back from Miami to Alabama by myself a few years ago. It was a fun challenge, but you're right, they're are moments!
A pity you couldn't stop in one of the amazing places in the Everglades. But good passage. Scary to enter a new port in the dark!

There are ropes on a boat. They’re called ropes until they’re given a purpose and then they’re called lines, halyards, snubbers etc. Cheers.

45-55 ah hell Gus can do that by drone from his tube being pulled at 40 knots! lol
Depending on the engine/thruster and helm configuration, a 55 is not unrealistic to pilot solo!

a hot man on open water... who could ask for more
Topping off tanks, checking oil levels and other pre-trip duties should be done the day before to assure a quick departure.
On a trip, the ER will be hot so better in the AM.
May 15th???
That's when I filmed this! Catching up on editing now.
