cracking video stu 👍, love Ribena, made a ribena wine 2 years ago, when i opened it last week, it was just like a bottle of Jam Shed Malbec, which a was very happy about....once again cracking vid.....all the best
@@MossHomeandGarden Also, maybe liqueurs didn't have much flavour despite it sounds nice plus add glycerin doesn't mix well and oxidation with final product hence flavourless. I guess you didn't add rosewater in there.
Love love love love love love love your channel from Southeast Tennessee in the US some of that stuff we can't do here legally so we nicknamed it Pop-Tarts so if you ever hear the term Pop-Tarts from Southeast Tennessee you'll know what it
Ah thanks so much for the comment and love Gregor, that’s appreciated! The only pop tarts I know are the breakfast ones!! I’ll Google the Tennessee variant! Cheers!!
Keep up making the great content!! Got a question for you I love sparkling rosehip soda, do you have a recipe for a alcoholic bubbly rosehip beverage?? If so would love to see you do a video.
Hello and thanks for the great comment. I've never made anything with rosehips other than rosehip syrup. I have a 'hip hop cider' that I'm currently brewing with rosehip syrup and hops, the film we be out in early 2024. The reason that I've never used the rosehip fruit is that there aren't any to pick near where I live, apart from ones next to busy roads, which I don't fancy using. If I do get my hands on any, I will make a brew with them. Cheers!
Thanks Stevie, t's better than the normal air still, but it's not worth the money in my opinion, plus it's taking up a lot of room having both of them in the house....must get it back to them actually!!
Hi there, with what you know now with the Air still and Air still Pro and if you were a newbie to distilling, which Still would you start with to make a neutral spirit from your Tom paste wash and then go on to make Gin.
Honestly I'd go with the pro because the reflux mode is so simple. But with that said if you're willing to spend that much, there are probably other stills out there that might be as good or better for a similar price.
@@MossHomeandGarden Thanks. It is the small footprint and no taps for water to setup that is appealing. The cost, yeah very spenny but what you save on buying shop booze, it has gotta be really big savings. With you saying better options, would you go for something like a T500? I'm just starting and I love the way you do your videos as they are very informative and easy to follow.
Thanks mate, that's appreciated. I've never used a T500 so i can't compare. Have you joined any of the stilling groups on Facebook? They are probably a good place to get better comparison advice. Air Still Spirits For All is a popular one. @@stebtronic
i have the pro, used it about 30 times give or take, apart from foreshots did you do any cuts as there will be heads still there? i see throughout you note about the smell and its still there, its because the foreshots dont end with the tiny collection jar, there will be 100-200 mls of foreshots and heads you didn't remove in the spirit run, maybe watch jessie on stillit to learn how to take cuts so your not drinking heads
I didn't, in all honesty I thought in reflux mode that it wasn't necessary, at least that's what the instructions suggest. Do you think that would make a big difference?
@@MossHomeandGarden yes its night and day, you always need to take off the heads, that smell you said is from an airstill was heads, the sting on the tongue wash heads, it also overpowers flavours, you only want hearts, on reflux you wont get tails but on pot mode you will, and the heads or tails can easily pop into your next run, or use as a cleaner/weedkiller and firelighter i have a really simple pic to explain but im not sure it will let me save it here jessie at stillit has a gret video on heads and how to identify it, its diffrent for everyone, to me heads smells and tastes like sharp acid, plus you can detect acetone by the smell etc
Feel free to email me stumosshomegarden 'at' Gmail dot com, but essentially, if I separate the first 200ml on reflux, that should make a big difference? @@kitobi10660
It is illegal to distil spirits full stop. You can make your own diesel up to a certain quantity but not so for spirits. Quantity or frequency of production is not relevant. Personally I have no moral qualms at all but would not have a RUclips channel on the subject. Big Clive ,another popular channel, covered the subject of distillation but was very careful with what and how he phrased everything with half an eye on potential consequences. When a simple social media post can have you hauled off to prison as a 'Far Right Terrorist' I am not sure the old 'personal use, low volume' approach is going to work if the Government decides it wants to make some more money. For the record I buy and drink Old Pulteney only and do not do any distillation. As a technology it is very interesting though.
Well, I did do a mulled cider and a mulled spirit a couple of years ago...minus the butter! I've done Vimto ciders aplenty, and I'm doing a Vimto porter for next winter. Cheers!

Liqueurs sounds fun to make if bit hard but it doesn't matter!
Air Still fits well for your video too!

Thank you!! A very appreciated comment.
The bits could be crystalised sugar. Try placing the bottle in a bowl of warm water and see if it dissapears.
I will try that, thanks! 👍

I've always been curious about this. Do you need a license to be able to still?
"license to still" 😭
I think technically you might do (I’m not sure though), I usually make less than 8 litres a year so I’m a pretty small fish in the pond.

Oof matron!! You need to try a Vimto liquor. Something like spirit mulled wine 🤤 warmed with a cinnamon stick in it and some butter 😦
