This is so satisfying to watch. I wish there were more videos of Judo randori like this on the internet instead of the one-millionth video of "how to do Seio Nage". Thank you, Sensei Higashi.
Good stuff. Hyped to be getting back after lockdown. Would be really interesting to see a video showing randori across belts to see how styles and tactics progress over time.
Maestro Shintaro Hihashi, è sempre fondamentale e di insegnamento vedere Lei e i suoi Allievi. Complimenti per il suo dojo e per la passione che ha del judo. Grazie dei suoi insegnamenti.
I'm late to the party but that shot into the O Goshi-style grip (9:04), is that effective? I've been thinking about trying it recently and I see you tried it at least twice here. You should make a video on that unorthodox grip entry!
I would suggest trying it, a brown belt at my club does a similar entry (usually with a ko soto/o uchi feint) and it works very well for getting your hips low and your opponent moving!
At 8:10 you shoot a little double leg feint, it made me think "Are double legs and single legs in the traditional sense allowed in Judo competition?" and so I thought i would ask... are they?
Nice Randori! Could you make a Video explaining your belt System? I saw some Purple belt (I think she is your wife) and in europe we do not see Purple belts in Judo. All the best for your Dojo!
Really cool! I was wondering. Is it possible to do Judo randori with more of a self-defense approach ...even if given that your partner may be doing it for competition training as most tend to do? I've always been interested in Judo, but it just seems that the there is too much willingness to sacrifice one's own balance and "safety" for the sake of scoring a point. Just using one of the randori partners for example. At 1:08, White doesn't even bother to take Blues back (or tries and move on), which could then easily lead to a nice rear naked choke. At 1:15 Blue doesn't bother finishing with a solid pin. And at 1:28 Blue falls on his own arm, which could result in injury if he wasn't on the mat. I know the sport aspect of Judo is huge, but what about Budo? Didn't Kano Sensei develop Judo also as a means to safely practice practical self-defense techniques? That he removed unsafe techniques so that one could train with more resistance, in an "alive" manner as it's now known. That's how I understand it, but I'm not all that well read on the subject. Thanks!
Also, if you try a standing armlock you're getting thrown like 80% of the times. The other 20% your opponent retreats their arm and you still get thrown. Armlocks aren't effective if your opponent can move their body freely.
Love the randori but it kind of weirds me out seeing a candy stripe randori. At my club those that are of that rank wear their black belts when they randori and the red & white belts for instruction.
I’ve started Judo in korea. It has been 4 months now and I was wondering if I should gain more weights. Thank you for your reply decided to eat more cuz you look really fit right now. And I’m enjoying your videos! Learning a lot
@@lyl5960 Its easy to get caught up with being the right weight, what the perfect training regimen is, should i run , should i not. The MOST important thing is consistently training smart while staying healthy.
I dot know about that school the judo black belts only had 1 or 2 set up they know but than the other judo black belts was going for a takedown without setting it up I dot get it judo black belts that not setting up there throws
That black belt fighting the master, he looks more like Greco Roman wrestler. Very strange judo from his part. Plus he was all noise but never achieved anything.
@@Shigashi84 My bad, what I said came off on a wrong tone. What I meant was train more effectively you know? I have a small dojo so we are constantly hitting/falling on each other. NYC real estate will definitely put a damper on things.

IRAM's Wrestling Highlights I trained under E.C.Ahn 9th. Tae Kwon Do in the 80's. We had about the same size room! I think it probably helps actually, because in a competition, you'll be in a larger place. Those walls being close in may actually stimulate muscle memory, of where the boundry of the square is. And also in a real life altercation, you will also have to learn to fall against a wall at different angles, maybe. Hopefully not! Lol Most places train you for competitions, you learn how to take the fall on the mat only! So could be another flip side of the coin to it! Best of both worlds! Just an opinion! Have nice day!

9:03 never thought about using the knee slide to get an underhook, definitely gonna drill this
Ye that was sick, if it was bjj that would've been a great fint to pretend that you are going in for a takedown and get the underhook instead
Penetration shot
Thanks Shintaro! I also enjoy these randori footage.
You are welcome! Will make more in the future.
Man I wish I could go there. Seems like a relaxed, low injury, good time. 😊

Never seen or expected that! I wonder if it is basically a double leg shoot except its Judo rules and the swift, low movement catches people
I agree. Its cool to see a dojo full of guys working out.
Love these randori videos
