      I'm a Kubi fan. They use aluminum rings on the gloves which seal with an O-ring onto similar rings on the suit. The big advantage is you can suit up and do all the fiddly jobs before putting the gloves on last of all, which is super easy. There is also a normal wrist seal on the suit so you avoid a suit flood if you do tear a glove. I'd say they have made a fantastic difference to comfort and I can now do well over an hour at 40F without the cold being a problem. And we all mess up; with new gear I just set up a routine to avoid the mess ups and, when they do happen, keep a sense of humour. Love the underwater shots; I can't wait to be back in the ocean!

      @@timgosling6189 Oh yes, I'm all about the routine. It takes a few goes to get it set after adding new gear. Thanks for the info on Kubi rings. They're a great option, but I'm very happy with the DUI gloves I got.

    Glove wise ultima twist is the way to go. That way glove alignment is not an issue.
    Also you deal with your keys and other equipment while gloves are off... Then you click them on as last thing before you go into the water.

    I found it is easier when lining your gloves to your drysuit. Put your drysuit on then your gloves on and use a marker or chalk to mark your line to clock your gloves to your drysuit then take everything off and assemble everything together. Personally, 90% of my diving is cold water and I found the twist lock gloves more user friendly. It keeps your hands free until you put your gloves on at the end and I can switch from gloves to mittens pending on the dive. Love the channel and the places you dive!!

    You might be clumsy out of the water but are true poetry under, where it counts. I dove dry for 15 years before moving to MX and used DUI dry gloves that popped on and off at the cuff using an o ring. They worked awsome, not sure if they still make them. Another great video. 👍

    Hey Sarah, a few tips on the DUI dry gloves.
    Use soapy water to "lubricate" the seal when you assemble any zip seal system. Gloves, neck/wrist seal. It really makes a major difference.
    For the alignment part. You need to align the "seam" on the glove and the sleeve. And they get perfectly aligned 👍👍

    Do you happen to know if the salinity of the water where you were diving is high? The water quality in kelp forest seems to look different … is that even a thing? Changes in ocean water salinity? If so, does it impact scuba 🤿 dive?

    • @AzulUnlimited
      @AzulUnlimited  Год назад

      There are definitely changes in salinity around the world, but as far as I know, there’s not much of a change at the islands vs the mainland shore. The clarity is now due to the fact that kelp helps decrease water movement which keeps sediment down

    As you know I use the Kubi dry glove system.
    The biggest benefit is that your normal whristseal stays on the suit, so of you puncture your dryglove your suit won’t flood, that’s something you never want to experience (I did 🥶)
    The Kubi system gives you the freedom of chosing the type of outher glove you like, from very thin to very thick.
    Putting on the suit, harnas or backmount set is also easier without gloves on. I always put on my liners and drygloves at last, just before jumping into the water 😊💦
    Just something to consider
    But I can understand the Kubi system is not ideal or compatibel with the DUI zipseal system

    • @TheMarcoflint
      @TheMarcoflint Год назад +1

      Nah it's perfectly adaptable with DUI zip seal. Just a little tricky 😅
      Though because you need a channel to let the gas travel in and out of the gloves. If you puncture the glove it will definitely flood your suit. Hopefully a little slower than if you have no seal at all 🙄 but it won't prevent a flood if you stay long enough...
      Though I agree with you... The KUBI systems is so much better... And when you damage the gloves so much cheaper to replace the gloves (about 5$/pair)
      And I really like the ability to put on the gloves last instead of first... And between dives... Trying to eat a snack with DUI gloves is doable but gosh it's a pain 🤣

    • @EricBovelander
      @EricBovelander Год назад

      @@TheMarcoflint I use small tubes under my latex whristseals, I have tried to push those into the arm of my drysuit in case of a ruptured glove, and it worked with a little struggle
      The tubes I use are 6mm made of plastic, they cannot get compressed but you feel them al the time during your dive, not everyone likes that. For me its just a safety issue because diving in cold waters below 10 celsius has enough other challenges ❄️😜

    • @EricBovelander
      @EricBovelander Год назад

      @@TheMarcoflint you are totaly right about the Kubi system, you can use very thin gloves like those for doing the dishes up to the thick ones from Santi (what I use)

    • @TheMarcoflint
      @TheMarcoflint Год назад +1

      @@EricBovelander interesting I never thought you could do that 😅
      I usually use the undergarment to break the seal. But that would be a lot harder to push back (probably impossible 😅)
      Now you need to have reallllly long extended deco for this to become a problem because even in ice water you wouldn't get cold that fast unless you rip apart the glove 😅

    Get cold easily, huh? So I’m assuming a 70 minute dive in 40F water is out then! No worries! Try a heated vest/shirt. As to dry gloves, we use Kubi rings, which make life much easier than the zip gloves. One ring mounts on a standard zip seal. The other ring mounts on the glove. After you have your dry suit, hood, and bcd on, the glove ring just presses into the seal ring, using an o-ring to make a water tight seal. A bit on the pricey side, at $250 for a set, but when you consider that a DUI dry suit can cost $4,000 or more, what’s another $250 to make life easier? We had a great time in Bonaire last month, but now it’s back to our normal diving environments up here in the Great Lakes…cold water, lots of sand, and wreck diving all summer! That orange fish kept trying to steal the shot of whatever kind of shark that looked to be in the rock! Love the content! One day we’ll make it out west to dive!

    Was "equipment maintenance and repair" not a part of your leadership development process?
    The whole "DUI dry gloves being directly attached to the suit" is exactly why I hate the way DUI makes their suits and gloves. I much rather prefer the ability to add my dry gloves after I'm dressed via a ring system of some type. I also must have double wrist protection. As in always having wrist seals, even with dry gloves. I use Ansell gloves (extremely rarely do I ever use the Showa gloves--the Showa 660's are those ever-so-popular blue ones you talked about), which are super thin (probably thinner than your DUI gloves here), yet super stretchy and super tough (I've yet to tear or puncture a pair). However, in the event that I ever did tear through a pair of gloves, without wrist seals, my whole suit would flood. So double protection is a must. Additionally, even without fleece glove liners, my hands are still warm using these thin dry gloves in water down to about 15 deg C. After that, I wear fleece gloves underneath.
