    I have a helix 7 DI G3N connected to my Terrova I pilot Link at the bow and want to network it to a helix 7 SI G3N at the console. Do i still need the 5 port switch if i dont care about running the motor from the console unit? I just want to be able to share waypoints between the two locators and see side imaging at the bow. If you do not want to network the trolling motor you can connect the two units via ethernet cable/dongles.

Just to be sure I'm getting this right, all I need is the Humminbird ethernet cord and 2 adapters to connect my console Helix 9 to a bow helix 7 but I wouldn't need another transducer bc I could just pull the info from the console helix 9 screen/transducer and project it to the bow helix 7, correct? I have the Helix 10 G2 with all the features and if i understood you correctly, i can network from my Helix 10 to my other helix and have all the same features on the bow unit from my Helix 10 at the counsel unit? without purchasing another unit wit all the same features as my Helix 10 at the counsel?

    • @B-DINO
      @B-DINO 3 месяца назад

      No, you can not. You can only network with a device with the "N" in the number. So you have a "G2", but it would have to be a "G2N", "G3N", or "G4N" unit in order to network them. Sorry, I hope you didn't try to go through everything, purchase another device, snd run cables before figuring that out.

      No, it would not work. You need a device that has the "N" in the number. You have a "G2", you'd need a "G2N" to network it.

    Question on adding 3 Humminbird Helix G4N units to my boat and networking them. Do I need to purchase all three control units with the SI option in order for the SI screen/info to be displayed on all of the units or will the one control unit with SI and the included transducer supply the SI screen and info to the other control units if I use DI units and network them all together? • @B-DINO
      @B-DINO 3 месяца назад

      No, you wouldn't technically but there's pros to having both still. If you have a transducer on the trolling motor at the bow then the data showing on your screen is what's directly below you if you're trolling...if you have a stern-mounted transducer the data showing on your screen will be what's behind the boat that you've already trolled over if you're trolling forward.

    In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

    If i have a VX Lakemaster card will I be able to view that map on the other unit as well when hooked up to the network? Nobody has answered that question anywhere online

    • @TNAROHfan
      @TNAROHfan Месяц назад +1

      According to Humminbird rep, yes you can as long as basemaps and the VX are up to date on both units. I can't verify that because is just have the old Lakemaster right now, but I specifically asked this question because that is a future project I want to do and don't want to pay for 2 cards. I believe they have to be 4th generation though.

      @@TNAROHfan 10-4, thank you! Both my units are G4N units. I just haven't got around to installing the second one yet. If I find out differently then I'll let you know.

    Thank You for the video. I am doing a major upgrade....Fortrex to Ultrex w/ Si and Di transducer, Adding Mega 360, and asap Live view. Replacing 898 SI And 859 DI with Solix 10 Mega + Si, Di CHO - bow and Solix 12 Mega Si DI + - Console. I'll be mounting the transducer on the stern. Hoping to use existing AS GR50 GPS with the Humminbird AS-GPS-NMEA Adapter Cable - 720080-1. I assume I will have to get the Humminbird AS ETH 5PXG 5 Port Ethernet Switch along with the cables to reach each device (Ultrex I Pilot, Mega 360, Live View and my two Solix Units. Is that the best way in your opinion or maybe the only way? Also wanted to get some opinions on the old 898...should. I move it to the bow for more options with DI or SI? Can you guys package all and offer some discount?

      Just saw your Trade in comment. I'll have the Fortrex, and possibly two units. Have you any suggestions on my console mount...I have a Gimbal off to the right now. Unfortunately my 2011 Skeeter zx doesn't have room on dash without covering gauges...which I am not totally against. LOL Any good options you familiar with...besides the 2021 Model!!

    My ultrex has ipilot link and 2d sonar. How would I connect that and my transducer on the back of my boat to 1 single hummingbird bird unit?

      If the link doesn’t go directly to the 5 port switch, you’ll probably need the 30’ extension cable as ecx 30, another $80 or $90 bucks.

    Can anyone answer: If I buy two Helix 7 units and network them, will I need one lakemaster chip that will work for both or will I need one for each unit?

    • @philswenson8291

      You need a map for each unit. Helix units don't share maps.

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing 4 года назад +1

      Yes as long as the 5" is a networking unit. A networking gen 2 would be described as a G2N.

    • @philswenson8291
      @philswenson8291 3 года назад +1

      I don't believe the 5 has network capabilities. The smallest screen size that is would be a 7.

    Thank you for the explanation! This may be a really stupid question but, do you need another transducer for the front head unit or can it be run as a mirrored device?

    • @BehindTheReelFishing
      @BehindTheReelFishing 3 года назад +1

      I would recommend running a transducer at the bow as well as the console but you can mirror the console unit at the bow if you prefer
