I currently have an Apex 19, Apex 16, and Apex 13 on my freshwater pontoon which I use while trolling for Stripers on inland lakes. I did come from the Solix units and can say that the Apex is a great freshwater unit as well. The higher resolution really works great with my Mega 360 and SI+ imaging... even more than Mega Live. I do run these 3 Apex units, along with an Ulterra Quest and Mega Live, networked through the dual ethernet ports on the Apex units, without the 5 port switch. The ports on the Apex are Gigabit ports and provide excellent network throughput.
Also, you did briefly mention the HDMI ports on the Apex and the Apex units are the only units in the Humminbird line with this capability. The HDMI Out port work great for creating excellent video captures directly from the unit at full HD resolution... no screen glares and reflections. The HDMI In port can also be used to display the content of external devices, like the Aqua-Vu underwater camera, on the Apex screen in full screen or 1/4 screen mode along with all your other imaging technologies.
I want to do exactly what you described with the Apex for inland lakes in the upper midwest.. I am curious if this network wiring is diagrammed anywhere that you know of.. Can you suggest a source?
@pbohannon1929 I'm not really aware of any networking diagrams specifically for the dual ports on the Apex. Humminbird has a 5 port switch and that is what most have to use.
Basically, you daisy chain the Apex units to each other, and then the first and last Apex unit will have an extra port free for things like Mega Live and Minn Kota "Link" trolling motor connections.
Love your videos I’m learning a lot.
Good video. Do a video on screen image on Apex vs. Solix.
The Solex has a fully grounded transducer. That means there is a separate ground for each of the different functions in the transducer whereas the helix has a single ground. Having each one grounded separately adds up to a better image.
Brilliant you answered my question in that video which was, is the apex faster than the solix g2 and g3. Yes it is i even noticed how much faster it is compared to my g2 solix 👍
You forgot 2 things in comparison of Helix and Solix/Apex:
1. Helix has no options to review the history of side-scan or down-scan.
2. Helix has no ability to make on-line (on-the-water) mosaic - structure map.
No mention of the power consumption between the units? I run Solix's and I love them.
How is the power consumption on the solix for you? I am running 2 15 solix and 1 12 solix with live / tg lock and 360. I can’t stay in the 12v range for more then 3 hours. C clear power harness, dedicated run for live. 2 group 31 interstates in parallel.

C clear power harness, dedicated run for live. 2 group 31 interstates in parallel. Still have issues. Voltage drop to bow area and never see 13.1V like others I have heard.
Please refer to our DEDICATED POWER video. You should be able to run all day with no issues.
Helix is smaller screen so it doesn't need as many pixle to create the same image
interesting
