To the people commenting about this older footage, Luke and Julie did put out a video stating that they would be rotating in older footage that has been lengthened for new viewers. They have quite a large number of video's, and for new viewers this kinda link's thing's together from past, yet still current project's going on at Mapperton. This beaver dilemma is still something they are trying to make work since the beavers made their escape. I hope that people will now understand why they have been putting out these older bits. I always enjoy seeing the kid's, because they are getting older, and it's nice to see them, and her son sure looks a lot like her, a handsome young man, who seems interested in the animal's, and other thing's going on at the estate. At some point, one or more of the children will become the caretaker of this lovely place, so having them show interest is good, and that one of them will decide to carry on the family legacy of keeping Mapperton running, and part of the family. G-d bless everyone from Michigan, USA.
@died4us590 I'm a new viewer and these older vids help tie up some odds and ends I was wondering about. Thoughtful of Luke and Julie to bring us newbies up to speed.
The interaction between Luke and Ben was great fun! Never a dull day at Mapperton! Mapperton's commitment to making this world a better place is extremely heartening. Thank you!!!! Love and hugs from me in New Mexico USA.
I'm sorry to say that the beaver will not like the noise of a tin roof. If you really need to know about beavers I've learned so much from Post 10 on his RUclips channel... They need a pool and a secondary pool and several culverts to make them stay, make a home and stay busy....when they are busy at home they don't go anywhere😏
Especially loved this episode on a wild life preserve. The wolves reintroduced 🐺🐾 to Yellowstone National Park 🏞️ reinvigorated the environment. Would like to know what could be done in only a small plot of less than an acre in town. Thx. Cheers 🍻
I think Luke is trying to do retainement lakes/pools which will bring more wildlife into the area. I don't know if he's trying to see what comes naturally or bring in other species?
THANK YOU FOR REINTRODUCING BEAVERS AND FOR SAVING HABITATS!❤ Great job, @Mapperton Live, bringing awareness to how essential beavers are to ecology!👏👏👏
How delightful and heartwarming. I keep being fascinated by episodes that catch me by surprise of delight. I greatly enjoyed the natural pool project and this too is wonderful. Thank you for doing the environmentally nourishing thing and sharing the journeys. ❤❤❤
Tarzan noise... Lol... Love it! Luke you did a good Tarzan. Nice to see Nester and all the work he did for the beavers. I really enjoyed this video. I guess from the comments it is an older video. That is OK, I had not seen this footage before. Thanks Luke and Julie.
I loved this. We could use water retention in our cow pasture. Alas, there are not enough trees to support beaver. Nestor, I’m a fan. It’s great when you appear. Really another side of Mapperton that I wouldn’t expect to see. Thank you for this content.
Luke is gorgeous! It will be tough keeping him home! Anyways, when the beavers were first released I found myself tearing with the potential of a new sanctuary for so many species of wildlife. It really was moving. Enjoyed all the subsequent visits to see their progress. Your wilding is born.
As an animal lover I enjoyed watching the recap of Woody and Twiggy, hoping that new beavers will take up residence at Mapperton soon. It’s fun, too, to watch the byplay between father and son, “You didn’t do the Tarzan yell!” as Nestor swings on a vine to cross the water.😂
This is the best episode of Mapperton I've seen, just amazing footage of those industrious beavers and all involved in getting them there are the upkeep of their enclosure, well done everyone xx
Monitoring the beaver is now a full time job! I’m ariginally from Ontario Canada. Tons of beaver. Have you studied them? Their dams are amazing up there. (Nancy, Tampa)
Congratulations!!! Beavers are great for the environment!! A fabulous book you might enjoy is Eager: The Surprising, Secret Life of Beavers and Why They Matter by Ben Goldfarb.
I like seeing Nestor getting involved with thing's at Mapperton, the apple's, the beavers, and helping out in Italy with the curtains. He is sure a handsome young man looks much like you Julie, and maybe he will be the one who takes over the conservation of Mapperton when the time comes, so that it's kept in the family. Being hands on and learning everything is where one would start out if thinking this may one day be his path in life. I think he has the passion to do this one day, and he is a lot like Luke in personality, he would just need a wife like Julie who has her energy and passion coming into such a huge estate with so many different thing's to manage, but he has plenty of time before thinking about all that. I liked seeing Luke and Nestor spending time waiting for Woody. to show up munching nettles. I wouldn't be able to sit and wait that long without something to do, or a good book. G-d bless everyone, from a lady in Michigan, USA.
Fascinating! And I had so many chores lined up today. Have you approached US Public TV network to show this program. It is just terrific. I’m Nancy in Tampa Florida. Merry Christmas to all of your family.
Have been enjoying your video’s for months. As for rewinding project would you be able to list the species of animals you have on the property and those you hope to attract back and maintain. I am very interested in your wetland species such as reptiles and amphibians and mamals. Great Channel.
When you either get Woody and Twiggy back, or get new beavers, can you put a tracking device on them? FYI snakes don't make holes tho they do use holes that other animals make.
Luke, North American beavers generally build huge mounds approximately 8-10 feet in diameter of wood and mud. The walls are quite thick (for winter), with a cozy inner den with multiple entrances. Not sure about the structure/lodge you guys have built...good luck with that. Are Scottish beavers similar or not? The first pair didn't like their enclosure, and left when the area flooded, so it will be interesting to see what the next pair will do. I'll cross my fingers...Happy Holidays to you, Julie, and your family.🦫🎄
Underground some, yeah? Think Canadian footage I've seen, they burrowed a bit. I'm in the Midwest and only ever hear them splashing about while I'm night hiking.
@kittyzcora5863 What are you trying to say? I just noted that the structure being built is small-like for a muskrat. Beavers build huge homes in the water, and I am rooting for a successful endeavor by Luke. And, yes they are very quiet animals, the slapping of their tails being an alarm/defense sound. Perhaps you might read up on beavers before making troll-like comments to me.
@donnayoung5133 wasn't necessarily to you per se. It was the only post I seen stating actual truth to their dwellings. As for their tails, it's due to an actual hiking trail that stays open during darker hours. I wasn't trolling, whatever that is.
@@SongOfSongsChapterTwoVerseFour the name calling is unnecessary, you sound like a bully. Shame on you. It hasnt helped their ecosystem...its destroyed their trees and waterways
Idea: What about fencing the large viable trees so the beavers cannot gnaw on and destroy them since they won’t be able to drag the huge trees to their lodges. 🤔🌷

Those little bastards are going to ruin the woods. Ten to twenty years and no woods left. No where for birds or squirrels etc. What a disaster.
I'm a little disappointed Luke bc I didn't see any beavers and I watched the entire show. lol
You do know that you should never put your human scent on the beavers tree, these are wild animals so less human scent is better for the beavers.
