  • Over 35,000 people in New Zealand's capital marched to Parliament on November 19, protesting against a proposed law that seeks to redefine the Treaty of Waitangi, a document central to the relationship between Maori tribes and the British Crown. The bill has sparked widespread opposition, with critics arguing it could undermine Indigenous rights and breach historical promises. Watch the video for more information.

1835 He Whakaputanga' a document of Maori sovereignty acknowledged by Queen Victoria
1840 The British crown initiates a treaty in English known as the Treaty of Waitangi signed by very few Maori chiefs that were threatened with violence and land confiscation. In that version it states Maori ceded sovereignty. The Maori translation known as Te Tiriti o Waitangi and written up by the church was signed by over 500 Maori chiefs and in it Maori did not cede sovereignty and guarantees Maori full autonomy and other rights. At that time Maori did not understand the English language. Interestingly the NZ government is a member of the UN and under international law set out by the UN when a treaty is in two languages it is the Indigenous translation the takes precedence over the coloniser version. This brings us to David Seymour and his political party ACT in association with the Gibbs family of NZ and linked to the ATLAS network. David Seymour in his capacity as a minister for the crown introduces the treaty principles bill (conflict of interest much?) to try and unilaterally change the meaning of the Maori translation while ignoring expert advice, the church leaders and Maori who have spoken against his flawed bill. David has yet to name the expert linguists specialising in the Maori language and experts in NZ history he used in his divisive and flawed bill. He's a yappy guy but door mouse quiet on this issue lol.
Maori once had the majority and still weren't allowed to rule and now Maori are outnumbered 5 to 1 they are weaponising democracy against Maori. Even after 184 years of the many Te Tiriti breaches such as Parihaka a peaceful resistance and destroyed by the crown, child abuse in state care and those children that are now adults make up 80 to 90% of the gang members Maori are still saying 'honout Te Tiriti".

"theplatform, kiwi" interviewed some of the protester, it was clear that few had read the Treaty, or David Seymour's bill. They were there because Labour party and The Maori Party leaders had told them that the bill would deny them rights given under the Treaty. In fact, the bill seeks to restore equal rights to all New Zealanders as guaranteed by the Treaty. They had been lied to because Maori leaders have been riding the gravy train of victimhood and reparations for decades, and this bill will derail it. The protesters didn't understand it, but this is all about power and money.

No they didn't. Sovereighty & Governance apply to territory; not people. So you're talking nonsense. If what you are saying was right then some maori (who you have not identifed) has sovereingty over some other maori who was born in Australia.. which is impossible.
New Zealanders who identify with maori ethnicity have the same rights to their lands and the resources on their land as anyone else as per the English law since forever; and confirmed in the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi; and enacted in Magna Carta and the 1688 Bill of Rights.
Futhermore, you can't pick and choose. If you don't want New Zealand's racist pakeha law, then your welfare payments are gone, you're off the electoral role and can't receive any further public services (all of which are creatures of law.)
Have a rest now.. and let all that sink in.
