I know this video is old by now, but my buddy bought one of those for his 6.0 twin turbo build. I ported his 317 heads, then when I got his manifold, I noticed the flanges needed porting as well to match the runners. I ended up blending the flange to the runner from the plenum. I noticed the aluminum they used is super soft. It wanted to clog my burr, and my cartridge rolls. It seemed like a quality product otherwise. It's like any other manifold; you want to port it before you bolt it on.
Old video but still relevant. I got one of these and had to add a small thin square tube to add mass across the top. It was resonating pretty bad and was amplifying every little sound of the intake. The metal was to thin and vibrating like a speaker. It is well built but they went to cheap on the thickness and should have welded cross members internally.
I had that same intake, and promptly sold it off. It performed WORSE than a factory ls1 intake until around 6000 rpm. It's really pretty, but that's about it. Maybe it would have performed better with forced induction...never found out.
I just bought a,similar intake with a 102 throttle body..it was called a low profile version.its 2 inches taller then a stock ls intake. So I was worried about my hood closing. For my 2nd gen camaro with a lm7 ls swap. Stage 3 cam. The hood was able to shut.but I'm sure I'm right on the throttle body.seems to be the highest point. Waiting for my mechanic to install it with his choice of injectors. Then a tune before I will be able to test it. Can't wait..the intake I bought has a glossy black powder coat.. Looks tough.
I bought one of these off ebay for my LS swapped foxbody and the ad said it's for LS3 rectangular port heads. The one I got is cathedral and when I emailed the seller they said it's a 'hybrid' and it can fit on both applications. That's definitely not the case as it caused so bad of a vacuum leak that it caused my car to start at 4000rpm on my first fire... Almost destroyed my engine. Be careful when buying these. I just bought one from Summit with the correct rectangular heads so hopefully it's a little better.
Im in Aus customer of mine we fitted this manifold yesterday on his L98 6ltr 6l80E on his ve ssv commodore wagon with one of my custom baby cams and it made a extra 17rwhp and 25rwnm torque i was pleasantly surprised..One thing it was a pain to fit 😂...Had to extend (patch loom extension) map sensor, modify valley plate etc but apart from that good result but it is basically winter over here so intake temps (heat soak) were fine but i do think in summer over here (35*c-42*c) will be a different and will suffer over the stock plastic intake
The problem with this manifold is heat soak. Expansion and contraction will cause cracks, this is why brand name companies cast composit manifolds. It really doesn't have enough material to port-match. This looks cool, but doesn't belong as a DD.
This generation comes up with more new words than I can keep up with. As an ASE Master Tech since 1978, carburetors and now throttle bodies have cables that attached to the "Bell Crank". Cam wheels? Of course the spare tire is a doughnut right? LoL
intake runner extensions..... moire torque at lower rpm should be the point. a good flow aid under natural aspiration but as you know...not needed for boosted applications. they seem to have covered design for the best of both worlds. nice job finding these folks andy. i have a question: does the company give specs for total internal chamber volume(would save us podantic old grey beard sorts sorts from having to cc the chamber to find this out:-)? it would help when figuring volumetric transfer/chamber depletion rates?-again,a consideration for naturally aspirated applications...not particularly a concern for boosted applications. seems that things are progressing nicely. thanks for the vids to be able to follow the build. =dok=
I purchased one of these last week and there is no way to contact the company for shipping information. Phone is for of messages and can't leave a message.
And I’m buying one of those 102mm intake and throttle body, will it fit in a c5 bc you know how there’s hardly space in the back of the intake the top wall
Serious question and please excuse my ignorance but I noticed the square ports. Can that still mount to an LQ4 with the cathedral port openings? I personally don't see a problem.
Wonder how the taller version (longer runner) would work on a N/A heads cam 5.3 truck, I know the nnbs intake manifold with 87-92mm throttle bodies are hard to beat from idle to 4-5K rpm though. A lot of aftermarket intake manifolds will give another 15-20hp but have to trade off some down low, which is a no go for daily driver. But that price for everything is amazing lol
BLSdesigns there is a Intake Dyno test done by a big name magazine recently. Best Intake is the Mamo Ported MSD. There is some serious engineering involved with these intakes. I was reading some smart dudes talk about reverb and echo. Blah blah blah something about three reverbs vs four. I really don’t know but it seemed like they did. Seems a few smart folks are trying to bring a highly engineered intake that will be the best. However we all know what worked on paper or SIM doesn’t always work real world.
That looks exactly like a Holley Sniper. I visited the guys site - I don't see a way to contact him. How did you contact him? I want to see if he has any plans to offer a Gen3 hemi intake.
Mike's videos lately have been him doing merch plugs, talking about his latest gripe, going to look at wraps, a few short clips of actually driving or doing something entertaining, then mail time and plugging upcoming events. Rinse and repeat. Out of his 10 plus minute video maybe 2 are content I care to see.
Did you happen to have A issue getting the damn map sensor to go into the back of the intake it’s like the oring is to big it just keeps cutting the oring
I have a 07 yukon Denali L92 I want more power ! I want to get it to 500 flywheel- I’ll be getting a stage 1 cam as this is my family wagon - where can I get this intake ? Will I benefit from this intake
hey ,i got the same set up. what or how did you mount the map sensor on the back of the intake? theres only 1 bolt hole ???? how did you mount the thing
I wonder how much power it makes.......I’m also looking at this one for my trans am.....I don’t got the money for the cam tho yet I wonder if you can use it anyways before cam
Thanks for the video. Messaged them about the setup I'm looking for and details on the rail size. We'll see how it works on a twin turbo 5.3 LM7 swapped into a '73 RS Camaro.
I always comment before watching the video and after commenting and reading all the other comments I have to rewatch the video because I missed it the first time...
Those little Trumpets are what separates a crap intake from a good one. Without them, you lose a lot of flow at high speeds due to turbulence in the runner. The cheap China intakes don't have them.
Looks like a well built manifold. Not too thrilled as to how they ship the throttle body on the end of the box! Damaged returns due to shipping fuckups is going to kill them!
I need someone to send shit to help me with my build I stuck about 12k in to the car this winter and the wifey is pissed cause it's not done and I need another 3200 now
I have one of these on my 403, and can't start the car due to the fuel rails not properly fitting! I've tried 2 sets of rails, same crap! I'm going to give Sharp a chance to make it right, but I can tell you, won't work on current intake!
So you recommend this set up? I wanted a Holley but can't afford it right now but I can order this set up and if is as good as you say its a no brainer@@dozieram
Drew Hayes no problems out of it at all a couple spots where you need to clean burrs from machining but nothing making it worth buying a name brand for double the price lol used the fuel rails and lines it came with too the high ram even fits under my 04 rcsb hood no trimming
For a cheap alternative for a FAST 102, looks awesome! Only thing i would be worried about is the intake being metal MIGHT cause high IAT'S on a hot day or after multiple passes.

G plus is the exact same as fast. Had one on my 02 camaro had zero issues. Better then paying for the name.
I have a question, do you a special type of injectors for this type of intake manifold..
how has it held up?
Still working great!
@@DiabloFormulaRacing wow, thanks for the reply. I think I’ll get this for my 97😃. Tell your son I said good luck, and thanks for serving 🇺🇸
1 thing for certain, he's not gonna lie...
What’s the update on that manifold? Thinking about getting one for my budget build.
Well?
Ls1, ls6, truck intake manifold provide more airflow and do not retain heat. But this aftermarket intake works just fine!
Old video but still relevant.

The Chinese Turbo's are working good so why not the intakes? When are you hoping to have the project started Andy?
the intake runners are too small, ruining the low end torque these engines live and breathe on
those rails are identical to my Holley Sniper rails right down to the packaging. I'm sure they are the exact same product.
Great video man can't wait until the car is done & kicking ass & taking names keep on keeping on man

Is there any dyno data that supports any gains on this intake. Looks sexy!

What happened to the CBR, did that dude eat it?
VMAX1700 its getting wrapped
Andy I have one question with those "budget builds" wouldn't the sheet metal get hotter than normal?
How was the quality? Did it last long? Any problems after installing?

You could hire max to hold the camera, seems that’s the better opportunity he found.

There are very few products not Chinese even name brand expensive turbos intakes etc I would do a boost leak check just to see

Always good to kno they don’t answer
how is it the plenum volume on all these types of modern intakes incl factory ones is so much bigger than the old carburated intakes?
How about a link to purchase??
I was looking at the holley version but this is about the same price, but adds a throttle body, so i may go this route
Do factory injectors work with this, don't understand why they use plastic intakes. Cups are plastic, vibrators are plastic.not intakes!
hm.. ls3 square ports? Do they have any in cathedral ports?

do EV6 injectors fit in that IM?
Do they fit on an f body without hacking the cowl and doing away with the wipers?
Yes...the short runner style does
I don't know I would go with made in America!!!!

that intake looks to be aluminum, not sheet metal ?
