I honestly would love to! But might be out of our price range for now....
Why not the bmw m54b30? Same engine as m52 but with a aluminum block and 50hp more from factory, they also do pretty well with bolt ons like a m50 manifold, catless headers and cams. They are also quite the same price as m52.
I looked into an m54 as well and not honestly sold on just one or the other. Mostly just comes down to what I find at the right time for the right price locally. The biggest thing I saw about the M52 was how dumb reliable they're known to be. I'm not planning on making more than 350rwhp in this car at the start so the extra power the M54 makes isn't too much of a concern.
You're not allowed to quit on us now! We like bimmers, why not use the V10 or V8?
