1977 and punk has been around for at least a year if not longer around some places all the way back to the 60s. This song is not particular that HEAVY... it Aint no Blast - Damned Flame from 1973 for example

I still remember where I was the first time I heard this. As a teen I frequented a small heavy metal disco in the English sticks one a fortnightly for a spot of head banging in the mid seventies. When punk went overground in '77 along the room split between those that hated it and us that loved it . This tune got a play and it fucking blew me away and seemed increadibly fast at the time. It was though the perfect bridge between metal and punk. Happy days!
I get that discos used to mean clubs but I just have had bad experiences with disco so even though I see your experience beyond awesome I still won't go to a disco aka club

I bought the Motörhead 12" of this song at Peaches Records (remember them?) in Roseville, Michigan. I was just starting to get into punk. Peaches had just opened and two employees came over asking if I wanted assistance. We spent the next hour together going through the bins, trying out this and that punk band. Then they introduced me to Motörhead and I was floored. This was way before speed metal, stronger than Black Sabbath and I never heard bass guitar played like that before. Bass chords!! And Fast Eddie's guitarwork was so amazing, that I could not believe it was only one guitar (1:20). I spent the next several years buying Motörhead albums imported from Britain because that was the only way I could get them in Detroit until Fast Eddie left the band. Motörhead was never the same. It took two guitarists to replace him. The song "Motorhead" still sounds great today.
