For westeners, everything starts with ancient greeks including rhe world was round. They forget there existed great civilizations before the greeks from the babylons to persians to indians ans the chinese each having thought of round earth, zero, so called pythogoreas theorem and so many other things the greeks borrowed later after conquests and trade. In fact the book aeosops fables was written in india at least 300 years before the greeks during the time of buddha.

He named a discovered island Cuba what is a place in Portugal. Very strange for an Italian sailing for Spain to choose a name what is situated in Portugal. When he returns his first stop is Lisbon where he stayed for a week before returning to Spain. Very strange.
A son of a laborer with no aristocrastic background has a audience with 2 kings, what is impossible in that time AND marry a Portuguese nobel woman. Very strange.

Please do some more reading before presenting. There is a awful lot of controversy about who he was. Appears that he was really Spanish since is native language was Spanish, and quite probably Jewish

He had to backtrack real quick about some of his ideas: his sponsor, Isabella, she got pretty ticked with his idea to enslave the locals at one point from what I heard. And rightly so at that; if indeed he got that notion in his head.

    • @chimb9627

He never suggested that. He suggested the monarchy ruled them like any other Spanish subject. (Which wasnt a nice way to live at the time but didnt involve the buying, or torture of natives like yall like to lie about)

@@chimb9627 I'm with you on that claim you just made, Chimb, in addition, the Amerindians sure did engage in slavery, as well as cannibalism in several cases, and, while warfare was used to conquer the Aztecs, let us not forget that warfare is the lifestyle of a soldier- so it is expected. And we mustn't forget that the Aztecs were the aggressors overall in the methods; the only times the Spaniards attacked was that they had found out that the Aztecs were planning on assaulting and massacring them.

It is a bit weird that she draws a line to Cuba, when consensus is he made landfall at Hispaniola. Also, Genovese is more conventional than Genoese, but I am nitpicking because I have to watch this for a professional development class.

"Maybe" converting people to Christianity. You don't get to talk about history with "maybe" and your political agenda. Very poor video of history. Sad, really. She circled Sweden talking about Norway. Zero credibility.
