YES!!! Swarms season is here, and I'm ready for some action. In fact, I'm so ready for action that I will even travel a long distance just on the chance they will still be there when I show up. Fortunately, on this removal they did stick around....for 3 days. Granted, that is a long time for a swarm of bees to stay on a spot, but I guess they really wanted to become Abbee Honey bees.
The removal itself took less than 5 minutes, but setting up and tearing down my bee vac took almost 15 minutes, and the drive to New Orleans and back took over 2 hours. So, was 2 hours and 20 minutes of work worth getting some free bees? For me, most assuredly. Plus, I was able to meet another person who truly cares about bees and their welfare. All in all, a great day, and now these bees happily call the abbey home. - Животные
I love seeing a home owner who cares about the bees even though they are unwanted in or around their homes. Bees are one of my favorite bugs. I love them and it is nice to see other people that care enough to get ahold of someone who will take them and care for them.
Kim get a big thumbs up for reaching out to me to rescue these bees, she really does care for them. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
That moment you get sucked up into a furnished apartment.
If we could all bee so lucky! Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed got a haircut. He's not messing around!
Not one hair was missed. Thanks for noticing and for watching. God's peace Jason.
Mr. Ed
Nice that the lady recorded some of the removal to show her kids, they need to learn about honeybees and how important they are, to our ecology. Thanks for sharing this with us, Mr Ed.💕😊👍
The homeowner has a sincere desire for the protection of bees and she is passing that concern on to her children.....good for her and the bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
You made me decide to start trapping Last year, you answered my question about wax moths infesting my frames in my trap hives, too early in the year you said, well I got two last year, and got two in one day, yesterday and today they was another swarm in a tree wanting to get in a trap hive but they were a day late, tried to get another box ready but they left. All this within 200 yards of my cabin . Got two more boxes set up couple miles down the road. I'm kicking their buts ,rounding them up like a cattle drive. I feel blessed and kinda special lol. Thanks.
Always love hearing about successful trapping, keep up your efforts. God's peace Donald.
Mr. Ed
I noticed today I'm missing the way your Mom used to say, "let's wrangle!" When you said it in this video, I heard the echo of her in your voice and saw her smile in yours. There's a lot of her in you. A lot. WOW was a real treasure. I hope you and your family are doing ok. May God's peace in your hearts.
Thank you so much for thinking about and mentioning WOW, I really appreciate when others speak lovingly about her. As you can imagine, we all miss her tremendously, but are greatly comforted knowing she is where she really wanted to be. I'll always hear her voice in the back of my head saying, " now let's wrestle!' God's peace Carole.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff LOL I know, my gosh she was such a character! When we lost Dad we knew he was out of his suffering and in a better place...and that made us happy for him. But man the heartache. I miss him so much, I can't believe he's been gone for 8 years now. It's hard not being able to talk to him, but like you I have the best memories. Anyway, I really enjoyed her and appreciated learning so much more about her in your memorial video. What a great lady.
I like how the home owners said come save the bees not come and save us from the bees .
I hope that the home owner applied some calming and a fresh layer of pain in that area as it looked like there was some rot going to happen soon close to the deck of the porch. Thank you for relocating these bee’s . God Bless you as well Mr Ed .
Kimberly has a great respect for bees and teaches that to her children as well. I'm sure I'll bee back next year to remove a swarm from their house, there are lots of bees around her. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. Until the next one, God's peace Charlene.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff It is good there are people like you JP and a few others who save these bees . Glad the homeowner is also a person who cares about nature and will call you back if and when the bees arrive again . God Bless Mr Ed .
Great service that you are providing....fan of you sir 🙏🥰👌.... really happy to see your video...
It is always a pleasure for me to read comments like yours. Thank you for your kind words and for watching. Until the next one, God's peace.

Thanks my friend....Mr Ed....Jeff......!
You are very welcome, God's peace Steve.
Mr. Ed
Cool time-lapse. Slurped em right up! Looks like they are going to stay put.
You just got to love the bee vac, it makes wrangling soooo easy. These girls already hung out the "home sweet home" sign. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Even though it was a very easy removal you still have the ability to make it interesting. 😀
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to watch the video. Until the next one, God's peace.

Nice to see you Mr Ed again. May God bless you..amin
And great to hear from you Mohammed. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace.

Thanks Jeff.... love your videos... hope to be making some good 2021 Bee videos this year
You are vey welcome, and best wishes for your successes in 2021! Thanks for watching. God's peace.

Whoa.. amazing swarm season busy catching 👍👍
Yes indeed! I do love catching swarms! Thanks for watching. God's peace Akato.
Mr. Ed
Thankful for bee vacs. Made that job look way easy. Thanks for the video. God bless.
I do love my bee sacs, they make my bee wrangling so much more enjoyable. Glad to hear all is well with the Missus, thanks for your blessing and for watching. God's peace Gary.
Mr. Ed
Hello Jeff, thank you for sharing your vlog with us, such a nice easy capture made easy with your cool bee vac, I hope they make a great colony for you at your beutiful abbey apiary, godbless Jeff my friend.
These are some really nice bees, very gentle, and lots of them. I actually think I will get honey from these girls this year, we shall see. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Mark.
Mr. Ed
Jeff I think that bee vac is much better than the yellow barrel and it is much easier on the bees ,thanks for your time and videos. I know this time of the year is a very busy time for bee keepers .
I prefer my bee vac and use it all the time, but the yellow vac comes with me every time because it has it's uses. You are correct, it is a VERY busy time of year with swarms and splits. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Bee named Frank: " HEY! .... Where is George go?...he was just here a second ago.... "
The good news is that both Frank and George are once again back together as well as every one of those bees, they were all taken and relocated to a new spot. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 9 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff I have watched MANY of your videos and love the work you do for the bees and your enthusiasm.
Good job for both of you. God bless you Jeff and your work.
I do love the easy removals when they come my way, I just wish more would. Thank you for your blessings and for watching JJ. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
To the home owner, since this is an annual thing, perhaps get a hive ~2 weeks before you expect a swarm to come by, set it up next to that column, entrance facing out and have them move right into a hive.
Then call Jeff to simply come pick them up, maybe even do a hive swap, an empty hive for a populated hive. Rinse repeat as needed.
You could even leave the hive there, the bees probably wont bother you if you are not bothering them, but get professional advice if you did do that.
We may be doing just that, I have another person a mile away that I do the exact thing for. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Looking forward too the up coming wrangling season. 👍
It's going to bee a lot of fun, let the good time begin! Thanks for watching. God's peace Stanley.

Love the sound of bees all working as one, all in harmony.
It's one of my most favorite sounds, real music to my ears. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

Thank you John, and thank you for watching as well. God's peace.

Jefff am in love with this work.
It always reminds me, my family's bee farm.
So glad to hear it reminds you of something you like, that way you will keep watching. Thank you for doing that and leaving your comment. God's peace.

to bad that there not all that easy to capture worked awesome this time and there already settled in there new home thumb's up shared great job Jeff
Always love the easy ones, I just wish they would show up with a bit more frequency. Thanks for all you do for me Drew, God's peace brother.

Hello Jeff. Thank you for uploading. That was a grand wrangle. Those ladies will make themselves right at home. God bless you and see you soon.
Nothing beats free bees, especially free bees that are easy to get. These girls are going to do great at the abbey! Thank you for your blessings and for watching. Until next week, God's peace Elaine.

Just the way I like them. I wish there were more like this though. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

looks like you got a new spot to set a swarm trap every year !
My very thought. I have already spoken to the homeowner about it. Thanks for watching. God's peace Jack.
Mr. Ed
I love the music when you were showing us the queen! Good job.
I always like hearing when folks like the music as well as the video. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
You make your mom proud blessings to you today and your bees.
I know she's looking down on me right now. Thanks for remembering her Rick, and for taking the time to watch the video. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
I am glad to hear that there are people who still care about bees and who will drive so far to keep them in the environment! Now is I could only find someone who loves hornets as much, to remove them from my yard.
I meet lots and lots of great folks who have tremendous respect for bees and what they do for us and therefore do what they can to help. On the other hand, I have yet to meet someone who has the same attitude in regards to wasps and hornets.....and I'm in that number as well. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Got bees and a new subscriber. It was a productive day.
Every day is a great day for wrangling bees, when are we going to do another one together, the public demands it. God's peace brother.

Hi Jeff, I saw your vid pop up and I said to myself, "What day is it today??!" Booo. I love watching swarm season. Hope all is well there.
Swarm season is my favorite time of the year. The only thing I don't like about it is working so hard to prevent our bees from swarming by making splits. All is well here, and I hope that goes the same for you. God's peace Jeremy.
Mr. Ed
You’re the cutest! God bless Mr. ED
Hi Mr Ed 😊 hope you're keeping well. Thanks for another great video!! Strange that the bees preferred the porch, rather than the big tree that was beside it 🤔 at least you got them all - and the queen 👑🐝 best wishes as always ☘️🇮🇪💙
All is well in Louisiana, and I hope all is well in Ireland. The bees were attracted to the smell of previous bees at that location from last year. That's right, even though that much time passed, the smell lingers on and attracts future swarms. That is why year after year bees keep returning to this location. Thank you for your kindness and for watching. Until the next time, God's peace Adwina.
Mr. Ed
Hello Jeff! They sure will move that honey.😀 Be blessed brother!
It's always cool to actually see them move the honey instead of just knowing they do. Great to hear from you Dan, I hope all is well. God's peace brother.

I give about a 6-7 lb swarm a big fat frame of honey last year and they moved it over one frame all in one night and it was huge, like 3 inches thick ,they moved it from 10 position to 9 I guess for insulation? And then brooded big time shortly after, great catch Jeff!!
It's just so cool how the bees move things in the hive and they do it so quickly. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

You should change the title to "Sucking Up a Swarm of Bees. Satisfying!"
Hey Jeff, what if your vac box, had the hose on top instead of bottom ? Do they prefer entering from the bottom ? I thought it would be easier to change the top instead of both. Thx, keep up the great videos.
It matters not where the hose enters the vac, the bees will wind up on the frames regardless. I know lots of folks that have the hose at the top of their bee vac. Thanks for watching. God's peace David.

The 'bee vac'. cool. Would like to be doing beekeeping enough one day to have a bee vac in my toolbox. I started on the bee trail this winter. Just doing wood working right now for frames and boxes. I live in BC, Canada, spring is still on the verge of breaking. If anyone can give feedback, I have a question... The first warm days in my area came early and as a surprise there were a few bees exploring my area right away. Stirred from their slumber I guess. Specifically some fuzzier ones with pollen on their legs at first, then bare sleeker ones who seemed to be scouts later. They seemed very curious but docile, flying around my porch, landing on me, nothing went unexplored. A few just perished on the ground. But there was no food available, still very cold at night and now weeks later we are still waiting for the first blossoms of spring. But the bees are gone. Not a trace. Now I'm starting to wonder. Were those early bees hungry? Is it possible they were warmed up too early and had no food stores to support their increased activity? Haven't seen a single one for days and days.
Bandon, I highly recommend you check out Scott Hendriks's channel on RUclips. He is a great Canadian beekeeper and know his stuff about keeping bees in your area. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Hey Jeff have you ever thought of placing a swam trap next to that column around the first of March and have the homeowner call you when a swarm shows up
I'm one step ahead of you, we have already talked about doing that for next year. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
So normally we hear about 'these bees were told to me about 6 months ago but i've been so busy'.. then along comes a young attractive lady and the next day along charges our gallant hero complete with haircut and beard trim!! If we didn't know you better....
Ps I never see the queen in the freezeframes - got any luminous marker?.
Is that you one-nil up?
Great way to start the day as the weather here is awful and I shall not be going out into the garden (yard)
I tried to put a circle around the queen in the clips, but due to my lack of computer and editing skills was unable to do so. I mostly wanted to show her off for the benefit of the Dirt Rooster to show him what a queen bee looks like. I know for a face he could not see her either. I hope the weather clears soon so you are able to get into the garden. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.

Mr. Ed, great video, love watching. Where do you get your hose for the bee vac? I'm having trouble finding one that won't hurt the bees. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed the video Kenny, thanks for watching. I got the hose from HomeDepot, a standard shop vac hose. You may have more of an issue with to much vacuum, you may want to look into that issue as well. God's peace brother.

@@JeffHorchoff Thanks for answering my question, I built my own bee vac and I put a dimmer switch on it so I can turn it down just enough to draw the bees in without hurting them, but i'm looking for a hose that is a little better. God bless, have a blessed weekend.
Jeff, the frame of brood comb that you showed in the bee vac -- was that capped and unhatched? What will the new bees do with that? I'll keep on watching!
It was not brood, it was pollen, and they will use it. Thanks for watching and asking, God's peace Judi.

Likely there is a wild colony of bees somewhere nearby, and they swarm once a year.
Probably more than one colony around this neighborhood, lots of places for feral bees to live. Thanks for watching. God's peace Anthony.

QUESTION: what kind of agreement do you make with property owners about removals? As far as property responsibilities? Cut outs and liability?
I explain that I am not responsible for any damage the bees do or me to remove them, that's on the homeowner. So far, there has never been an issue with that. However, I do carry a 1 million dollar liability policy. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

@@JeffHorchoff thank you for your great videos!!!
Hey Ed I got a question. I saw some of your hive trap videos and how you built the frames to support the deep boxes, but you never gave any information on what size the pieces were or lengths you cut them to. I'm trying to build about 8 of them to put on trees at some of my friends house's this spring. I would appreciate it if you could get back soon so I can finish them and get them put up before the main swarm season hits up here in North Texas. Thanks!
Hayden, as far as the build of a stand that supports the weight of a 10 frame hive body goes, I do not have any measurements to give you. I can however give you a link to the video showing how Ralph and I cut the pieces and put them together. Maybe this can give you some assistance in building yours. I wish you all the best on catching swarms this season. Let me know how you do. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
ruclips.net/video/KUBYS3jWQQo/видео.html
@@JeffHorchoff Appreciate it Mr Ed! I actually watched that video and thats the video I'm trying to copy the build to make my bee traps. I think I can build it. I guess my down to the point question was whats the dimensions of one of those 10 frame bee boxes (I.E. width and length.) Cause I started out doing oddly enough 8 frame boxes instead of 5 or 10. I'm wanting to upgrade to the 10 frames with all my future projects. So if you by chance happen to know both the width and length of a 10 frame box then I should be able to make one to fit exactly their dimensions, because I'm a wood crafter also so I'm pretty handy with a tape measure 😂. Your channel was the first one I found that got me into bee keeping to help out my father with his all organic/no chem plant base/grass-fed ranch. I'm planning to hopefully come check out your abbey sometime if that's ok. Your passion to keep your whole operation organic and showing it could benefit everything was what got me going into it. Its great to have guys like you around.
Thanks for sharing 11-11-2021👍🏽👍🏽❤️❤️

It's already been done, here's the link for it. Thanks for watching. God's peace Linda. Mr. Ed
