so did the fact that it had less space inside than cars from a class below, most people need their hot hatches to be practical and do everything which is why they traditionally are fwd.. i don't like it either, but honestly, the previous generation was awful dynamically. the fact that it was rwd meant nothing on its own, it was very heavy and rolled like a pig, even the sporty versions. it did allow for some amazing tuning, though, which i love. in reality, if you're not the guy who would drift around the roundabouts, you probably don't need a rwd hot hatch :)

Hi, I have a 128Ti. In fact, the difference in the speedometer was considerable (I remember 140 Km / h => 133 Km / h GPS) but after the software update the speedometer is VERY PRECISE! The difference is CONSTANT 😳 + 1Km / h at all speeds (GPS, I measured up to 150 Km / h). Hope to test it on the autobahn!
I'm not sure,but i think that they're really recycling all in all the mini jcw but just changing the design,considering that it's fwd and that the 6 cyl got replaced by the 4 cyl...

They could have kept the longitudinal engine mouting position, simply put this four banger in the RWD layout. It would have been a nice alternative to the Golfs in the market and it would have still met the lower pricetag, emissions, maintenance and consumption compared to the 6 cyl. But they just made a less capable Golf R. The market is kind of saturated with AWD 4 cyl hatches. This would have been a literal modern remake of the 318ti and would have been awesome. The proposition of your typical modern 2.0t hatch with RWD dynamics. It would have been a massive win win.
Had mine delivered on Tuesday. Comes with Bridgestone Turanza T005 tyres. Mines a lease so didn't get a chance to spec the performance tyres. I'm very happy with the car though and I like the red accents, gives the car its own identity and a little bit of character. Not sure why the performance tyres aren't installed as standard and is a no cost option. Doesn't make sense when BMW are usually so sensible.
How is your experience so far with the default tyres? I've just ordered my 128ti on Thursday and I didn't choose the sport tyres because of the cost they add and also the salesman didn't recommended them, he said that they are more slippery on wet conditions. If you have any info on that, that would be also nice.
@Sercan I'm not sure where you are but in the UK they are a non cost option. I'm finding them absolutely fine. Once they wear out and you need to Replace them, then you can put them on. The turanzas are fine in wet and dry. Have t had any issues so far and they actually come out really well in reviews. I'm happy

I have mine for two month. The best (or the only) premium hot hatch. The offers in Switzerland are very good, i.e. I paid less than for the competitors (VW, Renault, Hyundai). I dont drive more than 140km/h in Switzerland so i don't care about the top speed. Even on a race track you won't reach a lot more than 200km/h. It drives really good, I don't need more. For the race track, I rent a GT3.
I think this is one of the most beautiful BMWs ever. (Regarding front) Edit: IMO much nicer than a golf comparable to an average Audi (nicest looking cars in my taste)
I suspect it‘s really limited to 238. Had a 123d and later an 125d. Both did 250 kph speedo but they were both limited to 238 kph GPS. No matter which tyres they were on.
Cupras still have small grill and they are the best looking vechiles in the world rn (new), only rivalled by DS imo. Its design team is such *a legend.
You keep teasing videos around everything BUT the Clubsport mk8. Also, have someone who knows how to set up the hot buttons for a VW Golf and show you the shortcuts before you review it. I'm still curious what you'd think of it.

There’s a lot more car in the new 1 series than the previous model , you can actually compare it to its competitors such as the golf , a class , A3 in terms of size. Rear looks super aggressive and the front actually match’s the hatchback design. However , the grills on the new 3 and 4 series looks absolute horrible.
When I get money, this sounds stupid af but I wanna kit out my Chevrolet Sonic LS with a performance air filter, performance exhaust, and a tune. Right now the fastest I've been able to get up to stock is 212 km/h on the 1.8L 4 cylinder
As an M140i owner, I really cannot grow to like the new 1 series. It's just a MINI in a slightly boring new dress, and it doesn't inspire me to own one, not even slightly. Can't see me selling my M140i anytime, unless I can afford an m2C. So, I'll just keep tuning my M140i fk it :-))
MINI's are the most fun FWD cars, don't insult MINI. But this whale is 1400kg and FWD and is ugly af. A real BMW is supposed to be RWD and have a longitudinal engine. This FWD BMW looks ugly because its FWD with a transverse engine and a short bonnet/hood. I prefer the old 1 series.

I dont doubt that its a good and fun to drive car (considering the reviews, in Greece its not a well known car so i haven't driven it), but it doesn't accelerate as fast as its specs promise. I suppose its limited by the ECU and you can "unlock the beast" by a reflash or an update. Why did they do that from the factory? Co2 emissions maybe idk? 🤔 Btw TI budges are beautiful but the chromium grille is like you are in 2000's 😅
The only thing you hear is the sound of a crying catalyst combined to a soundgenerator, like all other cars have on this years. BMW also made it to a full golf with a better gear box, cut down the rwd and made some stickers on it to look something special at least. Those are very dark times in the automobil history....

I think I must be the only person who thinks the shadowline gloss black grille looks hideous, unless it is on a dark colour, esp black cars. I don't particularly like the silver, but Celium works well esp on lighter colours, though not sure about white. I just think the gloss black looks like some cheap aftermarket thing some boy racer would stick on their car to make it look more shit than the manufacturer made.
You're not the only one as i too find that with the black grille - often looks wrong on white but fine on red & such. Sometimes the chrome surround with black slats work as i find it goes with the headlights and silver wheels. But in any case i thought the ti only came with a black grille, or is that just for UK spec?

The red details kinda gives me a BMW 2002 Ti vibes, it only lacks the "turbo" written backwards and the black grille.

Put some 19" wheels on there with the right aspect ratio tyres, to correct the speedo, and it'll do its top speed, and will look better on 19's.
