Started podcast ot new promos channels of past Seasons esp S8...I dont bother watching any HM or ET promo abt them, or following it...delete or not interested...am watching Heartland's S 14 now on demand channel. I still can’t believe they threw out the beautiful complex deep meaningful relationship that could’ve been. I understand that maybe in season 6 they wanted to see how things would play out but after that they should’ve known to be able to give the actors proper direction. Elizabeth’s demeanour, manor and expressions do not show any indication of looking for Jack in Nathan.

I love these scenes and the many others that repeatedly show the deep and loving connection between Nathan and Elizabeth. We saw it physically and emotionally DESPITE the fact that the writers never once gave his character a chance to show his romantic side. It was always there, in the storytelling and we could all feel it. The decision to choose Lucas is honestly the most unexplainable. choice I've ever seen in a show or read in a story. Everything they did leading up to the finale built the story of Nathan and Elizabeth and their children and yet - they went off the rails in an epic FAIL! There is NO explanation that will ever satisfy me as to why they did this.

This is also true instead of conquering your fears and fighting for love they said give in take the easier path all for money and ratings. They said Lucas would make a far more interesting story lines and keep the show going but I think the opposite. Honor true love courage will always win out! The story of a blended family would have been so sweet! Seeing Nathan’s romantic side ! The decision has left a bitter taste in our mouths and I do not think WCTH can recover from it.

So would have been a fresh story, one that could have had many remarkable experiences / stories to tell. (If they had an imagination) IMO watching them try to transform Lucas into more of a family man...who Nathan is already will be boring and not believable. He handled saloon owner/ business man well, but the few scenes they have shown with him in a more casual setting makes him look out of place totally. Besides not wanting to watch Elizabeth and Lucas relationship grow going forward,. I don't want to see Nathan become buddies with Lucas. As poorly as he was treated by both of them (including Allie) this just doesn't make sense. Plus they would be giving us another false narrative that they don't repeat storylines. It would be like creating Rosemary's and Elizabeth's friendship all over again. Only in this case, not only was Nathan treated deplorable but brought Allie into the drama as well.
In my mind, the series ended at the season 7 finale when Elizabeth ran to and hugged Nathan 🤷🏽♀️. They got together and were happy. They raised LJ, Allie, and had another kid or 2 together. Nathan was a mountie for some time but retired early to do something else, partly because he didn't want Elizabeth to worry anymore but also because it felt right and he wanted to try something else.

No reason for them to change it back to what 70% of Nathan fans coz, as BB said and casts too, people will forget by the time next S 9 comes in 2022. Just like what happened after the backlash when Jack was killed off after S 5..(fans said they will stop but the S 6 and 7 came and they as per ratings, bec they led us to believe that Mountie will prevail ).that time, they have no recourse, Daniel Lissing wanted to leave and didn't renew his contract. With that history, true WCTH fans really invested in HV orig Mountie n Teacher storyline returned... Now, this ? How did they conjure the idea of going another direction away from orig when majority of HEARTIES LOVED the Orig Hero & Heroine??? is beyond me, boggles my mind!! Its Why they were # one in ratings !! Coz of Nathan, tge hero noble profession, not because of Lucas, Saloon- Gambler theme!! Writers or TBTB thought they can fool or manipulate pple?? We're not insensitive and unprincipled pple! We as viewers have a say!! In our feels and opinions! not just because this is fiction..A good wholsome.story and inspiring ones teaches all of us, young or old, a lesson and aspire to be better ourselves, as people in a world like ours the show was role model for selfless and compassion for community thru lead roles...with so much happening/challenges in the world, S 8 and the episodes was not feel good show at all this yr! added negativities galore and to our angst and UPHEAVALS - distrust among viewers and critics towards TPTB! I was shocked! I felt sorry for the Lucas fans bc I just knew it was going to be Nathan. I was so disappointed. I don’t watch a lot of tv but I started thinking about it and I don’t know of any shows that have set up a love triangle like this. Maybe a girl likes a guy that the audience knows is bad and eventually she discovers it and goes for the good guy, but there are never two good guys and she eventually picks one. I assume most shows don’t do this bc it disappoints roughly half of the audience! Good thing they dragged it out and got their ratings bc I don’t think they will have the good ratings going forward.
Kim, I agree. Just from a business standpoint, shows always rough up the loser a bit so that his or her fans can at least see why they weren’t chosen. In my opinion, they made Nathan the most admirable character in the show and then crushed him. It’s just another baffling decision by this group. It seems like they were making it up as they went along and didn’t really plan anything out. I think they will pay a heavy price for it in the long run.

Agree too. The first showrunner that introduced the characters actually said this was the goal: to not have a classic triangle where someone is the bad guy. I assume he had somewhat of a vision that it would end with one of them stepping back or moving on to another love interest. I don't think his vision was to open up the Jack wound again. Brian Bird says it added depth to the show: I say it was a last resort for some drama. If you remember back when S5 ended and Jack died after Elizabeth grieved Erin Krakow said that they would move on now - they would talk about Jack but they would no longer grieve him. That was supposed to be over. One might argue that the hug was the start of the Jack comparison - but that is also not the case because the old showrunner says he doesn't write beyond one season. Meaning that was actually an open ending with different possible ways of moving forward. I wouldn't have minded if they further explored Elizabeth's trauma around Nathan getting shot/JAcks death...but to be fair they should've explored the theme with Lucas also- after all he is a love interest too and for example could've been injured in the oil explosion. I do not think that the Mountie uniform makes a difference there. Everything simply points to a poorly thought out story and an even poorer execution of story. The way to end the triangle would've been by making Lucas into a real, "get his hands dirty" type of hero and have someone else come in for Nathan IN Season 8...they did just the opposite, made Nathan the hero had no happy ending, no character development for Elizabeth or Lucas who are now supposed to be the main love relationship...and they expect fans to continue tuning in. This show has left such a trauma that not only do I not want to tune in, I am actually afraid of watching an episode without knowing how the season will end because I don't trust in John Tinkers abilities to run this show. I trust in my own judgement more: which tells me to not watch Season 9.

Allie her disappointment abt Elizabeth refusing her invite? ...the Coulters, the Canfields role as spiritual counselors why E never even incl. their advise or counsel when she was acting lost and confused instead of lashing out at her friend, R and N as well as indifferent to Allie feelings who was close to her in S 6 n 7??...that need to be explained to viewers. No wonder fans are hurt, and devastated! E became all abt poor conflicted self, her happiness not even considering LJ future role model by choosing L for dad,/ and became less on being teacher role model or mother.to LJ..
@@emydel679 I’m glad you brought up Henry’s son. It was definitely underhanded for Lucas to bring him to town to watch Henry, but I thought it was even more ridiculous than underhanded. Even if he is mad at his dad, it seems far fetched for Lucas to assume he would betray his father and help him. Also, they tried to portray Lucas as almost the perfect guy this season and this was one of the few times they tried to tarnish his image a little bit. When Henry’s son confronted him on the street, Lucas overreacted and ran to his office to have a drink and then the writers punished Lucas by having Elizabeth go to his office and say to Lucas “why don’t you come over here and sit on my lap for awhile and we can talk about this.”LOL I guess they were trying to convince us that what Lucas did wasn’t that bad. The whole scenario just didn’t make sense to me.
Yes I was very disappointed 😞. Nothing against Chris M. I have loved him in many movies. I just felt they purposely created the chemistry between E and N to be greater...then switched it up for shock value in the end. Not cool

Bad choice the writer choose it should have been elizabeth and nathan they were the real deal don't like lucas so sneaky and bossy nathan is the real deal so very disappointed at the ending
Two things were painfully obvious. 1. The connection between Nathan and Elizabeth was very real and was not based on her trying to replace Jack. 2. The powers that be decided to string along Team Nathan for all the ratings they could get. Maybe someday we will find out why they chose to go against the majority of their fan base and, at the same time, do incredible damage to the heroine of the show. It is just my opinion but it seems to me that BB, JT and EK had to all, at the very least, give their tacit approval to the decision. This is not a shot at Chris (he’s an excellent actor), but the saddest thing may be that when Daniel left, it was Kevin who kept the momentum of show moving forward. Kevin will do and say whatever he needs to in order to protect the show and his fellow actors, but rest assured, he didn’t approve of the way everything played out.

The epic fail: not choosing Nathan, despite the fact that he's a mountie. I thought Elizabeth had a smarter head on her shoulders than that. The writers ruined her character.

The chemistry between Kevin and Erin is just natural. Chris and Erin don't have the same chemistry at all - acting can't create that...the kiss was not in the least bit romantic or believable. And is Lucas or Nathan more like Jack and the father he would have been to little Jack? Exactly. And the character of Elizabeth is a disappointment after coming so far from her pre-Jack personality. She has gone back to "Karen" status and well... #myfriendssayI'msalty
Gayla, I was surprised by a lot of things this last season, but what they did to Elizabeth as a character was the most baffling to me. They could have gotten to the same place without making her look so bad. As for the kiss, I know some people disagree but it just looked to me like they were trying way too hard. By the way, I hope it’s ok for me to say this but I thought the line “my friends say I’m salty” was a nice touch at the end. LOL.
Yeah and that's insulting all Karens - I don't think there's a word for Season 8 Elizabeth...can't even describe her as "grieving". You don't grieve like that one day and the next day are 1000% certain about who you want to spend the rest of your life with. The story was exhausting, didn't make sense, and it was ultimately extremely disappointing. Not only the Lucas Elizabeth stuff, Carson and Faith, Rachel, Rosemary and Lee, Clara and Jesse. It was all a big fat mess that's why I'm not going back
Hope you will still enjoy these scenes ….at the very least because they prove that Elizabeth totally had the hots for Nathan. No, you did not get it wrong. They did. Also, notice I said NATHAN. Not Jack. Different faces, different names. And a much deeper connection :)
I saw the connection deeper with Nathan than with Jack. Before Season 8 she was more mature than when she first met Jack and started their relationship. I did not see a mature relationship with Lucas.

Elizabeth and Jack were both young people experiencing their first real love and because of his death, they were never able to see it grow and develop. Nathan and Elizabeth had years to become a part of each other's lives and build the kind of connection that lasting relationships are made of. Nathan would have undoubtedly been the epic love of her life!

Nathan was never given a chance with Elizabeth. The “date” was with both kids and she backed out at the last minute. The chemistry was there with Elizabeth and Nathan! All this time with the triangle, was a waste of time. Elizabeth never gave Nathan a chance!
None of us ever went to Hallmark for beautiful, predictable love stories where the Hero gets the girl and the ending was laid out with a romance formula that has been a thing forever. Oh wait, that's WHY we went always watched Hallmark and When Calls the Heart. Way to screw that one up Hallmark, Brian Bird, John Tinker and all the others. 👏🙄💔🤢😭
yep funny how from the beginning of any given Hallmark movie you know how it ends but the best part is what happens in between to get them there. For 8 years I've watched faithfully the engagement the wedding the funeral cried my eyes out. Then there was baby Jack...fast forward to bar life with a guy who has always run away from a storm instead of facing it. Yep good job BB & Tinkerbell!!

This is long, so please bear with me. Yes, yes, yes to stable, loving, and strong father figure. E & N had such great chemistry with each other. Even when they argued, they were like a truly in-love married couple. I agree with several TN fans that hope Season 8 was just a nightmare. Elizabeth is asleep after the Season 7 ending embrace of Nathan. She wakes up in Season 9. This may be the only way the producers can fix this Season 8 disaster. Also, I agree with other TN fans that think politics was in play with the disastrous Season 8 outcome. I believe Brian Bird and John Tinker saw the 70% Nathan fans and just ignored it to please Erin Krakow. In her interview she said she hopes the loser “takes it like a champ”. Why say that? Probably, because Kevin McGarry has become the most popular. He is just extremely handsome and too great a lead actor that he overshadowed all the rest, including Krakow. The producers and writers needed to keep Krakow in the forefront. What Bird, Tinker and Krakow don’t realize is that fans would have loved the E&N relationship and both would be lead actors continuing a wonderful love story. In my opinion, they threw everything at McGarry to break his spirit; but he just rose above it, and nailed each scene with perfection! Granted Chris McNally is handsome, with cute dimples; but he is what I consider an even-toned emotion actor. No matter what scene, he hardly ever changed his emotion. So McNally is probably what the writers thought was needed to keep Krakow the lead actor. There is a U-Tube clip stating that Paul Greene will be acting in another show as a MAGA Hat wearing Republican in a Hippie Commune. So will he be in WCTH Season 9? The Season 8 damage is not just Elizabeth’s romantic choice. Her character is irreparably damaged. I really cared for Elizabeth; but she’s not the only woman in HV that lost a spouse. It is shocking to see what has happened to her. She has become cruel, unapologetic, and self-centered . Also WCTH’s wholesome family values label is GONE! In real life, we see enough terrible people. WCTH use to be a Sunday night “get away” from the troubles of the world. Now, WCTH is just cruel, mean-spirited, and something I will NOT watch. The writers say there are more stories to tell. But the triangle story is the one they CONSTANTLY promoted every day on Hallmark to get us to watch and boost ratings. They say Nathan will mourn in some of Season 9. I do not want to see Nathan mourn. He suffered enough during Season 8. And what about Allie’s hurt? How will they fix that? Again, the fix is Season 8 is a NIGHTMARE Elizabeth experienced! Season 8 was like watching a bully lash out and confront people; but never get called out or punished for her or his behavior. With their champagne and candle light dinners, Elizabeth and Lucas acted like spoiled rich kids taking advantage of good people in a small town. I really don’t like being harsh; but I think Elizabeth should: 1) pack her and Little Jack’s bags for the Summer, and go live with her parents in Hamilton; 2) get her Braille teaching certificate; and 3) get some mental therapy because I think she is not well. For example, Elizabeth: 1) laughed with Lucas about holding Nathan’s hands at Florence’s wedding reception - saying she was “mortified” - even though she jolted Nathan backwards embracing him at the end of Season 7; 2) lashed out at Rosemary by falsely accusing her of encouraging Nathan; 3) shouted and yelled at Nathan falsely accusing him when he bent over backwards to be supportive over the adoption invitations -- as well as Allie’s anger with Elizabeth; 4) faked illness to not go to dinner with Nathan, Allie, and Little Jack; 5) chased after and flirted with Nathan only to break his heart when he professed his love; 6) took binoculars from Lucas -- I repeat, took binoculars from Lucas, and used them to do a laser beam stare at Nathan until he caught her looking; 7) came to Nathan’s office and told him to stop shutting her out; 8) flirted with Nathan when they tried to put that red bird on the Christmas tree; 9) told Nathan she was happy he’s staying in Hope Valley; 10) and encouraged him to ask her out when they were in the stable. And Lucas: 1) accused Nathan of pressuring Elizabeth regarding their relationship, when Nathan clearly stayed away; 2) gave Elizabeth Allie’s adoption gift to gain favor with Elizabeth when he could have given the gift directly to Nathan; and 3) threatened to pick up his toys and leave town -for a second time- because things don’t go his way. Again, Lucas is handsome; but he was already a suspect character; the writers just made it official. The majority of WCTH fans are not happy. Well, I’m done venting and this is why I’m done with When Calls the Heart.
Mary Lester Campbell, It is not your fault that your post is lengthy. You weren’t nitpicking. Everything you pointed out is a significant reason to question why the show took the turn that it did. No one can convince me that the plan wasn’t to have Nathan be the endgame up until the end of season 7. Something changed. Although Erin Krakow may not have been the only voice in choosing Lucas, I can’t believe it would ever happen without her full support behind the scenes. I agree with you, her character has been damaged beyond repair. A long vacation is in order for Elizabeth, but instead, the show will be dominated by the E&L love story next year. I believe that many of the disappointed Nathan fans will tune in early next season, but their negative feelings will come rushing back as they get a steady diet of the love story. Elizabeth’s actions toward Nathan were unforgivable in several different ways, but the one that I can’t get past is that when he was leaving town, she went to his office and made it perfectly clear that she wanted him to stay and that they were more than just friends. He changed his entire future and she never even gave him a chance. The show treated this just like they did the hug, they pretended like it never really happened. I won’t be watching season 9 either. Hope all is well with you.
Now as if things were not bad enough,BB said there will be sparks between Nathan and Faith : it is so wrong and they don't even have chemistry.What a disappointment ! Honestly,i think i want Nathan to apply to the position of Inspector again and leave Hope Valley.I don't trust the writers to give him good storylines,i see them destroying his character by putting him with the wrong woman like they did with Elisabeth.

You know Kevin was crushed with the decision to have Elizabeth choose Lucas, but he put on a brave face in public for the good of the show and now they can’t even bring in someone new for him. They are just clearing the playing field so there will be nothing to interfere with the E&L love story. They know that Nathan has become the most popular character on the show and I have no doubt that people behind the scenes are actively working to move him deeper into the background. The sad thing is that I believe Kevin is the one that kept the show moving along after Daniel left. I think it’s time for Kevin to move on and see how the show does without him. I certainly will be moving on. I am a definite no for season 9.
@@ehoffman2260 I don't know if people are "conspiring" against him,i don't want to spread rumors and talk about things that are not my business.But i think leaving the show right now is not a good idea ,sometimes you need to humble yourself and wait,he is talented and i hope his performance on WCTH has been noticed,the time for a good lead role will come, and i also think that living now can make him look like a prideful man,like he is too talented to be pushed in the background,it can be a detriment for his career. He needs to think about the future and be wise on how he handles all of this : be silent on SM and just focus on his projects.

I just meant that I think that the people who are making the decisions will decide that in order to fully promote the E&L love story it is best to push Nathan to the back burner, at least for the early part of next season. I don’t believe the powers that be want to say that out loud for fear that it will further alienate Team Nathan fans. Kevin is definitely lead role talent and I believe if they couple him with Faith their relationship will always be secondary to the E&L love story. I also didn’t mean that he should leave the show immediately because that would most definitely be a detriment to his future, especially with Hallmark. I agree, he should certainly stay silent on social media. I do however, think it is time for him to start looking for other opportunities and act on them when the time is right for him. I can’t see how he will ever be considered the leading man in WCTH at this point.
Bernardine Jolly June 18, 2021 I want to thank "The Little Scenes" for the work of editing the video showing the loving interaction of Elizabeth and Nathan in WCTH in S7 & S8. I was overwhelmingly sad. It seemed to me Kevin McGarry playing the Mountie was able to convey his emotions through facial expressions, even the more difficult emotion of tenderness. such as, in the jail scene and at the Flo and Ned party holding hands. I would like to see a mutual love interest without the cumbersome interference from a rival. Comments have been made to bring back Elizabeth's sister who was seen at the Christening of LJ. Another comment mentioned Dr. Carson Shepherd's sister-in-law from S1, Cindy Busby. Others mentioned a new teacher for the schools as a love interest for Nathan. I wish to mention that sometimes a widow with a son is known to date for years, but never marries her boyfriend. It is common for a widow not to trust a man who isn't her son's father to raise her son. It may happen that Elizabeth Thornton remains a widow in future episodes for that reason.
I saw some storylines regarding the fact things might change.People forget that it is the writers who decide what Elisabeth can and cannot do and i am afraid people may give them too much credit.What you describe about widows is interesting but i'm not sure the writers see things like that,they want to move on with the storyline so people need to expect to see Elisabeth moving on.

If E does not marry L, and remain a widow and put her character into a self sacrificing devoted to her job as teacher, maybe put her thru a ringer like they did to Nathan ..meanwhile Nathan will have a romantic new life with total new lady, ie Cindy Busby, whom i mentioned before, expressed her desire to come back in the show! Love her in Autumn Stables w Kevin, great chemistry together.she had many films with HM , latest is Down Under...filmed in Australia...hopefully HM is making amends to right the wrongs they've done to this wholesome tv series! Brian Bird has now made abundantly clear that they picked Lucas despite the fan base rooting for Nathan because they did not want to continue down the "Mountie Teacher" road- they wanted something brand new so they could keep the show running for many more seasons...now don't even get me started on how ridiculous that is. I know he is making it out to be a rational decision but I have to say they gravely underestimated their fan base. Birds twitter is now basically completely left to Team Lucas fans who are loudly voicing their support but I doubt that they Chris McNally will be able to carry the show for long, and I don't think Erin will either - not after all those Nathan and Elizabeth scenes. It seems that WCTH is now doomed because they decided on what they thought was longevity...but we all know that a show runs longest when it is loved the most. That love is now gone...so I expect them to make the most of Lucas and Elizabeths relationship now but I will be surprised to see something beyond Season 10. I will even be surprised if they get a Season 10.

Heartland is up to S 15 now/thought WCTH was just as good and hoped that they'll surpass Heartland...but by sound of it, unless theycan turn it around for disappointed fans, may not, if writers cant redeem themselves coz of the new direction its taking! More I think abt it - Not optimistic. HM, BB OR JT will do it for fans at this point!
I think Cindy Bugsby would be awesome for Nathan. I’d like to see her come back as a teacher. Since Hope Valley is growing they could bring her in as the 2nd teacher. Then we could have the great love story of the Mountie and teacher. The teacher needs to be somewhat new to the town. I’m not sold in Ned’s daughter.
I've been thinking that this is just where the story really gets told. She is not married to Lucas. So as they say, it's not over til it's over. Probably more wishful thinking but who knows. I just think those 2 characters were very good together.
That thought came also into my mind. I pushed it also away for the same reason you did: Just wishful thinking. But who knows. In my perception, E+N are so strong together, so connected/bounded, even when they argued - for me it always looked like they are a couple already. Hi the little scenes. I was waiting for u to do a video such as this. I was so heartbroken with the finale that i think more than just the choice, i have decided to stop watching the show because of what the choice signify, which is a complete and utter bad writing. But i gave myself a chance, i mean, i survived Jack's departure, Abigail's departure, i think i can survive the choice and watch season 9. But then, after staying away from it all, i saw how the producers and writers lashed out against the angered fans. I was even more heartbroken. I wanted to say, your videos were all awesome, it provided entertainment and solace. I will stop watching the show because i will pretend final episode of season 8 didnt happen. Ahaha and i write the story in my head that she ended up with N, because her character in season 8 was completely unbecoming. Was hurt when the creator said that Lucas has always been the endgame, but the writing does not reflect that, and the casts had said in multiple interviews that nobody knows of the choice until filming for final episod was done. It was very bad writing. Very poorly managed. I am still so disappointed. Sorry for commenting so much here.
I don't believe Lucas was always the choice,the former showrunner wanted people to root for Nathan and Lucas was introduced as a shady character and they never gave him depth .Now they are trying to create a different narrative for the new storyline.

Next season we expect to see Nathan making Elizabeth jealous sort of like Lee did to Rosie. Faith will be perfect for it because she is so wish washy. Nathan will win her in the end. As I read comments, I agree we were strung along because the Nathan character was far better for E. Heck, Lucas even took credit for being the hero’s in the saloon kidnapping segment. ! Ticked me off and I could never like the character afterwards. I think Lucas is handsome and Chris is a fine actor but, he is not for WCTH’s Elizabeth. He and Faith or he and Fiona but NOT Elizabeth.

Greetings E Hoffman: You’re absolutely correct. The bitter, bitter taste Season 8 left was just too much. I too find it difficult to get past the scene in Nathan’s office when Elizabeth wanted him to stay instead of taking the inspector’s job; as well as the Season 7 ending embrace. Those are two main factors why I think there was politics played to keep Krakow the lead actor. I do not believe Bird and Tinker are strong enough to admit big-time mistakes. They would have to fix them. In an interview Jack Wagner gave a puzzled look when explaining Season 8. Not fixing Season 8 could place ALL the real actors’ careers and livelihoods on the line. Why would they push a Nathan and Faith rebound relationship? That’s just further insult to our intelligence. Faith and Carson’s relationship was so back and forth (do I stay, do I go, will you go with me, no I want to stay in HV, etc). That was exhausting. This is probably why Paul Greene is going with that other show. As for Kevin McGarry, there’s hope. He will be in an upcoming Hallmark trilogy with Lacy Chaubert. That’s where I’ll be. Also Greetings to you Aurora: Let me see if I can explain myself a bit better. McGarry’s talents are recognized as he will be in an upcoming Hallmark trilogy. I can’t speak for anyone else; but I have waited three years for the Nathan end game. And, not sure why I should be humble. I do not keep coming back for more punishment or to see what I believe will be a Season 9 disaster. I am curious to know what you think will happen to Allie now? She has to see her beloved father mourn in Season 9. Allie has to sit in Elizabeth’s classroom daily to watch and listen to the woman that caused her father so much pain. Do you think Allie will ask Nathan to leave town? There’s a great deal of pain to be repaired in this show. I have heard that Bird and Tinker did not expect the negative backlash they received from the Season 8 outcome. I do believe Bird and Tinker have only one option to fix this. Season 8 is a nightmare Elizabeth experiences. Unfortunately, I also believe politics will not allow them to fix this. There’s an old adage, “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me”. The problem with Season 8 is not just with Elizabeth’s romantic choice; or a contest about who gets the girl. It’s about WCTH throwing out truth, trust, logic, family values, morality, fairness, and common decency just for ratings. Let’s not forget the 70% fan base they betrayed.
Mary Lester Campbell, I was so disgusted with how season 8 went it would have been difficult to convince me to return for season 9, but I was hoping for Kevin’s sake that they would, at the very least, bring in a love interest to put him on equal footing with the E&L love story. Even though they were not together, they could have had Erin and Kevin as co stars more or less. Hearing that they are going to put Nathan and Faith together assures me that they plan to feature Elizabeth and Lucas, and Nathan will be relegated to a secondary role. It is clear to me that when decisions are being made there is no one there to represent Kevin’s interests and therefore it’s time for him to find the most graceful way to exit, when it is best for him, and find another venue to showcase his talents. For the show to go against 70% of its fan base and then back bench who I believe is its most popular and best actor is just hard for me to fathom. You take care.
I don't know what will happen with Allie.Maybe the writers will make her be totally fine with all of this because they don't want her to suffer more,i think they have read enough comments about how Allie was badly treated this season .So she might be a nice and polite girl next season telling Mrs Thornthon that she is happy for her,who knows ? Well, WCTH already broke up this household. My wife was TL my daughter and I were TN. No way I’m watching next season so I guess my wife will be watching it alone. What a shame, we always looked forward to watching it together on Sunday nights. I don’t think these writers would know chemistry if it came up and slapped them in the face. Bill and Molly. 🤮 And then showing a little tease with Nathan and Faith? 🤮 I agree with everyone else, Nathan really was never given a chance. There was no triangle, it was basically E and L most of the season with little teases tossed at TN cruelly giving us a false hope that he could still be picked. I can't move on from the last episode, so distasteful what they did to Nathan. It makes me dislike E and L more and more. He always looks like he just wants to jump into bed with E. No love, only lust. He bought her heart and she was foolish enough not to see through him and his sleazy ways. So disappointed in HM and the writers and anyone who made the bad decision. I guess L got his trophy wife, but honestly, Nathan is too good for E and for WCTH.

I think the fans, for the most part, respected Nathan more with each episode. That is what you would want if Elizabeth is going to choose him, but if she is going to choose Lucas it seems like a mistake to make Nathan look like such an admirable person. In my eyes they made Nathan the hero and then slapped the hero in the face. It just seemed to add to Team Nathan’s frustration.

Yes, they (Br Bird) are doing damage control which shows me that they actually did not expect this type of response. They thought people would think that the ending was great and made sense. They are completely out of touch with their main fan base (which by the way is the people that love a good Mountie love story). Let's be honest: the show was never about Elizabeth. It was always about Elizabeth with her Mountie. That's the hard truth TL fans need to realize. I think they wildly underestimated how fans would feel about this and they don't quite understand how longevity works: it works when people like your show and characters and like the direction it's going- if 70% of Twitter users voted that they thought Nathan would be endgame...that means that the Nathan story made sense to 70% of the Twitter fan base, and probably also 70% of the overall fan base. Even if they did not like him...they thought it would make sense. 30% thought Lucas would make more sense....Do I have to continue to explain what that means? I will just repeat this: a show keeps running as long as the fans love it. Not as long as "SOME" fans love it.

It was as if they were in a bubble with like minded people and there was no one there to offer a different perspective. The “ I love you but I’m not in love with you” scene tells you all you need to know about how clueless they were. The fact that they wanted Nathan to say “thank you” to Elizabeth as opposed to Elizabeth offering some sort of apology to Nathan for her treatment of him during season 8 shows you just how misguided they were.

I prefer to read the 6 WCTH books by dear Mrs Oke. There is no Chris and no Nathan. So no disappointment. Elizabeth marries Wynn Delaney; then they adopt two children. And the story is great
I think the only reason for Lucas and Nathan was because Jack left the show. It makes more sense to have Elizabeth with Nathan, as he is the Mountie, keeping the story closer to the book series. There could also be 2 adoptions, like the book, in Elizabeth adopting Allie and Nathan adopting baby Jack.
Agree- even if they didn’t want it to be another Mountie…why pick a rich guy that’s never worked for anything in his life and basically bought her love? You can write a better love interest for her than that

That’s why I’m wishing CB comes to Hope Valley. I’m not watching WCTH but might catch it later if CB joins as a love interest for Nathan. BB seems adamant that it’s going to remain L & E. That’s too hard to watch. Unless it becomes N & C. With Cindy as a second school teacher in HV. That would make it bearable and give us the Mountie and teacher love story we wanted. Scroll down, according to Misella 77, and I quote, "What is verifiable is that it looks like JT's assistant Cierra Winkler is part of the writing team." Further down, Misella 77 said: "She was part of all 3 episodes where Elizabeth rejects Nathan. She was very vocal about her love of Lucas and dislike of Nathan on her FB lives. Does not bode well for Nathan on S9 E1 since she wrote it." I think the many disappointed fans should be aware of this information.
C C, I would prefer somebody new for Nathan. The Elizabeth of season 8 was just too self absorbed for my tastes. I’d be ok with Fiona but it might be too difficult for the two actors to work together.
Hard to imagine him with someone else since we’d been rooting for him and Elizabeth. Whoever they choose should have good on screen chemistry and their characters personalities should make sense together. I don’t think Nathan and Faith have chemistry (seemed very forced and way too much like a soap opera) and Nathan and Fiona’s personalities are very different so I think it would seem more natural if there was a great new lady for Nathan. But even better would be if this whole ridiculous season 8 was a nightmare and Nathan and Elizabeth end up together.

I see Elizabeth as being the lead in her relationship with Lucas. Nathan is also a lead especially being the Mountie. He will get a lot of airtime. The writers know Kevin McGarry is popular. I want him to have a soulmate that puts him first. Preferably not a widow. At this point in Nathan’s life he needs someone who is 100% in to him.

Dreadful choice for outcome of a love story involving Elizabeth and Nathan over 2 seasons on WCTH !! It was an in depth look at the progression of their feelings involving their children also !! Lucas role was not a significant one in the series storyline and never had the depth required for the final outcome !! Poor choices and writing in Season8 ruined the series for a large number of fans who will never watch WCTH in the future !!
This is exactly why L and E are not a popular couple..heck they are not even in the top 200 couples on TV right now. L and E have 0 chemistry. They went for shock value and lost almost one million viewers between the ages of 18-34 and thats huge

I don’t think that matters like I already said. WCTH never was about portraying the reality. I liked Lucas when he had some edge back in S6 but ever since then I don’t get the point of his character,…he’s sort of just there and could just as well not have been. But to answer your question I think there were many different types of saloon owners. I just don’t think that the town teacher would necessarily hang out with him as much but again, WCTH isn’t supposed to be realistic

Deidre probably doesn’t have a true reaction lol. I don’t know if she cares that much about the show, I think she just likes her job at ET. But if she did have a reaction and I had to guess I’d say she’d be worried about the ending and wondering what made them go against 70% of the fans, just like Erin Krakow was worried. Rewatching the interview you can just tell how tense everybody was about Lucas being the choice: worst executed love triangle goes to WCTH. When you’re worried about how your fans are gonna react it’s probably the wrong choice

To be fair, you could also call Nathan deceitful because he kept the truth about Jack and his real reason for coming to HV from Elizabeth for years. Nathan is far from perfect.
@@margaretyong9198 Respectfully, I’ve never seen Elizabeth more consumed with passion or a love for life and just pure unadulterated joy, than when she is with Lucas and it showed in that kiss and all the kisses after that. She’s finally unafraid and is bold enough to be happy in a way that she has been denying herself for too long.
Forget the bitterness. It’s a show. Season 9 will bring resolution. They will find the right choice for him. It wasn’t him. Lucas has more in common. The best choice ever.
She has the right to be disappointed,especially when you think about how things played out,calling her bitter is too easy. If Nathan had been chosen,you would be disappointed too and i would have been empathetic for those who wanted a different outcome.But i have noticed that many people that are happy about this season are a bit like Elisabeth was : selfish and cold,they can't understand that there are others who didn't like what they saw and are just shocked. Besides, what Lucas and Elisabeth have in common are just superficial things : upbringing and books.They don't have an emotional connexion,they haven't share anything deep since they started dating,and Elisabeth never really gave compliments about Lucas's character, something that she likes in him,quite surprising because he is her supposed lifetime love,maybe i'm mistaken but i don't remember. She should have marry Charles and not Jack if her upbringing was what matters the most to her.
Yes, Team L can't seem to accept that even aa show fiction or not...there are lessons we can learn from wholesome - family honest to goodness storytelling WCTH HAD THAT...till S8 and writers changed direction for fun, for longevity, toying with Fans emotions, devaluing fans loyalty, for more ratings, for a more edgy storylines etc.. The moral and real HEART OF THE WCTH STORY is about true love, sacrifices, responsibility, not all material things, stuff, about what is in their HEARTS!! and making a difference in people's lives! Nathan showed that in nany situations!! L was rescued by Nathan in E6...again in S8 beginning oil fiasco! Lucas did all showy stuff to E and town coz he had the $$$ so not hero like IMO. Show will not ever be the same going forward if MOUNTIE & Teacher is not centerpiece of the storyline ..IMO in a final nutshell!!

I still can’t believe they threw out the beautiful complex deep meaningful relationship that could’ve been. I understand that maybe in season 6 they wanted to see how things would play out but after that they should’ve known to be able to give the actors proper direction. Elizabeth’s demeanour, manor and expressions do not show any indication of looking for Jack in Nathan.

I love these scenes and the many others that repeatedly show the deep and loving connection between Nathan and Elizabeth. We saw it physically and emotionally DESPITE the fact that the writers never once gave his character a chance to show his romantic side. It was always there, in the storytelling and we could all feel it. The decision to choose Lucas is honestly the most unexplainable. choice I've ever seen in a show or read in a story. Everything they did leading up to the finale built the story of Nathan and Elizabeth and their children and yet - they went off the rails in an epic FAIL! There is NO explanation that will ever satisfy me as to why they did this.
I totally agree. The writers will never admit they made a terrible mistake with going with Lucas. Completely ruined a beautiful love story between E & N . Heartbreaking.

This is also true instead of conquering your fears and fighting for love they said give in take the easier path all for money and ratings. They said Lucas would make a far more interesting story lines and keep the show going but I think the opposite. Honor true love courage will always win out! The story of a blended family would have been so sweet! Seeing Nathan’s romantic side ! The decision has left a bitter taste in our mouths and I do not think WCTH can recover from it.

So would have been a fresh story, one that could have had many remarkable experiences / stories to tell. (If they had an imagination) IMO watching them try to transform Lucas into more of a family man...who Nathan is already will be boring and not believable. He handled saloon owner/ business man well, but the few scenes they have shown with him in a more casual setting makes him look out of place totally. Besides not wanting to watch Elizabeth and Lucas relationship grow going forward,. I don't want to see Nathan become buddies with Lucas. As poorly as he was treated by both of them (including Allie) this just doesn't make sense. Plus they would be giving us another false narrative that they don't repeat storylines. It would be like creating Rosemary's and Elizabeth's friendship all over again. Only in this case, not only was Nathan treated deplorable but brought Allie into the drama as well.
In my mind, the series ended at the season 7 finale when Elizabeth ran to and hugged Nathan 🤷🏽♀️. They got together and were happy. They raised LJ, Allie, and had another kid or 2 together. Nathan was a mountie for some time but retired early to do something else, partly because he didn't want Elizabeth to worry anymore but also because it felt right and he wanted to try something else.

I was shocked! I felt sorry for the Lucas fans bc I just knew it was going to be Nathan. I was so disappointed. I don’t watch a lot of tv but I started thinking about it and I don’t know of any shows that have set up a love triangle like this. Maybe a girl likes a guy that the audience knows is bad and eventually she discovers it and goes for the good guy, but there are never two good guys and she eventually picks one. I assume most shows don’t do this bc it disappoints roughly half of the audience! Good thing they dragged it out and got their ratings bc I don’t think they will have the good ratings going forward.
Kim, I agree. Just from a business standpoint, shows always rough up the loser a bit so that his or her fans can at least see why they weren’t chosen. In my opinion, they made Nathan the most admirable character in the show and then crushed him. It’s just another baffling decision by this group. It seems like they were making it up as they went along and didn’t really plan anything out. I think they will pay a heavy price for it in the long run.

Agree too. The first showrunner that introduced the characters actually said this was the goal: to not have a classic triangle where someone is the bad guy. I assume he had somewhat of a vision that it would end with one of them stepping back or moving on to another love interest.
I don't think his vision was to open up the Jack wound again. Brian Bird says it added depth to the show: I say it was a last resort for some drama. If you remember back when S5 ended and Jack died after Elizabeth grieved Erin Krakow said that they would move on now - they would talk about Jack but they would no longer grieve him. That was supposed to be over.
One might argue that the hug was the start of the Jack comparison - but that is also not the case because the old showrunner says he doesn't write beyond one season. Meaning that was actually an open ending with different possible ways of moving forward.
I wouldn't have minded if they further explored Elizabeth's trauma around Nathan getting shot/JAcks death...but to be fair they should've explored the theme with Lucas also- after all he is a love interest too and for example could've been injured in the oil explosion. I do not think that the Mountie uniform makes a difference there.
Everything simply points to a poorly thought out story and an even poorer execution of story. The way to end the triangle would've been by making Lucas into a real, "get his hands dirty" type of hero and have someone else come in for Nathan IN Season 8...they did just the opposite, made Nathan the hero had no happy ending, no character development for Elizabeth or Lucas who are now supposed to be the main love relationship...and they expect fans to continue tuning in.
This show has left such a trauma that not only do I not want to tune in, I am actually afraid of watching an episode without knowing how the season will end because I don't trust in John Tinkers abilities to run this show. I trust in my own judgement more: which tells me to not watch Season 9.

Allie her disappointment abt Elizabeth refusing her invite? ...the Coulters, the Canfields role as spiritual counselors why E never even incl. their advise or counsel when she was acting lost and confused instead of lashing out at her friend, R and N as well as indifferent to Allie feelings who was close to her in S 6 n 7??...that need to be explained to viewers. No wonder fans are hurt, and devastated!
E became all abt poor conflicted self, her happiness not even considering LJ future role model by choosing L for dad,/ and became less on being teacher role model or mother.to LJ..
@@emydel679 I’m glad you brought up Henry’s son. It was definitely underhanded for Lucas to bring him to town to watch Henry, but I thought it was even more ridiculous than underhanded. Even if he is mad at his dad, it seems far fetched for Lucas to assume he would betray his father and help him. Also, they tried to portray Lucas as almost the perfect guy this season and this was one of the few times they tried to tarnish his image a little bit. When Henry’s son confronted him on the street, Lucas overreacted and ran to his office to have a drink and then the writers punished Lucas by having Elizabeth go to his office and say to Lucas “why don’t you come over here and sit on my lap for awhile and we can talk about this.”LOL I guess they were trying to convince us that what Lucas did wasn’t that bad. The whole scenario just didn’t make sense to me.

Will only support this show 1) if E & L are not the leads! 2 ) save the orig story, Return the Mountie as single Dad and his new life ! as main theme !3 ) Erin & Chris go on world tour as couple and leave HV. ...Lol!

yup even after almost 2 months since the disastrous finale I still just can't wrap my head around their choice!
Two things were painfully obvious. 1. The connection between Nathan and Elizabeth was very real and was not based on her trying to replace Jack. 2. The powers that be decided to string along Team Nathan for all the ratings they could get. Maybe someday we will find out why they chose to go against the majority of their fan base and, at the same time, do incredible damage to the heroine of the show. It is just my opinion but it seems to me that BB, JT and EK had to all, at the very least, give their tacit approval to the decision. This is not a shot at Chris (he’s an excellent actor), but the saddest thing may be that when Daniel left, it was Kevin who kept the momentum of show moving forward. Kevin will do and say whatever he needs to in order to protect the show and his fellow actors, but rest assured, he didn’t approve of the way everything played out.

The chemistry between Kevin and Erin is just natural. Chris and Erin don't have the same chemistry at all - acting can't create that...the kiss was not in the least bit romantic or believable. And is Lucas or Nathan more like Jack and the father he would have been to little Jack? Exactly. And the character of Elizabeth is a disappointment after coming so far from her pre-Jack personality. She has gone back to "Karen" status and well... #myfriendssayI'msalty
Gayla, I was surprised by a lot of things this last season, but what they did to Elizabeth as a character was the most baffling to me. They could have gotten to the same place without making her look so bad. As for the kiss, I know some people disagree but it just looked to me like they were trying way too hard. By the way, I hope it’s ok for me to say this but I thought the line “my friends say I’m salty” was a nice touch at the end. LOL.
Yeah and that's insulting all Karens - I don't think there's a word for Season 8 Elizabeth...can't even describe her as "grieving". You don't grieve like that one day and the next day are 1000% certain about who you want to spend the rest of your life with.
The story was exhausting, didn't make sense, and it was ultimately extremely disappointing.
Not only the Lucas Elizabeth stuff, Carson and Faith, Rachel, Rosemary and Lee, Clara and Jesse. It was all a big fat mess that's why I'm not going back

I saw the connection deeper with Nathan than with Jack. Before Season 8 she was more mature than when she first met Jack and started their relationship. I did not see a mature relationship with Lucas.

yep funny how from the beginning of any given Hallmark movie you know how it ends but the best part is what happens in between to get them there. For 8 years I've watched faithfully the engagement the wedding the funeral cried my eyes out. This is long, so please bear with me. Yes, yes, yes to stable, loving, and strong father figure. E & N had such great chemistry with each other. Even when they argued, they were like a truly in-love married couple. I agree with several TN fans that hope Season 8 was just a nightmare. Elizabeth is asleep after the Season 7 ending embrace of Nathan. She wakes up in Season 9. This may be the only way the producers can fix this Season 8 disaster.
Also, I agree with other TN fans that think politics was in play with the disastrous Season 8 outcome. I believe Brian Bird and John Tinker saw the 70% Nathan fans and just ignored it to please Erin Krakow. In her interview she said she hopes the loser “takes it like a champ”. Why say that? Probably, because Kevin McGarry has become the most popular. He is just extremely handsome and too great a lead actor that he overshadowed all the rest, including Krakow. The producers and writers needed to keep Krakow in the forefront. What Bird, Tinker and Krakow don’t realize is that fans would have loved the E&N relationship and both would be lead actors continuing a wonderful love story. In my opinion, they threw everything at McGarry to break his spirit; but he just rose above it, and nailed each scene with perfection! Granted Chris McNally is handsome, with cute dimples; but he is what I consider an even-toned emotion actor. No matter what scene, he hardly ever changed his emotion. So McNally is probably what the writers thought was needed to keep Krakow the lead actor.
There is a U-Tube clip stating that Paul Greene will be acting in another show as a MAGA Hat wearing Republican in a Hippie Commune. So will he be in WCTH Season 9?
The Season 8 damage is not just Elizabeth’s romantic choice. Her character is irreparably damaged. I really cared for Elizabeth; but she’s not the only woman in HV that lost a spouse. It is shocking to see what has happened to her. She has become cruel, unapologetic, and self-centered . Also WCTH’s wholesome family values label is GONE! In real life, we see enough terrible people. WCTH use to be a Sunday night “get away” from the troubles of the world. Now, WCTH is just cruel, mean-spirited, and something I will NOT watch.
The writers say there are more stories to tell. But the triangle story is the one they CONSTANTLY promoted every day on Hallmark to get us to watch and boost ratings. They say Nathan will mourn in some of Season 9. I do not want to see Nathan mourn. He suffered enough during Season 8. And what about Allie’s hurt? How will they fix that?
Again, the fix is Season 8 is a NIGHTMARE Elizabeth experienced!
Season 8 was like watching a bully lash out and confront people; but never get called out or punished for her or his behavior. With their champagne and candle light dinners, Elizabeth and Lucas acted like spoiled rich kids taking advantage of good people in a small town.
I really don’t like being harsh; but I think Elizabeth should: 1) pack her and Little Jack’s bags for the Summer, and go live with her parents in Hamilton; 2) get her Braille teaching certificate; and 3) get some mental therapy because I think she is not well.
For example, Elizabeth: 1) laughed with Lucas about holding Nathan’s hands at Florence’s wedding reception - saying she was “mortified” - even though she jolted Nathan backwards embracing him at the end of Season 7; 2) lashed out at Rosemary by falsely accusing her of encouraging Nathan; 3) shouted and yelled at Nathan falsely accusing him when he bent over backwards to be supportive over the adoption invitations -- as well as Allie’s anger with Elizabeth; 4) faked illness to not go to dinner with Nathan, Allie, and Little Jack; 5) chased after and flirted with Nathan only to break his heart when he professed his love; 6) took binoculars from Lucas -- I repeat, took binoculars from Lucas, and used them to do a laser beam stare at Nathan until he caught her looking; 7) came to Nathan’s office and told him to stop shutting her out; 8) flirted with Nathan when they tried to put that red bird on the Christmas tree; 9) told Nathan she was happy he’s staying in Hope Valley; 10) and encouraged him to ask her out when they were in the stable.
And Lucas: 1) accused Nathan of pressuring Elizabeth regarding their relationship, when Nathan clearly stayed away; 2) gave Elizabeth Allie’s adoption gift to gain favor with Elizabeth when he could have given the gift directly to Nathan; and 3) threatened to pick up his toys and leave town -for a second time- because things don’t go his way. Again, Lucas is handsome; but he was already a suspect character; the writers just made it official.
The majority of WCTH fans are not happy. Well, I’m done venting and this is why I’m done with When Calls the Heart.
Mary Lester Campbell, It is not your fault that your post is lengthy. You weren’t nitpicking. Everything you pointed out is a significant reason to question why the show took the turn that it did. No one can convince me that the plan wasn’t to have Nathan be the endgame up until the end of season 7. Something changed. Although Erin Krakow may not have been the only voice in choosing Lucas, I can’t believe it would ever happen without her full support behind the scenes. I agree with you, her character has been damaged beyond repair. A long vacation is in order for Elizabeth, but instead, the show will be dominated by the E&L love story next year. I believe that many of the disappointed Nathan fans will tune in early next season, but their negative feelings will come rushing back as they get a steady diet of the love story. Elizabeth’s actions toward Nathan were unforgivable in several different ways, but the one that I can’t get past is that when he was leaving town, she went to his office and made it perfectly clear that she wanted him to stay and that they were more than just friends. He changed his entire future and she never even gave him a chance. The show treated this just like they did the hug, they pretended like it never really happened. I won’t be watching season 9 either. Hope all is well with you.
Now as if things were not bad enough,BB said there will be sparks between Nathan and Faith : it is so wrong and they don't even have chemistry.What a disappointment !
Honestly,i think i want Nathan to apply to the position of Inspector again and leave Hope Valley.I don't trust the writers to give him good storylines,i see them destroying his character by putting him with the wrong woman like they did with Elisabeth.

You know Kevin was crushed with the decision to have Elizabeth choose Lucas, but he put on a brave face in public for the good of the show and now they can’t even bring in someone new for him. They are just clearing the playing field so there will be nothing to interfere with the E&L love story. They know that Nathan has become the most popular character on the show and I have no doubt that people behind the scenes are actively working to move him deeper into the background. The sad thing is that I believe Kevin is the one that kept the show moving along after Daniel left. I think it’s time for Kevin to move on and see how the show does without him. I certainly will be moving on. I am a definite no for season 9.
@@ehoffman2260 I don't know if people are "conspiring" against him,i don't want to spread rumors and talk about things that are not my business.But i think leaving the show right now is not a good idea ,sometimes you need to humble yourself and wait,he is talented and i hope his performance on WCTH has been noticed,the time for a good lead role will come, and i also think that living now can make him look like a prideful man,like he is too talented to be pushed in the background,it can be a detriment for his career. He needs to think about the future and be wise on how he handles all of this : be silent on SM and just focus on his projects.

I just meant that I think that the people who are making the decisions will decide that in order to fully promote the E&L love story it is best to push Nathan to the back burner, at least for the early part of next season. I don’t believe the powers that be want to say that out loud for fear that it will further alienate Team Nathan fans. Kevin is definitely lead role talent and I believe if they couple him with Faith their relationship will always be secondary to the E&L love story. I also didn’t mean that he should leave the show immediately because that would most definitely be a detriment to his future, especially with Hallmark. I agree, he should certainly stay silent on social media. I do however, think it is time for him to start looking for other opportunities and act on them when the time is right for him. I can’t see how he will ever be considered the leading man in WCTH at this point.

I want to thank "The Little Scenes" for the work of editing the video showing the loving interaction of Elizabeth and Nathan in WCTH in S7 & S8. I was overwhelmingly sad. It seemed to me Kevin McGarry playing the Mountie was able to convey his emotions through facial expressions, even the more difficult emotion of tenderness. such as, in the jail scene and at the Flo and Ned party holding hands. I would like to see a mutual love interest without the cumbersome interference from a rival.
Comments have been made to bring back Elizabeth's sister who was seen at the Christening of LJ. Another comment mentioned Dr. Carson Shepherd's sister-in-law from S1, Cindy Busby. Others mentioned a new teacher for the schools as a love interest for Nathan.
I wish to mention that sometimes a widow with a son is known to date for years, but never marries her boyfriend. It is common for a widow not to trust a man who isn't her son's father to raise her son. It may happen that Elizabeth Thornton remains a widow in future episodes for that reason.
I saw some storylines regarding the fact things might change.People forget that it is the writers who decide what Elisabeth can and cannot do and i am afraid people may give them too much credit.What you describe about widows is interesting but i'm not sure the writers see things like that,they want to move on with the storyline so people need to expect to see Elisabeth moving on.

If E does not marry L, and remain a widow and put her character into a self sacrificing devoted to her job as teacher, maybe put her thru a ringer like they did to Nathan ..meanwhile Nathan will have a romantic new life with total new lady, ie Cindy Busby, whom i mentioned before, expressed her desire to come back in the show! Brian Bird has now made abundantly clear that they picked Lucas despite the fan base rooting for Nathan because they did not want to continue down the "Mountie Teacher" road- they wanted something brand new so they could keep the show running for many more seasons...now don't even get me started on how ridiculous that is. I know he is making it out to be a rational decision but I have to say they gravely underestimated their fan base. Birds twitter is now basically completely left to Team Lucas fans who are loudly voicing their support but I doubt that they Chris McNally will be able to carry the show for long, and I don't think Erin will either - not after all those Nathan and Elizabeth scenes.
It seems that WCTH is now doomed because they decided on what they thought was longevity...but we all know that a show runs longest when it is loved the most. That love is now gone...so I expect them to make the most of Lucas and Elizabeths relationship now but I will be surprised to see something beyond Season 10. I will even be surprised if they get a Season 10.

I think Cindy Bugsby would be awesome for Nathan. I’d like to see her come back as a teacher. Since Hope Valley is growing they could bring her in as the 2nd teacher. Then we could have the great love story of the Mountie and teacher. The teacher needs to be somewhat new to the town. I’m not sold in Ned’s daughter.
I've been thinking that this is just where the story really gets told. She is not married to Lucas. So as they say, it's not over til it's over. Probably more wishful thinking but who knows. I just think those 2 characters were very good together.
That thought came also into my mind. I pushed it also away for the same reason you did: Just wishful thinking. But who knows. In my perception, E+N are so strong together, so connected/bounded, even when they argued - for me it always looked like they are a couple already. Hi the little scenes. I was waiting for u to do a video such as this. I was so heartbroken with the finale that i think more than just the choice, i have decided to stop watching the show because of what the choice signify, which is a complete and utter bad writing. But i gave myself a chance, i mean, i survived Jack's departure, Abigail's departure, i think i can survive the choice and watch season 9. But then, after staying away from it all, i saw how the producers and writers lashed out against the angered fans. I was even more heartbroken.
I wanted to say, your videos were all awesome, it provided entertainment and solace. I will stop watching the show because i will pretend final episode of season 8 didnt happen. Ahaha and i write the story in my head that she ended up with N, because her character in season 8 was completely unbecoming.
Was hurt when the creator said that Lucas has always been the endgame, but the writing does not reflect that, and the casts had said in multiple interviews that nobody knows of the choice until filming for final episod was done. It was very bad writing. Very poorly managed. I am still so disappointed.

I don't believe Lucas was always the choice,the former showrunner wanted people to root for Nathan and Lucas was introduced as a shady character and they never gave him depth .Now they are trying to create a different narrative for the new storyline.

We Team Nathan was fooled and insulted by the creators for taking all these to heart, this fictional show! I started watching all Season 1 - 5 many times last year and again S 6, 7 which showed total believable chemistry and passion between E & N until the last episode!!!...then went haywire and so unbelievable!!! superficial/no connection between L & E even with their professed love and as her lifetime, didnt gel at all!!

So this show actually means a lot to me, that is why i am super heartbroken that it played out this way. It is not worth it for me to pay that much money. Seriously, the bad writing it has broken my heart. I really dont mind if she wanted to choose L, But make it believable. Make it feasible. They wrote it wrong. It is so sad.
So sad that they toyed with our feelings. Was hoping to see N. And E. together. The chemistry between them seemed very real. N. showed true affection for little Jack. We didn’t see that with L. Greetings E Hoffman: You’re absolutely correct. The bitter, bitter taste Season 8 left was just too much. I too find it difficult to get past the scene in Nathan’s office when Elizabeth wanted him to stay instead of taking the inspector’s job; as well as the Season 7 ending embrace. Those are two main factors why I think there was politics played to keep Krakow the lead actor. I do not believe Bird and Tinker are strong enough to admit big-time mistakes. They would have to fix them. In an interview Jack Wagner gave a puzzled look when explaining Season 8. Not fixing Season 8 could place ALL the real actors’ careers and livelihoods on the line.
Why would they push a Nathan and Faith rebound relationship? That’s just further insult to our intelligence. Faith and Carson’s relationship was so back and forth (do I stay, do I go, will you go with me, no I want to stay in HV, etc). That was exhausting. This is probably why Paul Greene is going with that other show. As for Kevin McGarry, there’s hope. He will be in an upcoming Hallmark trilogy with Lacy Chaubert. That’s where I’ll be.
Also Greetings to you Aurora: Let me see if I can explain myself a bit better. McGarry’s talents are recognized as he will be in an upcoming Hallmark trilogy. I can’t speak for anyone else; but I have waited three years for the Nathan end game. And, not sure why I should be humble. I do not keep coming back for more punishment or to see what I believe will be a Season 9 disaster. I am curious to know what you think will happen to Allie now? She has to see her beloved father mourn in Season 9. Allie has to sit in Elizabeth’s classroom daily to watch and listen to the woman that caused her father so much pain. Do you think Allie will ask Nathan to leave town? There’s a great deal of pain to be repaired in this show.
I have heard that Bird and Tinker did not expect the negative backlash they received from the Season 8 outcome. I do believe Bird and Tinker have only one option to fix this. Season 8 is a nightmare Elizabeth experiences. Unfortunately, I also believe politics will not allow them to fix this.
There’s an old adage, “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me”. The problem with Season 8 is not just with Elizabeth’s romantic choice; or a contest about who gets the girl. It’s about WCTH throwing out truth, trust, logic, family values, morality, fairness, and common decency just for ratings. Let’s not forget the 70% fan base they betrayed.

I don't know what will happen with Allie.Maybe the writers will make her be totally fine with all of this because they don't want her to suffer more,i think they have read enough comments about how Allie was badly treated this season .So she might be a nice and polite girl next season telling Mrs Thornthon that she is happy for her,who knows ?

Well, WCTH already broke up this household. My wife was TL my daughter and I were TN. No way I’m watching next season so I guess my wife will be watching it alone. What a shame, we always looked forward to watching it together on Sunday nights. I don’t think these writers would know chemistry if it came up and slapped them in the face. Bill and Molly. 🤮 And then showing a little tease with Nathan and Faith? 🤮 I agree with everyone else, Nathan really was never given a chance. There was no triangle, it was basically E and L most of the season with little teases tossed at TN cruelly giving us a false hope that he could still be picked. I don’t even watch Hallmark anymore, I can’t even trust their movies anymore.

I can't move on from the last episode, so distasteful what they did to Nathan. It makes me dislike E and L more and more. He always looks like he just wants to jump into bed with E. No love, only lust. He bought her heart and she was foolish enough not to see through him and his sleazy ways. So disappointed in HM and the writers and anyone who made the bad decision. I guess L got his trophy wife, but honestly, Nathan is too good for E and for WCTH.

I think the fans, for the most part, respected Nathan more with each episode. In my eyes they made Nathan the hero and then slapped the hero in the face. It just seemed to add to Team Nathan’s frustration.

I don't understand the reasons they gave for destroying this beautiful relationship.They are talking about longevity of the show but if DL had not left Elisabeth and Jack would still be married and the show will still be there.They are implying that it was a mistake for those two characters to be in a relationship, and in fact starting the show was also a mistake because that relationship was the reason for this show.😑
It seems to me that the new show runner is not inspired enough to write deep storylines for Elisabeth and Nathan and E&L relationship might not be what people will expect because the show has morphed into something else and the feeling of warmth is not there anymore.So when they will finally decide to give a love interest to Nathan, i'm not sure they will write a good love story.
Yes, they (Br Bird) are doing damage control which shows me that they actually did not expect this type of response. They thought people would think that the ending was great and made sense. They are completely out of touch with their main fan base (which by the way is the people that love a good Mountie love story). Let's be honest: the show was never about Elizabeth. It was always about Elizabeth with her Mountie. That's the hard truth TL fans need to realize.
I think they wildly underestimated how fans would feel about this and they don't quite understand how longevity works: it works when people like your show and characters and like the direction it's going- if 70% of Twitter users voted that they thought Nathan would be endgame...that means that the Nathan story made sense to 70% of the Twitter fan base, and probably also 70% of the overall fan base. Even if they did not like him...they thought it would make sense.
30% thought Lucas would make more sense....Do I have to continue to explain what that means?
I will just repeat this: a show keeps running as long as the fans love it. Not as long as "SOME" fans love it.

It was as if they were in a bubble with like minded people and there was no one there to offer a different perspective. The “ I love you but I’m not in love with you” scene tells you all you need to know about how clueless they were. The fact that they wanted Nathan to say “thank you” to Elizabeth as opposed to Elizabeth offering some sort of apology to Nathan for her treatment of him during season 8 shows you just how misguided they were.

I prefer to read the 6 WCTH books by dear Mrs Oke. There is no Chris and no Nathan. So no disappointment. Elizabeth marries Wynn Delaney; then they adopt two children. And the story is great
I think the only reason for Lucas and Nathan was because Jack left the show. It makes more sense to have Elizabeth with Nathan, as he is the Mountie, keeping the story closer to the book series. There could also be 2 adoptions, like the book, in Elizabeth adopting Allie and Nathan adopting baby Jack.
Agree- even if they didn’t want it to be another Mountie…why pick a rich guy that’s never worked for anything in his life and basically bought her love? You can write a better love interest for her than that

That’s why I’m wishing CB comes to Hope Valley. I’m not watching WCTH but might catch it later if CB joins as a love interest for Nathan. BB seems adamant that it’s going to remain L & E. That’s too hard to watch. Unless it becomes N & C. With Cindy as a second school teacher in HV. That would make it bearable and give us the Mountie and teacher love story we wanted. Now that’s wishful thinking. 😏

FYI: I have been looking for the name of the writer of S9 E1 for WCTH. I found the name of Cierra Winkler, assistant writer on WCTHTumblr, pg. 4 from Misella 77. Scroll down, according to Misella 77, and I quote, "What is verifiable is that it looks like JT's assistant Cierra Winkler is part of the writing team." Further down, Misella 77 said: "She was part of all 3 episodes where Elizabeth rejects Nathan. She was very vocal about her love of Lucas and dislike of Nathan on her FB lives. Does not bode well for Nathan on S9 E1 since she wrote it." I think the many disappointed fans should be aware of this information.
Moving forward how many would like to see Nathan get a totally new lady or maybe Fiona if the actors decide they can act together?
C C, I would prefer somebody new for Nathan. The Elizabeth of season 8 was just too self absorbed for my tastes. I’d be ok with Fiona but it might be too difficult for the two actors to work together.
Hard to imagine him with someone else since we’d been rooting for him and Elizabeth. Whoever they choose should have good on screen chemistry and their characters personalities should make sense together. I don’t think Nathan and Faith have chemistry (seemed very forced and way too much like a soap opera) and Nathan and Fiona’s personalities are very different so I think it would seem more natural if there was a great new lady for Nathan.
But even better would be if this whole ridiculous season 8 was a nightmare and Nathan and Elizabeth end up together.
@@1370np Agreed, someone brand new is the best route to take. It won’t be anytime soon because they’re going to want to feature Elizabeth and Lucas for awhile. That’s not something I’m interested in.

Was clear that she loved Nathan!! Unless as one of the PB, ex - producer she decided or recommended Lucas as the new lead!!! Well, as long as we keep this conversation alive, no one will FORGET, what they have done to the real true Epic love story between a Mountie and the Teacher! Ratings will not be same!!
@@ehoffman2260 I’m not sure I agree that Nathan won’t be featured. He has a lot of fans including myself even though I wasn’t a fan of he and Elizabeth. I see Elizabeth as being the lead in her relationship with Lucas. Nathan is also a lead especially being the Mountie. He will get a lot of airtime. The writers know Kevin McGarry is popular. I want him to have a soulmate that puts him first. Preferably not a widow. At this point in Nathan’s life he needs someone who is 100% in to him.
I think Cindy Bugsby would be awesome for Nathan. I’d like to see her come back as a teacher. Since Hope Valley is growing they could bring her in as the 2nd teacher. Then we could have the great love story of the Mountie and teacher. The teacher needs to be somewhat new to the town. I’m not sold in Ned’s daughter.
CB is great but E is perfect for N. For me, this show ended with the finale of season 7.

This is exactly why L and E are not a popular couple..heck they are not even in the top 200 couples on TV right now. L and E have 0 chemistry. They went for shock value and lost almost one million viewers between the ages of 18-34 and thats huge

She said Lucas was the Safe choice in season 10 episode 11 and then Broke up with Him!!!! I don’t think that matters like I already said. WCTH never was about portraying the reality. I liked Lucas when he had some edge back in S6 but ever since then I don’t get the point of his character,…he’s sort of just there and could just as well not have been.
But to answer your question I think there were many different types of saloon owners. I just don’t think that the town teacher would necessarily hang out with him as much but again, WCTH isn’t supposed to be realistic

But if she did have a reaction and I had to guess I’d say she’d be worried about the ending and wondering what made them go against 70% of the fans, just like Erin Krakow was worried. Rewatching the interview you can just tell how tense everybody was about Lucas being the choice: worst executed love triangle goes to WCTH. When you’re worried about how your fans are gonna react it’s probably the wrong choice

To be fair, you could also call Nathan deceitful because he kept the truth about Jack and his real reason for coming to HV from Elizabeth for years. Nathan is far from perfect.

@@margaretyong9198 Respectfully, I’ve never seen Elizabeth more consumed with passion or a love for life and just pure unadulterated joy, than when she is with Lucas and it showed in that kiss and all the kisses after that. She’s finally unafraid and is bold enough to be happy in a way that she has been denying herself for too long.
Forget the bitterness. It’s a show.
Season 9 will bring resolution. They will find the right choice for him. It wasn’t him. Lucas has more in common. The best choice ever.
She has the right to be disappointed,especially when you think about how things played out,calling her bitter is too easy. If Nathan had been chosen,you would be disappointed too and i would have been empathetic for those who wanted a different outcome.But i have noticed that many people that are happy about this season are a bit like Elisabeth was : selfish and cold,they can't understand that there are others who didn't like what they saw and are just shocked.
Besides, what Lucas and Elisabeth have in common are just superficial things : upbringing and books.They don't have an emotional connexion,they haven't share anything deep since they started dating,and Elisabeth never really gave compliments about Lucas's character, something that she likes in him,quite surprising because he is her supposed lifetime love,maybe i'm mistaken but i don't remember.
She should have marry Charles and not Jack if her upbringing was what matters the most to her.
Yes, Team L can't seem to accept that even aa show fiction or not...there are lessons we can learn from wholesome - family honest to goodness storytelling WCTH HAD THAT...till S8 and writers changed direction for fun, for longevity, toying with Fans emotions, devaluing fans loyalty, for more ratings, for a more edgy storylines etc.. Nah..
The moral and real HEART OF THE WCTH STORY is about true love, sacrifices, responsibility, not all material things, stuff, about what is in their HEARTS!! and making a difference in people's lives! Nathan showed that in nany situations!! L was rescued by Nathan in E6...again in S8 beginning oil fiasco! Lucas did all showy stuff to E and town coz he had the $$$ so not hero like IMO.
Show will not ever be the same going forward if MOUNTIE & Teacher is not centerpiece of the storyline ..IMO in a final nutshell!!
@Rose Steg, pls allow us to express our mourning and sadness disappointed selves...its 8 yrs of being fans to this show! Myself only 2 yrs but watched the S 1 to 5 over and over over the past year, not even funny! during the stay at home pandemic isolation AND AM NOT A TV watcher by any means.
Am well educated, traveled a lot, bz socially family n friends and give back to my community as volunteer ..bz life, I have a grateful life! Pls accept that True Heartie FANS of the Original Janette Oke story were vastly affected and so hurt mesirably by the way S 8 panned out.

I disagree. Lucas was the reason. He helped get her book published but Nathan was her lifetime. So much chemistry between E & N. Lucas was a dud.
