- Over 35,000 people in New Zealand's capital marched to Parliament on November 19, protesting against a proposed law that seeks to redefine the Treaty of Waitangi, a document central to the relationship between Maori tribes and the British Crown. The bill has sparked widespread opposition, with critics arguing it could undermine Indigenous rights and breach historical promises. Watch the video for more information.

I don't think you can answer that can you?
@rick-the-anglo-saxon you assume too much. Crown reps were not given full power to govern, this would mean article 2 is null invoid. Principle 2 suggests iwi rights only matter through Treaty settlements, article 2 says it protects the authority of Māori chiefs and their right to self-determination over their lands, forests, fisheries, and other taonga, or treasures, where does this say it say within Treaty settlements, equal rights and protection were afford to māori not everyone as per principle 3, people of nz at the time of signing were iwi not those who followed, article 1 covers that. Now you tell me where do the principles in the bill align with Te Tiriti O Waitangi, not the Treaty. The te reo version is the standing document under contra proferentum 🤔

"theplatform, kiwi" interviewed some of the protester, it was clear that few had read the Treaty, or David Seymour's bill. They were there because Labour party and The Maori Party leaders had told them that the bill would deny them rights given under the Treaty. In fact, the bill seeks to restore equal rights to all New Zealanders as guaranteed by the Treaty. They had been lied to because Maori leaders have been riding the gravy train of victimhood and reparations for decades, and this bill will derail it. The protesters didn't understand it, but this is all about power and money.
