Both are classic premium enterprise rentals sadly. Even the top spec ones. Have a few nice ones at beckton enterprise.
Your performance numbers are just wrong. I had the mk7.5 GTI with the exact same engine as this mk8 GTI. It was quick, but my new BMW 128ti feels distinctly stronger. And, the BMW is quicker on paper. You just didn't check the fine detail, did you?

Bmw actually dose 0-60 in 5.8 secs. If you time it with a dragy. Possibly quicker as carwow suggested.
@@jay-gp5ru Matt did the test on wet roads, so potentially quicker with dry grip. I'm re-watching these vids as I've just ordered the 128ti :D

I have a gti mark 8 and I love it , everyone goes on about no buttons but don’t agree , set it up the way you to drive then leave it alone , car handles really well and is simply a great drive .
I tend to agree on the whole. I've owned a Mk8 GTI for 2 years now and I don't actually think the infotainment system is as bad as people make out. It can be a bit slow at times but overall the usability isn't that bad. I did however test drive a 1 Series only a few days ago and the interior is SO much better vs the GTI, like a complete different level imo. Actually shocked me quite a bit, I got back into my GTI and dare I say, it felt quite cheap in comparison.

The 128ti seems really cool but alas is not available in the states. Maybe someday?

Sorry but regardless of what transmission the Golf GTI has the 128ti is quicker. Misleading facts check every other review.
Numbers done by other people on different days with different drivers are irrelevant. The only numbers we can quote fairly are those from the manufacturer. It’s not misleading. And 0.1 seconds difference according to those numbers means that the Golf gets more from less power. Those are facts, nothing misleading.

Don't assume you will get Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres if you chose the no-cost performance tyre option. I chose it, and got Pirelli P Zeros :-( I enquired about this with BMW online and with my dealership. The online team, said, yes, you get Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres :-) Why then, I asked, did my car have Pirellis? Silence. My dealer dug deeper with BMW UK and confirmed that the performance tyre option can end up with a number of performance tyres, not exclusively Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. Hence the option the configurator simply saying "Performance tyres" and not Michelin's specifically. So, beware. Regardless, the Pirellis are still better than the standard Bridgestones in my opinion. Oh, and the car is bloody fantastic!
Just ordered mine and was told this up front. However, the spec list/order sheet I’ve been given doesn’t say if the no-cost optional extra has been added as it cuts the text of… fingers crossed it comes with something performance though!
@@AlpineGABE check with your dealer. They will be able to see the option code on their system. That's how my dealer confirmed that I did have the performance tyres, just didn't end up with Michelins sadly.
@@johnfranklin6394 fab. I’ve got code 1N4 for my wheels if that rings a bell for you?😂 Pielli’s are still a great tyre but I’ve had Michellin’s on previous 330d’s and they are a excellent. Fingers crossed for anything but continentals
Hi John, what was your order to delivery time on your ti, I ordered in June expecting Mid September delivery and still haven’t had a build slot 😢
@@jackbambridge1242 I ordered on Jan 20th and got a build slot confirmed on Jan 28th. I requested an end of June delivery to coincide with the end of my previous lease. The car was actually at the dealership on May 19th, but I didn’t want to pay for two cars at the same time for over a month. Sounds like I did well. I hope you get yours soon.
Cheapest quality in Golf, expecially inside
I have the Golf 8 R Line as a company car and the build quality and tech is terrible. My wife on the other hand has just ordered a M135i and the build quality and tech is far supreme. All imo.

Yup there’s no Golf in GTi anymore. BMW looks way better and I don’t really trust VW numbers anyway, it’d eat Ti dust I reckon.

Love my bike but that MK8 front dash and infotainment is absolutely terrible. I can’t believe how cheap and nasty it looks. Those touch buttons are awful. The Golf fog lights can’t be used with having the night time head lights on which is plain dumb. Touch steering wheel buttons are idiotic no matter which car. The BMW interior simply kills the Golf.
Both great cars, But a Beamer is always better than VW.
Its old people review 😃 complaints about touch screen..Its pretty easy to find the traction control off..

Poor review. BMW always undersell their performance figures. Other reviews have ACTUALLY reviewed their respective performance and the BMW easily takes it.

@@BOTBreviews yes that’s right, I’ve been looking around and can’t find anything, I even test drove a Cayman and didn’t like it, seats, seating position and other issues.
