I can't help but wonder, if it's suggesting that whatever is going on with the "Moon" and the other interconnected phenomena, that rather than a whole "master plan orchestrated by something", that it suggests a bunch of separate phenomena that while related in its source or cause, it's a "free for all" of different entities, creatures, etc that are all trying to achieve their own ends; one to have us all destroy ourselves, another to isolate us and take us, another to become servants to the "Moon", and so on. The end result is the loss of all human life, the collapse of all we know, but these different entities or creatures or whatnot, are so fixated that they wouldn't even blink to destroy their own in the process. That these predators don't care if it's another of their own kind or who have similar goals, they'll prey upon whatever and whomever, even if it would be beneficial to work together.

I really love the aesthetic of Night Walk, though it feels a lot more like early cryptid documentary series from the late 80s and 90s than something from 1977. Especially with those zooms and narrator. Either way, yet another amazing video from Local58!
It really looks like an episode of “In Search Of”, which was from the 1970s and covered all kinds of paranormal and cryptid type stuff. Loved watching the reruns on cable as a kid. Leonard Nimoy hosted and narrated it.

Have a close look at it, look at how many legs it has and the way the arms are positioned, it's not an alien, it's two people who have been fused together along the spine somehow, the slight height difference would explain why one face is always looking slightly up too
This by far has to be my favorite channel. So much interesting lore and creativity. Each video leaves you feeling unnerving and also leaving you with questions. Not many analog horror series do that. There are quite a few do but each video gets one of the questions we have answered. Keep up this amazing series. I hope it keeps unnerving people.

"Skywatching" was clearly merely a portent. Or a threat. Or a warning. Or possibly proselytization. Either way, later Local 58 short do imply that the world didn't end. That said, the in-universe _Night Walk_ episode clearly pre-dates most of the previous shorts. The "Woman in Profile" might be related to the Moon, or it might not.
Even before the reveal, I was immediately reminded of a yokai that has a mouth in her hair, which would go on to inspire a Pokémon, both of which I forgot the name of.

I am incredibly thankful for masters (understatement) of analogue horror like you guys. Thank you so much for reminding me of the wonders of horror. I excitedly await whatever you have in store for us.
I got the notification while driving, so I pulled into a sketchy wooded area for 300 feet and then turned off my headlights to blend in so I could watch this.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but the reveal at the end kind of killed it for me. I was really freaked out for a moment until the eyes glowed. The build-up worked on me really well and the switch to first-person camera footage unsettled me a great degree. But then the glowing eyes and the flashlight panning over it made it feel like any other monster from a horror game. The blurry images you're first shown of the figure do a good job of setting you up for what to look for, priming you to see the image of a woman in profile, and setting up an expectation for you to fill in the blanks for. Then, as the camera settles, and you're able to focus on the finer details of the figure, you notice all of the things that stick out and don't match up with the image you've created in your mind, leaving you with questions that catch you off guard and further confuse and disorient you. For me, the exchange went something like: >"Okay, simple enough ghost story... " >"Yeah, that's mildly unsettling. Camera's really close, is he safe?" >"Oh, fuck! It has two faces! Why does it have two faces!?"
in my opinion analog horror needs to be as understated as possible to be effective, especially when it comes to monsters, so a lot of the genre is just unbearably corny. “a weird guy!!! then a loud noise and some glitches in the tape!!!! aaa!!! did I scare you?”
Thank youuuuu. Everyone else was being so positive and I didn’t wanna sour the fun for the rest of the folks, but I too felt like the reveal was corny and broke my immersion. Great concept, poor execution.
Idk, I find the "second face" realization being used as a red herring for the "glowing eyes" jump-scare was pretty smart. When I realised the "woman"'s "hair-bun" was a second "face", I didn't really expect much else from that. So it kinda works IMO!

I got the notification while driving, so I pulled into a sketchy wooded area for 300 feet and then turned off my headlights to blend in so I could watch this.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but the reveal at the end kind of killed it for me. I was really freaked out for a moment until the eyes glowed. The build-up worked on me really well and the switch to first-person camera footage unsettled me a great degree. But then the glowing eyes and the flashlight panning over it made it feel like any other monster from a horror game.
The blurry images you're first shown of the figure do a good job of setting you up for what to look for, priming you to see the image of a woman in profile, and setting up an expectation for you to fill in the blanks for. Then, as the camera settles, and you're able to focus on the finer details of the figure, you notice all of the things that stick out and don't match up with the image you've created in your mind, leaving you with questions that catch you off guard and further confuse and disorient you.
For me, the exchange went something like:
>"Okay, simple enough ghost story... "
>"Yeah, that's mildly unsettling. Camera's really close, is he safe?"
>"Oh, fuck! It has two faces! Why does it have two faces!?"

Fair critique. It didn't take me out of the immersion, but I can see where you're coming from.
in my opinion analog horror needs to be as understated as possible to be effective, especially when it comes to monsters, so a lot of the genre is just unbearably corny. “a weird guy!!! then a loud noise and some glitches in the tape!!!! aaa!!! did I scare you?”
Thank youuuuu. Everyone else was being so positive and I didn’t wanna sour the fun for the rest of the folks, but I too felt like the reveal was corny and broke my immersion. Great concept, poor execution.
Idk, I find the "second face" realization being used as a red herring for the "glowing eyes" jump-scare was pretty smart.
When I realised the "woman"'s "hair-bun" was a second "face", I didn't really expect much else from that. So it kinda works IMO!
