- Relax as I show you the 2021 Parker 51 Deluxe fountain pen that I recently acquired. Parker has once again stunned the world with the launch of the resurrected Parker 51 fountain pen. The original Parker 51 fountain pen was a revolutionary design and was first developed in 1939 and introduced to the whole world in two years later in 1941. Parker ceased production of the 51 in 1972 after cheap, ball-point pens had taken market-share away from fountain pens, but now, 80 years after the original, the Parker 51 fountain pen lives again in two new versions, the core (standard) version and the Deluxe model, which is featured in this video.
I hope this post finds you well. Some of you know that I am a fan of vintage Parker 51 fountain pens. When I learned that Parker was releasing an all-new 51, I decided to set aside a little here and there so that I could eventually acquire one. I finally ordered one and am happy to show it to you in this video along with a couple of vintage examples of Parker 51 fountain pens.
I didn't come right out and say it in the video, but I was disappointed that the pen's color was darker than what I was expecting, but as it turns out, the color has grown on me to the point where I prefer it over the lighter color shown in online photos.
I admit this pen was a splurge for me, but I know I'm going to enjoy the pen for the rest of my life and am sure you'll catch a glimpse of it now and then in future videos on this channel.

6,500 views and only 300 Likes, but only 3 Dislikes. Come on, guys. Take half of a second and hit the Like button. Before you hit play. It's not like we have to search for it at the bottom of the page, it is literally below the video. Costs not a penny to you. Helps him make more video content. People are really wondering why videos aren't being made as often (sure, he's got stuff to do in life, too), but aren't giving feedback or helping out with the channel and yet will watch? A video like this seems 'simple' to you, but for anyone who has ever edited a video for youtube, this is an hours-long process that doesn't include filming the video itself.
I agree that the man's content is worth a like, (which is why I liked it) but so many people click on and off. Tons of people don't like, comment, or subscribe because they're constantly asked to by every video they watch. While I want this channel recommended to the algorithm, I'll say this: your comment's only preaching to the choir.

@@theoriginalbasedknight Indeed. But hilariously, oftentimes the choir and church staff are the ones that need preaching to the most. Morals-wise, the people in a church choir tend to be worse off and live a worse life than the other attendees of the church. So preaching to the choir is usually a necessity, and sometimes the preacher needs somebody to preach to him too when he's wayward and worse off than some of the general members. Which happens often, of course.

@@DizFreakyAznBitch Nope, no relation to him (though I know you're joking). Just a long-time viewer tired of seeing people not liking/subscribing to essentially 'pay' for the content. He does have another good channel, too. Lots of Minecraft stuff and such there that I also find equally relaxing.

Hello, Sir. I've been watching your channel for years and I am now an adult... I used to watch your videos while doing homework, then writing my books, now taking notes from med school. There wasn't a day I didn't dream of having a dip pen myself. I kept on trying my best to do my own thing and be able to buy one. Now I have a simple crown pen that I bought and a little bottle of blue paint for over a year.

i’m 17, but my dad showed me a lot of the music he would listen to growing up, and steely dan was one of his favourites, alongside ccr - to which I now love pretty much all 60s-70s-80s and some 90s.

I love your videos. I actually don't really "watch" them per se, I play them in the background just to hear your voice and the sounds of the objects while I do something else, like studying for university. It's very calming.

I was actually thinking that I'm glad the plum color is so dark. It makes for a very elegant color, and it also strikes me as seeming more vintage and era-appropriate if it's not overly bright. And it makes it look tasty as plum tater pudding.

My grandfather has a collection of parker pens. A lot of other brands of fountain pens and sometimes he shows me them and a large majority of them are sealed in box still!

Never occurred to me until just now but one of many reasons I like as Mr (besides the R haha) is how chatty ones kind of talk about small things. Just facts people know or options about non controversial things. It's soothing to just listen to people kind of think out loud and I never really get to do that irl

My guess is, the manufacturers probably assumes, if you are paying that much for a pen they probably don't need any supporting documentation, because they already know how to operate it.

I usually (not always) let a video simmer for a bit, allowing comments to taper off to a trickle so that I can sit down and respond to as many as possible in one session, but this might be the most surprising comment I've ever read under one of my videos, thus prompting me to respond sooner than I normally would.
There are/were about a half-dozen manufacturers of train horns, each offering several different models with various tone nuances created not only by the many different arrangements of the horn groupings, but also by the materials used and manufacturing processes utilized, and you my friend feel that you have heard a Nathan model P3 horn in this video??That's kind of specific wouldn't you agree?
Well let me just say that you're guess of a three-chime, vintage sound is pretty spot on, as it does indeed sound like a P3 made by Nathan. The P3 came out in the early 1950s and can still be heard on many older diesel locomotives such as the ones short line regional railroads still use.
Now, I can't be certain if it's a P3 or not, but certainly does sound like it might be. I had to listen to some reference recordings of P3 horns before replying to your comment and I think you are correct. Good call. Now tell me, any the rest of us reading this, what kind of background do you have that resulted in not only being stunned at the vintage tone, but also actually knowing the probable manufacturer, plus, the most likely model number??????

You can hear a slight different between the old and new 51; the old is smoother.
I hope the new gold nib.. maybe wears in well.. get the very tip softened up a bit...
