His death was kinda transferred to Tyrell now, similar to how "The Walking Death" changes which character dies from comic to t.v. adaptation. At least, that's the way I looked at it since Brad was already infected, Capcom probably thought it would be redundant to "kill him twice".
I honestly feel bad for brad. Most us can’t exactly say we wouldn’t also panic. What was happening was absolutely terrifying and not everybody is as courageous as others and that’s okay. I don’t think it was right of him to flee but he must have been terrified. He’s literally a computer nerd and a pilot.
Actually Brad probably made the correct choice as the other S.T.A.R.S. members were running in a different location to the helicopter and it could had compromised their only way to escape the forest safely (which they did). Not only that, but Brad actually stayed around even if the communication with the rest of his team was cut and assisted them in the end with a Rocket Launcher and saving them from the mansion explosion. He is the reason there were a few survivors to begin with.

Not really, being a helicopter pilot is impressive with an eight month training period, but Spec Ops aren't the ones that fly helicopters. And lastly it only takes a one day class to become proficient with a single weapon. Assuming the RPD maybe has seven standard weapons, that's at most a one week class. Kit Redfield you can unlock infinite ammo weapons after completing the game once. Just go to the shop before your 2nd playthrough & you can use the challenge points you earn during the campaign. Since this is a relatively old comment you’re probably already well aware of this I’d assume. But just in case you aren’t then it can’t hurt to mention it imo
Both deaths are pretty good. The original death shows what kind of monster you are up against. It also shows that Brads fear of Nemisis at the start of the game is realised as he begs Jill for help but before she can do anything, it's already too late and then you are given a choice. You can either fight Nemisis and try to avenge Brad or run from Nemisis to save your ammo for later encounters. To me, this is a very important choice that shapes how you play the game. Even to this day, I'm finding out new ways that Nemisis encounters you in the original. The remake death is kind of sad and portrays Brad as more of a self sacrificing hero to make up for the times he acted cowardly. It also shows Brad's last moments of sanity and speaks his last words "sorry" before he bites into Marvin and in turn, Marvin gives Leon the advice that Marvin himself failed to follow. "You do. Not. Hesitate." It's also a great call back to the Brad zombie fight Easter egg in the original RE2. Its just that its Carlos instead of Leon.
Well prior to that Brad had already been bitten by an RPD Officer Zombie at Bar Jack, the one Jill met him at in Old School RE3, so the T-Virus was already coursing through his bloodstream at the time he was killed by Nemesis
