I think the hardest part on this removal was getting to the bees, and to do it, it was necessary to split a log in half, long ways, in order to expose them. However, with a bit of help from Julio, we got the log split, removed the bees, and then relocated them. All in all, a great adventure. God's peace to all.

After seeing a few of your videos I became fascinated and subscribed to your channel. Now I never just take bees ( or honey for that matter) for granted. They are truly amazing little creatures. Thank you

I've got 5 natural log hives set up on my farm, with honeybees in them. I enjoy watching and providing them a natural cavity to live in. I get honey occasionally but really just enjoy their presence for pollination. I enjoy catching the swarms and giving them away or put them in another log. Thanks for posting another Friday video!
I have never gotten any my log hives to live for more than 3 years. Usually they die out over the winter and I suspect they starve. God's peace Billy.

Mr Ed, I think that the original colony may have absconded and a swarm moved in after the tree was taken down and that’s why there’s no stores. I operated heavy equipment in my younger years and had to take several bee trees down for roads or buildings. Once the tree is on the ground within a day or two the bees would abscond and then I would take a chainsaw to it and harvest the honey. I didn’t know back then that I should have been saving the bees!
I bet your right.
I think your scenario is very probable, but whatever the case, the bees are being taken care of now. God's peace Don.

Having a variable-speed motor in a bee-vac machine is ideal. It is gentle to the bees, it is much quieter in operation. In addition to this, I believe that with a slower motor speed and gentle suction, that the battery will not discharge so quickly - you do not need to worry that the battery will be discharged before the bees have all been collected.
That's some precision cutting. It's almost like Schawee was there telling you where to cut.
He was in the back ground directing, he did not want any of the credit. Oh yea, he saw the queen as soon as the log was split hiding behind the 4th section of comb, and he coached me on that too. God's peace brother.

We got our Everything Bee Vac in the spring. Worked great.... But, we had an issue with the charging system. We contacted the company, sent what they told us back. Within a week and a half, we had it back. They honored the 1yr warranty without issue or fuss and the only cost we had was shipping to Texas from Alabama. If you're looking for a great bee vac y'all go check them out.
Thanks for the comment on their customer service! I figured they were a great company from seeing comments from Randy at 628 Dirt Rooster about improvements he had mentioned to them that could be done and that's what they have on them now it seems.
@@tommychew6544 you're welcome. That's who we talked with about getting a bee vac, was Randy @628 Dirt Rooster. He's been good to us! He recommended a few different bee vacs and left the choice to us.

the bees who have been here for millions of years know what they want are doing fine, now man has stepped in to do what is "best for them", their good life is over as they knew it.
There are many philosophies on keeping bees, and "ownership" is one of them. However, I prefer the term "steward," and regard my role as one of assisting the bees to prosper on their terms and not force my idea of how bees should behave upon them, which is why I do not treat our bees. Given that, why then did I remove the bees from their natural habitat and install them in a conventional bee hive? Had these bees not bee relocated, they would have starved and died over the winter because there were not sufficient stores of pollen or honey in the hive for them to make it. Now, they are in a bee box being fed, and their likelihood of survival is greatly increased. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed

@@RICDirector Crawlers are a pain - we like to start before dusk and finish at dark - getting all the flyers and avoid the robbing. We do have a red light for night work.
Bees are much, MUCH more aggressive at night or in a shaded hive. And you NEED light to see what you're doing.

@@JeffHorchoff LOL!
I have seen cone that dark brown before, but I don't think those are the original bees that produced it. I'd make a log hive out of it.
❤
What happens to the hive bees that get left behind? And do the robber bees join the colony or is their inherent job to remain a robber?
The bees that are left behind will eventually find another hive to call home, all they have to do is bring in some honey and they will be welcomed. As long as not to many robber bees are vacuumed, they will join the new hive. Bees are VERY social. God's peace Melanie.

I learned that the colder they are the more they consume ( from you, dirt rooster and a few other) any a hive is only 3/4 thick the log looks to be about 2 to 3 inches thick the colder they are I'm taught is the more they consume
You should have taken that tree, screwed it back together and used it as a swarm trap.
I tried to, but my screws were to short and the tree would not stay together. That would have been a really heavy trap. God's peace brother.
