I thought,🤦🏼♀️ “Luke, it’s best not to tell the woman who labored, bore you, & raised you that she can’t reveal your age. You do realize you live today because of your Mom, right?” Frankly, it’s probably best not to tell your Mom what she cannot do, period. 🤣 Also, like to cast my vote for option B. 😊
Luke, I vote B and like "Quackers Tributary" - one should never doubt one's mother's advice, especially your mum's! Lady Sandwich is the hidden jewel of Mapperton. She really needs her own channel. I love her stories!
Option B all the way.......safer for pets and wild critters but still accessible. A very pretty, serene area and the troll bridge to view the pond would be great!!! Your mom is a character.....such fun. Love her knowledge about the estate.
Luke, go with option B! Your mum has the mind of a gardener, and has the vision of how the pond should appear. Also, it will make her happy. Remember, it is said, “If Mamma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!”
I so enjoy Caroline, Countess of Sandwich whenever we have the chance to enjoy her company, she has so much Knowledge of the Family and the Estate. She IS her own woman. “I can and I have!”
I enjoy seeing Luke and his mother together. They have a wonderful interaction. Very English. The gardens around the house are beautiful! Thanks for the video.
We had an elderly neighbor who fed seagulls in her front yard (we're an hour away from the ocean, go figure). What started as a small flock grew so huge that they blocked the busy roadway in front of her home. Motorists complained & the city forced her to stop. The birds just disappeared.
Saw so many different parts of your lovely estate....i have an idea......make a lovely fold out map of the whole estate so we can purchase and follow along and see where you are while we watch. Also, cotton tea towels with mapperton on it would be great for your merch shop.
I believe that Luke is in his element trying to solve Mapperton’s outdoor issues. I enjoy seeing his enthusiasm and feel badly for his frustrations. Thank you for this very newsy post!
Quakers was in the USA news before we found out on your show. Poor Quakers. He was so cherished and had a geeat life but still so startling and upsetting. Love the conservatory and pond idea!!!
So sad about Quackers but I think he would like Option B. Other ducks would like the sunshine and openness. We have Canadian geese in the creek nearby and they love it there. They come every summer. It is a green space with room for beavers, otters and ducks. It’s a beautiful walk with benches placed along the way.
We have 3 families of Canadian Geese in a park close to our home. They stock the pond with fish every year and it’s a beautiful spot to walk your dog. The only problem is my Corgi eats goose $hi+. I’m concerned she’s going to sprout wings and see her fly over to feed on a farmer field for wheat. 😂
My family lived out in the country and we took care of ducks and geese and skunk family and raccoons and feral cats and a mountain lion and yes even a bear and peacocks and other animals lol. Even humans in need. I now live in town and I still have wildlife that comes and stays on my porch a doe and her babies and others. I've always had a way with animals. Love and blessings from Wyoming USA Robbie McVay and Sasha and mocha mcvay
I think Quackers would like opt. B. I LOVE YOUR CONSERVATION EFFORTS! It still just boggles the mind how this person treated you all: esp.Quackers. All my thoughts to all at Mapperton. Carol
I’ve never clicked on one of your videos so fast! I just can’t imagine how a pet owner could murder another animal like that. You’re spot on, Julie-it’s shocking, and I’m still shocked someone would do that and not come forward. Especially if it’s been clear charges won’t be filed against them. Edit: I like Luke’s mom’s pond idea. I think that bridge nearby would be a great visual lead up to the memorial pond. It gives space for contemplation, and I definitely got a sense of serenity from that area. I’d definitely put it on my bucket list to visit, and I hadn’t honestly contemplated too much outside my own ancient ancestry there (from before they moved over here to the “colonies” and started intermarrying with Native Americans; I’m directly descended from Malcolm III of Scotland, the first governor of “Virginia,” and 3 Native Nations incl 2 tribal chiefs).
You Mappertons are quite funny and being from the US, any reason to laugh currently is appreciated. My experience with beavers is “!pick the place you’d least like then and that’s where they go naturally!?!”
"I can and I have!" Luke, your mother, the countess, is fabulous! I love her humour and appreciate her knowledge and sense of adventure. I definitely like option B. I think it would attract ducks and be a great place to sit and observe in quiet and a sense of the past. I always enjoy Luke's explorations and explanations of the land and its problems, they add a lot of interest and beauty. Thank you for this lovely episode.❤
I agree with Julie. They should have been given a chance to take Quackers to the vet. I don’t blame the dog. This is all on the irresponsible duck murderer. Love and comfort to you all from NJ🫶😘
What a wonderful idea; option B sounds perfect 😍 There’s a slightly sinister concern that Quacker’s killer could be watching this vlog! If you are - own it and apologise to the family.
OptB. What a pleasure to see you out walking with your mother. I hope your father is still doing well. I think “on golden Pond “would be a beautiful addition to your area. I hope you get the beavers active again.
There is a HUGE stone troll under a bridge in Seattle. It's called The Fremont Troll. You should put a troll under a bridge near where the children of your guests regularly visit. If there isn't a bridge, you should build one, just so you can put a troll under it. lol. (I comment as I watch your video) I think putting the pond in Option B by that bridge would be a great idea ... then you can finally have your troll there. Of course you'll have to put some faeries in the trees and gnome houses at the base of the trees.
Poor Quackers. The story is tragic in several ways but the way it's taken on a life of its own is kind of comical. I always love to see Caroline (and John, too!).
Definitely Option B! I am VERY impressed with the work you guys have done on the stream and the pond. An awful amount of work to do, yet it looks splendid. This was a terrific episode. I enjoyed it so much. Thank you!
I love it when you go out into the estate, it is so beautiful and peaceful and I just imagine myself walking along side of you guys. Thank you for sharing your estate with us.
Hi Luke and Julie, I have to go with plan B. Not because Luke's Mum told us to do so (Although, maybe), Lol... But I happen to agree with the lady, it is far more interesting on the eye. It would also be rather nice to see the overgrown path come back to life. I have to say, Luke... Your Mum is a real trooper and very witty. So much work has been done to restore the Beaver pond, really starting to take shape again. Good luck with that. x
I vote Option B... certainly would be a lovely quiet reflective location, with that bridge already there... A lovely viewing area for those who visit it
Viscount looks like Option B is a winner! Thank you both for another most wonderful episode and it is great to see that the flood damage especially to the Beaver dam is in the progress of being repaired, will be great to see the Beavers back home again at the Mapperton Estate. Thank you both, be safe and God Bless. 🤩👍😇🙏🏰
The conservatory!!! Stunning. My lungs feel clearer all the way in the United States having just seen all the exquisite foliage. ❤️ # Quakersremembered ☮️ 💕 You’re passion for history and family and future is just lovely. I have said many ugly very unsophisticated words about the brutality against sweet Quackers. Adoration for your dedication.😊❤
Option B. But how far is it for visitors to get there? Reasonable walking distance from the entrance even in poor weather? Love you mum! She just tells it like it is! Luke may not like it all the time but you sure tell there is much love ❤️ in your family. 👍🏻👏🏻😁
@@ellenanthony8017 visitors need to come and see Mapperton to keep it going for future generations. I’m sure Quacker would be very pleased if that happened. I also know if they are going to build a pond in his honor it will be the best ever and water creature will come from all over to see it! Quack quack! Yeah Quacker!! 🦆👍🏻😃👏🏻
Option B! A 6 K run and then a festivity. Bring in food trucks, have games for the kiddies, music, make it a traditional Quaker Day of celebrating all things duck!
Mother knows best- my vote is for the second site near the troll bridge. Also, I second the fun run idea, and, perhaps, duck-themed merch to help raise funds for the pond. Hic jacet Quackers. Lovely to know that beavers are coming back to Mapperton, too.
I’m still so sad for Quackers😢. The new pond in Q’s memory is going to be lovely. I have a feeling that the Countess has already won this dilemma. We’re having the opposite problem with beavers. We kind of wish they’d move away. We’re in a suburban neighborhood that has been certified as a wildlife sanctuary in Colorado, near Denver. The beavers have been busy taking down trees. We just had five of our trees wrapped in wire fencing to protect them. It’s not pretty, but so far effective. ❤
The pond needs to be where there are no trees or that are far enough away that leaves wouldn't fall into it or block the view from above. A pond could stop the creek from flowing if the water is low
Without a doubt, I concur with Lady Sandwich that location B would be the most desirable. Perhaps you might consider the name “Quackerton Pond” suitable? I suspect the two remaining ducks would feel the loss of Quackers. I hope they will have new duck friends, soon. ❤ Love, good health and blessings to all at Mapperton.
I agree with the Countess, option B can more easily be made a more open pond to attract wild ducks. It will also be important to let visitors know to not feed the wild ducks. Bread is terrible for them. Thrilled to hear beavers will be coming back once again.
Enjoyed this episode about possible ponds to commemorate Quackers ( vote for option B) and the repair of the beaver’s pond! Also enjoy Luke and his mother!
Your estate takes my breath away. From San Francisco I’m going to come visit next year and I can’t wait. Still so upset about the beautiful duck. Who on earth could do such a thing. Quackers has indeed become famous rest its sole! Such a sweet idea the pond in memory. Warms my heart Julie.
Option B, please. I think it would be beautiful to be on the bridge and watch the ducks. Maybe a log bench to watch the wild ducks from a respectful distance. 🪿🪿🪿🦆🦆🦆
I'm team option B. Great location for migrating ducks and other wildlife! Best of luck with the project, very exciting, and a fitting tribute to poor Quackers!
Have a 6K "Duck" run in memory of Quackers the Runner Duck....to benefit the new pond!
Oh! That’s a great idea! For local school kids and teens who love to run! Or everybody and community picnic!
@@28105wskinggreat idea. Many possibilities with that.
Fabulous idea!!
Great idea. Since Mapperton has a kids play area now they should consider including a 1-mile fun run/walk for the little ones.
Yeah, that might be a good idea. Julie, I'm really impressed you have the energy run 6k and do everything else you do everyday. Kudos!
I hope the lady that did this watches your show and sees all this. I don’t know how she can live with herself.
Breaks my heart about Quackers😢
How about a Quackers statue in the center of the pond???
You should have Luke’s Mom on more often. She’s a hoot. I vote pond option B.
I agree, 100% with both of those statements!
Option B for everyone but especially for your lovely Mum.
I was just going to say option B.
"I can and I did". Don't you just love interaction between mum and grown son😅❤
My son and I share a harmonious love of the natural world. I am glad they do as well.
Luke’s mum always makes me laugh!!
Luke, I vote B and like "Quackers Tributary" - one should never doubt one's mother's advice, especially your mum's! Lady Sandwich is the hidden jewel of Mapperton. She really needs her own channel. I love her stories!
Option B!
Quakers Tributary was the best phrase. I love the countess when she is on the videos
Mum knows best. A true countrywoman. Option B is perfect. Wherever the beavers are, they are having a great adventure.
Option B for the duck pond looks like the best idea.
Option B would be the perfect place to have a pond.
Thank you for saying that as it's so true.
I so enjoy Caroline, Countess of Sandwich whenever we have the chance to enjoy her company, she has so much Knowledge of the Family and the Estate. She IS her own woman. “I can and I have!”
The Countess is amazing, Option B of coutse
A pond is a great idea Julie. Quackers is missed I know and maybe this awareness will keep other animals safer. ❤
I hope so!
The legend of Quackers will live on.
I enjoy seeing Luke and his mother together. They have a wonderful interaction. Very English. The gardens around the house are beautiful! Thanks for the video.
RIP Quackers! 😢
🙏💙
From Buffalo, NY USA
My Mom feeds ducks, geese etc in front of her home. So this story broke my heart.
We had an elderly neighbor who fed seagulls in her front yard (we're an hour away from the ocean, go figure). What started as a small flock grew so huge that they blocked the busy roadway in front of her home. Motorists complained & the city forced her to stop. The birds just disappeared.
Most definitely, option B🙏🙏 Mapperton is so beautiful...you are very fortunate to live there🥰 I'm so sorry you lost poor Quackers.😔
Saw so many different parts of your lovely estate....i have an idea......make a lovely fold out map of the whole estate so we can purchase and follow along and see where you are while we watch. Also, cotton tea towels with mapperton on it would be great for your merch shop.
This is a fantastic idea
Lovely idea!!
I would love a tea towel with the full castle!
I quite like the map idea! That's brilliant! 👏
And then maybe Quackers on a tea towel.
I believe that Luke is in his element trying to solve Mapperton’s outdoor issues. I enjoy seeing his enthusiasm and feel badly for his frustrations.
Thank you for this very newsy post!
How wonderful to build/create alone in Quackers memory for other water foul to enjoy.
Option B!
Both locales would be lovely, although I believe your mom's first choice (option 'B') is brilliant.
Quackers would love the pond your building in his memory.
Definitely option B because Luke’s Mother knows what she is talking about.
I do like option B best; with the troll bridge you have a great vantage point without disturbing any wildlife.
As a long time geese and duck owner Most definitely option B
Option B, it just makes more sense. Luke’s Mum knows best! ❤
It's appalling this happened but the fact she hid this and walked away is just unreal!!
Quakers was in the USA news before we found out on your show. Poor Quakers. He was so cherished and had a geeat life but still so startling and upsetting. Love the conservatory and pond idea!!!

The next time you get beavers, you should put chips in them so you can locate them if they get out. Beavers like deep ponds
I love how kindly Luke talks with his mom.
Shes so knowledgeable about the garden.
I vote for plan B
Option B please! As we know in the states right now, every vote counts! 👍🙏
I think Quackers would like opt. B. I LOVE YOUR CONSERVATION EFFORTS! It still just boggles the mind how this person treated you all: esp.Quackers. All my thoughts to all at Mapperton. Carol

Sorry for the loss of your duck. I know you loved him. He is with Jesus now.I think animals go to heaven. God bless you.

Good afternoon everyone 👋❤️🇨🇦
Definitely Option B! I am VERY impressed with the work you guys have done on the stream and the pond. An awful amount of work to do, yet it looks splendid. This was a terrific episode. I enjoyed it so much. Thank you!
RIP Quackers 😢 I love your Black Lab ❤🐾
Hi Luke and Julie, for me is option B more possible. Maybe a (sandstone) model of Quackers coukld stand near the pond.
I donated yesterday Xx I hope one day I can come see the property all the way from Australia 🇦🇺
I'm watching again. Positively excited about the pond in the works. ❤
I love it when you go out into the estate, it is so beautiful and peaceful and I just imagine myself walking along side of you guys. Thank you for sharing your estate with us.

Love how you can turn and run from rain (giggle). Like Mom’s Option B Please! Well done Luke, interesting Beaver tell trail and dam.
Option B for sure I agree with mum. Also I loved that walk around the grounds with Luke and his mum! ❤❤❤❤
Sending you some Sunny Southern California sun shine! Love your videos! Stay warm!
Option B. But how far is it for visitors to get there? Reasonable walking distance from the entrance even in poor weather? Love you mum! She just tells it like it is! Luke may not like it all the time but you sure tell there is much love ❤️ in your family. 👍🏻👏🏻😁
Visitors don't need to see everything. If this duck pond can be a safe haven where visitors never come, the ghost of Quakers would be much happier.

Option B looks like a perfect location. Also, I love watching Luke and his mom. You have such a lovely relationship. 😊
Option B it will look amazing ❤
From tragedy comes triumph... a terrific, and fitting, example of British perseverance!
Option B would be very nice. The wild ducks will enjoy the size and peace.
Always a joy to see Momma Montagu! Option B seems wildlife-friendly and evocative of a perfect memorial setting.
It's just so sad and shocking.. Good luck with the pond ❤
I agree with the Countess, option B can more easily be made a more open pond to attract wild ducks. It will also be important to let visitors know to not feed the wild ducks. Bread is terrible for them. Thrilled to hear beavers will be coming back once again.
this is so special to view. wonderull love

thank you for sharing...including Luke [and Chris'] adventure(s)...
Luke, resistance is futile, as the Countess said.....Option B 💜
Luke, I have to say I agree with your lady mother. I do indeed prefer Option B. The wilder looking situation would attract more wild waterfowl.
