Keep killing it. For kosher consumers, not all liqueurs are kosher. Like Chartreuse, St. Germain, etc. Learning to recreate these will be very helpful.
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Any alcohol made from grapes is not kosher unless certified. This includes vermouth, brandy, grappa, etc. Due to lack of quality kosher sweet vermouth in the United States, we are lacking in Manhattans and Negronis. Good recipes for vermouth that work for these recipes would help tremendously. Also liqueurs need to be certified kosher to ensure there are no unkosher ingredients, like bugs (Campari used to use cochineal coloring). Imagine life without Negronis! Thankfully Campari and Martini & Rossi vermouth is certified in Israel so we need to make sure friends are bringing some back:) So thank you again, all liqueur recipes and vermouth recipes will be tremendously helpful.
As a biomedical technologist it is very interesting to see that you are using the same kind of equipment as we do in a medical lab. Since i am from Scandinavia making a lingon liquer are on the top of my list.
Love this video. Glad you mentioned the Art of Drink video, Darcy did a great service with his series on extractions and the soda fountain perspective. Glad to see you adding to the RUclips canon on this topic! Great video JF
How good is Darcy, big fan. I can definitely recommend grabbing a separator funnel to get the essential oils out of your liqueurs, tinctures and essences
Hey Jean-Felix! What resources did you use to read up on liqueurs? Was it just Darcy at AOD, or are there some books on the topic? I'd love to read them if there are!
If I’m using Balkan vodka to do this ( it’s 88% ) what sort of rations I’m using? How can I calculate any of that liquor? and how to calculate syrup:spirit ratio ? I dunno if that make sense, I’m just using way stronger spirit
Well once you've made the essences, you could dissolve them in water and sugar and have an "alcohol free" liqueur because even if the essences are alcoho based, the end result would be less than 0.5% abv. If you do that, I recommend adding a little bit of glycerin in the mix for added texture
About the essential oils you said it should be certified what? Did you said certified grass? And if i can't find essential oil certified can I use extracts? And if so how do I use it?
I dis that for two reasons. First, I wanted a slightly less acidic ph because I think Corpse Reviver is a tie but too tart and also the clearer look of the cocktail just looks better with the oil garnish. Cheera
Hey Joe, the pectinase won’t help you for this. It’s for liquid with pectine in it such as fruit juices. That’s said, when you will mix it with the 330ml of vodka, you should get something pretty clear.

That’s interesting. I didn’t know that. What makes them not Kosher?

That’s the beauty with this, you can make almost any kind of liqueur. If there’s a GRAS oil, you can make one! Have fun and let me know how it goes.

Yep he's without a doubt the most knowledgable person I know on the topic!
I appreciate how the video breaks down the process step by step, making it accessible and easy to follow along.

Where do you buy your essential oils?
Prohibition has nothing on the gift of humanity (compared to bath tubs) you've provided
Awesome video!
Thank you :)
My ambrette seeds just came in the mail. All the way from India!
Nice!

Your in another league as a bartender, this is so interesting and impressive! 😃👍
thank you very much Albert! Cheers!

GRAS - Generally Recognized As Safe. Should be labeled on the bottle.
Not sure about your extract question
Why using super juice? That's why you did not shake the cocktail?

any advice for using essential oils to make an aromatic spray to sub for fresh citrus peels?
That’s actually pretty funny cause I’ve been working on a formula and I’m about to reveal it. Stay tuned for it this Friday 💪
If I used a 50% ABV and my solution is cloudy, would pectinase make the solution clear? (Never used it, and just heard about it)

@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Thanks very much for your feedback JF. Really enjoy your content.

Great video! I’m trying to understand the math a bit more. Is this a 1:15 ratio?
It could be, but how many mls are 20 drops?
