can you tell me what software you have on your computer ive been wanting to get one but i dont know which ones are good.
should be problem - i would play them all in D# tuning (SadbutTrue +1 songs like Enter Sandman -1) the midi programming happens in a minute - but its also possible to play them with a E tuning and shift the solos on the frets - but i played them so often that fast runs (like The God that failed) will give you a headache while shifting so you have to practice them again...^^

thats an Ibanez RG7420BP (7 string) with DiMarzio Blaze humbuckers (Steve Vai developed them for his Universe guitar)

He picks most of the notes as u can see and hear. Kirk Hammett usually picks most of the notes in his solos too.
I'm guessing, over time his fingers could just correspond to his picking after practicing a lot.

i use a Guitar-Pro-Software for the midi background so i read the notes from the solos in realtime these notes on that track are just muted :-)

in 1999 the guitar cost:
1700DM = 850€ = 1322US$ with a very good fretboard but they dont build them anymore :-(

I work on a few Megadeth and Dream Theater solos right now - if there is much response i will record the black ablum solos but the Load is out of discussion the solos are nothing compared with the old stuff

whats the difference.. using pick doesnt hurt your finger
there are some satriani figures + whammy bar stuff + "1string shredding" but the pentatonic is evrywhere so his solos are quite similar especially on the killém all and ride the lightning... im a metfan but kirks solos are nothing compared with gilberts petruccis beckers friedmans... cant play them while reading :-)
