Yep, the update wasn't the fix to say the least. ..moreso the band-aid until they get their shit together and push out a solid update which isn't embarrassing to the product they marketed. The new huawei devices, pixels, etc are blowing this out of the water with camera tech currently, which is a damn shame. Just a heads-up about ATT update. Read several reports that update was not fixing autofocus. I received update myself and confirmed video autofocus was actually worse, as in wouldn't focus at all. Some are having success clearing cache in camera, but I was not one of them. I had to clear system cache and now I can say autofocus is much better.
This video is so dumb. The s20 and s20+ never had issues with focus because they both use Dual Focus AF. The Ultra is the one with the focusing issues WHICH i think could only be BARELY addressed via software update. It’s a hardware issue. It’s a very high megapixel count on a small sensor (i know it’s large but still a mobile sensor) PLUS an aperture of 1.8. That makes for a very ‘thin’ plane of focus. You could only do so much via software. Samsung screwed up this one.
Actually, they can improve it a lot through software. As the strategy they are working on to improve the S20U's focus is to use the ToF sensor to assist the focus of the main lens. So, once the software is well-developed, the focus issue can be fixed.
Omg how can you have both phones and not realize the camera sensors are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT and use different autofocus technologies? Even the depth of field and sensor size is different.
Hi! In my experience, I didn't have any auto focus issues since the day I purchased my S20 Ultra, and it may be because of the way I was using it. I take photos of my scale models with a 4.0x zoom, and it's clear as crystal, but since the latest software update, every time I attempt to take pictures of the same subjects, with the same lighting and with same camera settings (PHOTO, 4.0x zoom), it is unable to focus anymore, and my photos look like ones taken by a digicam from a decade ago! Is anyone else experiencing something similar after the software update? Do I have any options to " fix " this?
Clear Camera app cache and then go to factory setting by pressing volume up and power button go to partition cache wipeout and then yes.... Hopefully you camera work properly
Why it took so long for this update to come out, and why a $1400 device didn't work right from the beginning is a real shame. I had to manually install the update since auto-install would never work for me; The camera is much better when foreground items are clearly discernible, but it still has real trouble focusing on items with multiple items - such as a flower or fruit tree. It didn't seem to let me select and area to focus either, however it was so much better than before the update. I came from the OnePlus 7 Pro that had unbelievable focus.
Anyone who owns s20 and are using full screen gestures are you able to use picture in picture on RUclips? If yes then can you please tell me how? Thanks
