  • The Medo-Persian Empire is ruling the world, and King Darius is on the throne.
He decides to reorganise his kingdom under three governors, under whom are a series of 120 satraps.
Daniel, now an old man, is appointed to the role of governor, much to chagrin of the other high officials and satraps.
A plot is hatched to ensnare Daniel, and remove him from power, but such is the integrity of his service that the only means by which he can be dealt with is by legislating against his faith.
Daniel stands as exemplary example of how to stand faithful in the face of opposition and temptation to power, by continuing to get on his knees three times a day to pray and gives thank to the Lord.
Darius is tricked into signing a law that condemns his loyal servant Daniel to a pit of lions, but the real threat to Darius is not Daniel but the officials who have manipulated him.
A long night of distress and wrestling in the heart and mind for Darius…
    What will become of Daniel?
What will become of the officials and satraps?
What will become of King Darius?
One thing is certain, when all is said and done, the Lord will be glorified!
The eighth sermon in a series by Ian Fox.
Message delivered on Sunday 26th May 2024.
