Thanks for tuning into the LIVE premiere of this track my dudes! See you next time 😊❤
He actually doesn’t sound like that when he’s talking.
Watch the whole trilogy Repentless, You against you, Pride and prejudice. They all tie together. Very bloody but great music. I’m glad I grew up listening to Slayer. Couldn’t wait for the next album after getting Show no mercy!
I don't always listen to Slayer, but when I do, so do the neighbors.
lol
Damn straight!!!
If we neighbours you mean "all the folk in the village" then yes
Outstanding 😂
😈 My neighbor kids know who Slayer and Misfits are from playing beside my garage! I feel like a proud unwanted stepdad!
Tom Araya is such an underrated vocalist. When he screams, he SCREAMS! When he sings, he SINGS! He's got a gift very, very, few singers have, no matter how harried his voice gets, you can almost always pick out what he's saying. !M!
Massive Slayer fan for almost 40 years .Caught them nearly every time the played Glasgow. Took the Wife to see them and she loved them . Brilliant band with fanatical fans. What you see is what you get . 2 hours of relentless, repentless Thrash in your face . Amazing when you see how cool , laid back , intelligent and soft spoken Tom and Kerry are . Shame they’ve retired. RIP Jeff . SLAAAAAYYYEEERR🤘🏴
Yeah I’m gutted I didn’t get the chance to see them perform! I love the idea that they were really soft spoken 😆
Back in the 80's and early 90's when they toured and came through St Louis, you could often find the band at a local bar after the concerts. They were very approachable and easy to talk to.
They've got a couple shows coming up in september 2024 here in the states because tom's wife kept telling him to do it again lol
@@SoulSingerDiscovers I’ve never experienced anything like a Slayer concert. They make Metallica look like a bubblegum pop band and their shows are the definition of brutality.
Your depiction of Slayer as the scary pillar of the big four's foundation is correct. Of the bands they are the most intense. And yes in person they are really nice people. As a Slayer fan for forty years yes, I am a mild mannered 51-year-old diesel mechanic, that helps turtles cross the road.
Honestly, that's every metal head.
We might look rough around the edges, but we're the nicest people around. Quite possibly because we get our aggressions out by listening to metal.
Tom is very soft spoken and polite...one of the more wholesome metal musicians...
Also, this is one of three videos in the "killogy" off this album...
Yeah I have the other three to watch and I am quite excited about it. I believe it. All the scariest people I have ever met were the loveliest 😊
@@SoulSingerDiscovers also, if you watch all 3 of them, violence in this video would make more sense.
I saw them on their last tour when they were retiring. Tom, their singer was the sweetest person. He was really moved by the people that came out to give them one last goodbye. He knew he was retiring, but didn't want to leave the fans.
I'm a 49 year old dad and I've seen Slayer six times since 1992. Always a good time. Repentless isn't one of my favorite songs, from my least favorite era but it's great to see someone appreciate Slayer for their contribution to extreme music. Great reaction!
Thank you my dude! 💪😊
@@SoulSingerDiscovers Try some of their older stuff. Spirit in Black off of Seasons in the Abyss is what I think of when I think of Slayer.
Soul Singer discovers Slayer's Repentless and immediately seeks therapy. And frankly, I don't blame her.
True words my dude! 😂
@@SoulSingerDiscovers Therapy underway! Pls type in: Roger Glover And Guests -Love Is All
🙂
Bah, Slayer is therapy.
Metal, in general, obviously has truth in it because the powers that be actively tell you not to listen to it. 🤷🏻♂️
Tom is actually pretty soft spoken. Also, tom has been singing like that for 40 years, so it preserved pretty well.
Which is mighty impressive 💪
Tom is like a machine live. Every performance is spot on and consistent.
F**KING SLAYERRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! They're by far the best of the Big 4. Stayed true to themselves their entire career which covered about 40 years. I was lucky enough to open for them once in 1989 on their South of Heaven tour. Repentless, indeed. You will definitely need to check out their legendary songs Raining Blood and Angel of Death.
I like their moxy! 😂
I saw them on that tour, near the end of 1988. Overkill as the opening act, Motorhead supporting, and of course Slayer as the headliner, all on Halloween night. Best show I've ever been to.
@@Patryn71this was an amazing tour. I was at the Indianapolis show for this one.
Apart from the crap nu metal era
Nuclear Assault were the support on the UK leg of the tour. I saw them in September 1988 at the Manchester Apollo
I remember being in the crowd on Relentless tour (Death Angel/Anthrax/Slayer) probably about 6-7 people deep in from Tom Araya. And it was pause in between songs, Tom asked "so are you ready to have some serious fun?" people yelled in response, he stepped away from microphone and yelled back "you want to gave some fun?" I swear the god the loudness of his voice was not just distinguished from total noise in the hall, it was probably 1/5 of mic volume.Such a powerful meaty voice! And song that followed was War Ensemble.. Good times , nearly broke my ankle in Mash pit during Angel of Death
When the mood hits me I love Slayer and there's nothing better. I have seen them live live and I don't think I'm crazy. Haha
Will the jury is still out on whether or not you and others are crazy but then again I can’t really comment as an unhinged person myself 😂
Thank you Melisa, that was amazing. Fir someone that doesn't know much about Slayer you were right in point about a lot of what you said. Us Slayer/Metal fans are always misunderstood and misrepresented by the 'so-called' norm of society. We may live in scary houses covered in darkness and at least 1 dead body on the grounds (loved yer description 😂😂😂), but we have more warmth, acceptance and tolerance coming from our cold, black hearts than a lot of others. And we may look scary with long hair, dressed all in black, tattoos, piercings, the occasional corpse paint and heavy mascara but we have feelings too. Keep shining the torch on our darkness as everyone is welcome in the Metal world 🤘🏻🇬🇧🖤
P.S. more Slayer when yer nightmares go away and i can't wait till you experience Anthrax. So different but every bit amazing. You're gonna love Joey Belladonna's voice.
Thank you Russell! Honestly I feel a connection with the darkest fans of things like metal! As a horror and Tom Waits fan, a lot of it makes sense to me. This whole comment needs printed on a T-shirt for me 😂 Looking forward to it! Hope you’re keeping well my dude 🥰
Just made my day, to see a new face in my feed, with an adorable accent.
Plus, I get to see you experience Slayer, in reverse.
This won't be your last one, Lassie.
I'm a huge Slayer fan. Music in general helps me excise emotions that would be inappropriate in public. Metal in particular. Slayer expresses my anger and contempt for society for me so I can live a life inside it's boundaries. Extreme art in general is a wonderful outlet.
You can never go wrong with Slayer! Love the Army of Darkness clip as well!!!
I express my emotions through army of darkness memes 😎
I've seen Slayer countless times over the decades, the last time in Newcastle on their final world tour - and the intensity never waned. My little group came back from that gig with on!y a minor back sprain and a couple of cracked ribs between us which, as far as Slayer gigs went, was fairly unscathed. I remember one time seeing them at Manchester Apollo and some guys were jumping from the balcony and being caught by crowd below. THE most intense live band ever with THE most intense fans. But no matter the intensity it was always a really friendly crowd. They'd be slamming around into each other but the moment someone fell the crowd would push back and a dozen hands would grab that person and pull them back to their feet so they wouldn't be trampled. Some of the most beautiful people you could ever meet.
Also, alongside early Sabbath... Best. Riffs. Ever.
R.I.P. Jeff.
That man was a god! And he gave zero fucks!
Out of the 4 Slayer is the most extreme. They wanted to be the trash version of a band like Mercyful Fate (aka King Diamond's first band) where they were fast and heavy but wanted to bring in an evil sound and themes into their music. Probably THE best example of this is their song "Hell Awaits".
As for them personally they really are from the heart kind of people. They're retired now but in 2019 when they were on their farewell tour I saw them. When the show was over the band walked off stage and then a few moments later Tom walked back out. He just looked at the audience for maybe half a minute. Then leaned to the mic and very genuinely and sincerely said: "I'm really going to miss you guys."
Almost made me shed a tear. 😢
Aw see these are the gig stories I love that I would never get to hear from a Google search or a bio of the band. Glorious 🥰
Slayer live was amazing Jeff was a beast on guitar! also awesome job! SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you my dude 💪😊
I've been to see Slayer a couple of times. The first was at the Manchester Apollo and I was right down the front. I was so sweaty by the end that I had to wring my shirt out. But I've never had such a big smile after a gig!
You should have started with You Against You. It's the song that explains why our hero is in prison in the first place
I agree, my favorite on Repentless.
I think most of slayer band members are pretty calm, Tom Araya is always smiling and has a contagious laugh, Paul Bostaph seems like a really chill dude on his interviews, and Gary Holt who kind of "replaced" Jeff for this final album usually posts photos or videos of cats on his social media.
I love that! Cats are a good come down from intense thrash 💪🥰
OK, I guess you really got it totally right with his natural distortion, never sounds really forced....
Loved going to Slayer gigs, always a wild experience, seen their last show at the Hydro in Glasgow before they retired
Saw them on the same tour in Cardiff. Epic. My neck didn't recover for days ;) One of my big regrets is that I never got to see them with Jeff and Dave though.
Slayer just retired 2 years ago but did a tour beforehand. If you watch the live version of this song from the last night in LA you can get a good read on his voice and their performance live. Even if you dont react make sure to watch it on your own time - its awesome :D
Ill check it out! Thank you my dude! :)
Heresy! Slayer without Hanneman and Lombardo is like a car with three wheels and no engine.
Repentless is a good track, but it's really Slayer at half speed.
ага ага
Exactly!! No hate to Gary Holt, he's an OG founder of Exodus, but never truly liked Paul Bostaph. It's only Dave for me. R.I.P JEFF HANNEMAN!!!
Exactly!! No hate to Gary Holt, he's an OG founder of Exodus, but never truly liked Paul Bostaph. It's only Dave for me. R.I.P JEFF HANNEMAN!!!
Thanks for giving one of my favorite bands a chance! Others have seen your video and maybe turned them on to something they enjoy. Thank you so much!
Welcome to slayer world baby !!!!!!!! Hahahahahahahhaahahaha
Thank you my dude 💪😊
I’ve seen them live in 2008 so the original line-up and it was a great show. I love both Dave and Paul’s drumming
Metallica is a boy band. Tom is hilarious. He's always laughing and joking around. The entire band is soft spoken and know they don't have to be characters. Gary loves cats and his grand kids and always helping musicians. The best people. Concerts were the best.
I love slayer they always will be one of my favourite bands I have seen them live umpteen times in Glasgow and once in England the shows are off the wall mental in the best most awesome way.
I’m a care assistant from Ayr and love the quiet life
they’re a great band :)
There's a lot of music out there telling stories of the pretty side of life on Earth,Slayer brings you the truth.
I met Tom many years ago during the Clash of the Titans tour. He was genuinely a nice guy and happy to sign some autographs and talk to some fans. Jeff on the other hand, walked past everyone and said if anyone wanted his autograph, they would have to pay for it. He went straight to the bus without even making eye contact with fans.
Good to see you are opened minded to our music metal is not for everyone .
So good to hear a fellow Scott saying that Slayer is top notch nice yin my friend....greetings from darvel Ayrshire to you have a good one...BEFORE YOU SEE THE LIGHT
Thank you bud! I appreciate it. Christ Darvel! I went to a house party there once it was mental 😂 thank you for watching 🥰
@@SoulSingerDiscovers funny wee world eh Melissa take care and my pleasure...SLAYERRRRRRR
I love Slayer . But that was a good down to earth talk you did about something you're not in to . Big Respect in my book 👍
Thank you Andy! I like to think that if someone came into my side of music not knowing they would take the time to listen even if it wasn’t for them. And for that reason I feel I should be the kind of listener I would want. Glad you appreciated it 😊
This is my favorite reaction of yours, well done. ❤
Thank you my dude! I know it was a bit much but I really enjoyed Slayers ethos 😂
Great reaction video. Funny you mention System of a down, Slayer brought them out on their first tour. I saw them play before they dropped their first record. Also I've seen Slayer about 30-40 times. Where ever, whenever they would play we would be there. Favorite show, the Extreme steel tour, Slayer, Pantera, Morbid Angel, Static X. Pure chaos is an understatement 😂. Keep up the good work.
Oh wow! So you are a proper, proper fan! I think that is super cool and I love that metal has this very clear defined ‘Big 4’. I can’t imagine how chaotic that gig would have been but I would have went anyway 😆 Thank you so much Trevor! 😊
Great song. No one sounds as aggressive and, well, relentless as slayer
I concur 😊
In my humble opinion this was the greatest tune they ever created and probably top five videos ever created
Cuando estoy triste, enojado o deprimido simplemente oigo a Slayer y me relaja demasiado
Thanks for watching my dude 😊
I so enjoyed your review, in fact you seemed quite educated in some aspects of the band.
I've seen Slayer live so many times and I remember the second time I watched them in Manchester at the Apollo theatre and it was so loud in the pit I could feel my body vibrating from the drums. I miss them since they've called it. Jeff will always be remembered and a legend in the Metal world. Slayer fans are sincere, honest and caring people believe it or not, I'd trust a Slayer fan over a pop fan any day of the week.
Cheers for the reaction review. 🤘😃
Thank you so much for your comment Nicholas! I really appreciate it. I honestly believe you. Everyone has been really lovely. I wish I had got to see them live but man, what an amazing amount of back catalogue to discover. 🥰💪
You got the description of the big four bands pretty spot on, now you just need to meet the goofy fun loving member, anthrax.
I’m looking forward to being introduced 😊
I have seen artists from Tom Jones to Napalm Death, Slayer are my middle of the road band and I never get tired of them. That was a good reaction, you understand what is going on as a singer, with the lyrics and performance you get it.
Thank you my dude! Im glad you enjoyed the video! 🥰
I was actually at a show that was Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Metallica. Amazing show.
Wow. I can’t imagine. Super cool! 😊
Although the bands' name is spelled simply Slayer, it is pronounced "FUCKING SLAYERRR!!!".
I will remember that for our next visit to FUCKING SLAYERRRR!! 😂
I've only ever been lucky enough to get to one Slayer concert, they don't get to this part of the world often. I did manage to up to the rails for Raining Blood and spent most of the concert in the pit.
I was about 45 at the time, I'm now 60 and, given the chance, would be right in there again!
Im definitely going to return to them because that was absolute fire. Ill pop that on my list to do. Also I love your profile pic. If you are a big Vampire Masquerade fan you can stay 🥰
@@SoulSingerDiscovers It's been a very long time since I played but I used to have a Toreador I played for around 7 years on a weekly basis.
Loved the reaction, love From Dusk till dawn.
Have seen Slayer half a dozen times and have to say, they are up there with the best live shows I have seen.
This video is part of a trilogy of videos that actually tell a story. It is called the Slayer Killology. Worth a look as this clip will make more sense.🤘 Love your wok
Defo checking out the two other videos in this series to get the full understanding. Great song though. Ill check this other one out, thank you so much for watching my dude 😊
Forget which one, but one of them vids is way more disturbing than this one. Oh, and I hate horror, but From Dusk til Dawn is just in a class of its own. And not only for Ms Hayek's dancing ...
Hope you enjoy. Would love to see reaction to them.
Thanks again for doing what you do
Tom isn't one of best singer voice in heavy mental but fits the style very well. He also the bass player too!
Yeah I support any expression! Even if it’s not the highest possible in ability if it’s genre specific 😊
Slayer is the deep end of the big 4.
Harder, faster, darker than the other 3.
Back in the day, they were also the most shocking.
In the 80s...the start of a Slayer show in intensity can be compared to the ramps of the Normandy invasion dropping.
A few days ago I was in the garage building horsepower, drinking beer, and listening to SLAYER like a normal man. Apparently the music was "too loud" and the lady 5 blocks away called the cops.
The cops showed up and arrested her.
Im old and after loved slayer since their start never actually got a chance to see them in concert because i was in the navy. Then i finally get to go see em and my back was so effed up i just sat in the outside and listend.
Aw Troy! At least you could listen 💜
Eyepatch guy is very softly spoken.
Metalheads are the happier people out there, cause we have an outlet for all the negativity in and around us.Listening to Slayer is like a cleansing...you feel better after it and (almost) nothing can make you easily mad anymore! Metal is Medicine for the Mind! 🤘😈
That's why it's... FUCKIN'SLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
Only one proper way to express your love of Slayer...
SLAYEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!!!
I saw Slayer live five times in the 90s. The later material didn’t excite me as much, but I still bought every record. The live show was always great, and I should have gone ahead and seen them on the farewell tour.
In the 90s, I saw a few acts get pretty much booed off the stage opening for Slayer who went on to get a lot bigger, and that included System of a Down and Powerman 5000. A Slayer crowd wants something straightforward and menacing, because they’re in that headspace as soon as they walk through that door …
Which sounds scary but then if that’s where they express their rage what a healthy way to do so 😊💪
You: What you think about Slayer!
Me: Slayer!!!
I saw Slayer live in Glasgow back in 2018 and when they performed this song, Tom didn't scream like he does in the album version. That's most likely since it was the first song of the night and he didn't want to lose his voice before the gig was finished.
Yeah, sustaining this level of shouting would be an ask over a whole night not to mention a tour, would have been great to see it live 😊
@@SoulSingerDiscovers it was an awesome experience overall, they opened the show with “Delusions of Saviour” which leads into “Repentless”. Slayer had announced at the time that they were going to be breaking up so this was going to be my last chance to see them live. It was a spectacular final performance.
I love how she gets 5 seconds into the filmclip and says oh dear, not knowing the carnage to follow..........
If only I knew 😂
On the weekends, camouflaged shorts and Slayer t-shirt, I'm 20 years old again. 🤘🏻😝🤘🏻
I love that music can do that! It’s a fricken Time Machine 🥰
Was fortunate enough to see them love my 20th time and Slayer's very last show.
War Ensemble next!
Slayer is both the most terrifying and the most respected of the big 4. Their music is pure nightmare fuel and what you think of metal. They also stayed true to form and never went soft or mainstream. Oh no, Slayer delivered music that was fast, heavy and brutal every single time.
I really love behind the crooked cross. That one is a real toe tapper.
SLAYERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Slayer have no equal... i've been headbanging to them since the mid-80's - kller band 😎🤘☘
Respect & Peace ☘
I personally gravitate from Show No Mercy to Seasons in the Abyss, there's the obvious classics that everyone recommends, but I love Dead Skin Mask, At Dawn They Sleep, Captor of Sin, Haunting the Chapel, Spill the Blood, Read Between the Lies.
Definitely get some of these on the list for the next slayer vid 😊👍
Yeah I'd say that Tom specializes in chanting. Generally at scream level and always with a cadence of some sort. I might have gone with something like Blood line or South of Heaven for a first timer. Hahaha! This one is a whole lot to absorb. You handled it well. Hahahaha
Next up: Pantera, domination!
Got it on my list 😊
And if you'd like to see a different take on Slayer's work, Rob Scallon did a set of ukulele Slayer covers (yeah, it's as nuts as it sounds) under the umbrella of a "Sunday Uke Group".
The scary uncle of the metal community..
Well put.
So cool to see Derek Mears make a appearance. He was Jason in the F13 remake
Reign jn blood still my favorite album of slayers, I am 46 and that was my first slayer album at 11 years old, I'm still fascinated that iv never truly been a fan of anything I my life in a real way, but that album amazed me
I have that on my list to discover! :)
been a slayer fan since 85 when i was 13 have seen them live when jeff was alive awesome experience. Anthrax to use your analogy is your new york punk cousin / slayers nephews. Gung Ho is a great track to start with and yes i have seen Anthrax live in 1990
Yeah I have Anthrax on the list and I’m really looking forward to it 💪😊
SLAYER
Thanks for giving attention to one of my all time bands, true proper metal! All the members are in real life, gentlemen 😊. Oh BTW I've seen Slayer back in the 80s.
I am super jealous of anyone who caught some of these acts in their early days. Thank you for watching my dude! 😊
This is Slayer 2.0. True Slayer finished their career back in 2013, when Henneman died, Lombardo left and Araya lost ability to headbang.
Your accent is so welcoming!
Metallica is atmospheric
Megadeth is technical
Anthrax is party
Slayer is fucking angry
Tom Araya was like 55 years when this came out too 🤣
danny is no stranger to prison lol
Gary Holt is also a member of Exodus, one of the major underrated thrash metal bands from the San Francisco Bay area. You should check out Blacklist from Exodus
RIP Jeff! Best. Band. Ever!
Oh honey…
You just looked in a room and saw something that you didn’t want to see but want part of. Good luck. It’s a high ride.
Keep doing your thing, don’t let youtube push you around!
That's the plan! Thank you for watching my dude! 😊💪
You liked it 👍
Yes I did 😊
@thatmelisakelly I could tell cuz you didn't look away, or talk for a minute.. whilst nodding to the riff
The bassist from Anthrax called Slayer's music the soundtrack of Hell
Love Slayer, a great way of harness the negative and turning it to something energising, and not shying away from the stuff tgat should make us mad. If you fancy something a bit slower Dead skin mask has the nastiest riff I have heard live.
Life is all shades of light and dark and I salute those that steer into the skid as it were. Ill check it out. Thanks my dude 😊
If you want to hear Anthrax, I'd recommend 3 songs:
1. Caught in a mosh
2. Indians
3. I am the law
No no no
Go back to the early stuff first....
Much better
Seem to remember this vid was part of a series with a storyline about revenge😈 Met Slayer in the late 80s after a gig at the Ardwick Apollo. They went to a club called Jillys2...Jeff drank alot....Tom drank non alcoholic and was chatty and pleasant...Kerry had hair and didnt say much (still looked scary)...and Dave didnt turn up coz his wife made him go straight to the hotel 🥃🫖🍺⛔
I found out after the fact, and I am really looking forward to getting into the other two! Thanks Nikki! I am fairly jealous that you got to meet Slayer, have been told all about how lovely they are now 🥰 (Had hair and didn’t say much should be a T-shirt!) 😂
Just wait till you see the Trejo in the 'pride in prejudice' section of the Killogy!!
Bobby! You’re speaking my language! I look forward to it 🥰
Grizzly Adams Araya looks and sounds ridiculous. That said, Slayer are thrash gods that cannot be denied.
Ps, this song/video is part of a video video trilogy and a movie called Slayer: The Repentless Killogy. Fun stuff.
Yes Slayer is about all you said in the video. And yet they are the Evil Uncle of them top 4 bands hehe
Saw Slayer back in the day... There is no compairison to other bands. They have mellowed quite a bit over the decades, check out thier earlier stuff maybe? I went to the South Of Heaven tour and it was GLORIOUS! There was drinking, drugs, fights, fireworks.... And that was in the line going in.
I seen them 20 years ago with Damageplan and they were amazing! Went less good after Jeff died and Gojira opened for them. Gojira blew them off the stage imo, but the crowd was into it. Something from Reign/South of Heaven/Seasons would be better as it's their peak. Though God Hates us All is what got me into them. Bloodlines is pretty groovy for Slayer.
😂 What a glorious gig story! I am very jealous!
I saw Slayer on tour in 2018 with Testament, Bohemoth, Anthrax and Lamb of God, awesome show, all the bands were great, I just wish Testament's set was a little bigger, they are my favorite bay city thrash band
