- I took the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 out for a day in Hong Kong along with the Motorola Razr+. The Flip 5's much larger outside screen is indeed a game-changer.

I wanted to try the Razor since I'm not a huge fan of Samsung software, but trading in my Flip 4 for 512gb Flip 5 on preorder, my total cost is only $52.43. insane!
Yeah the trade in deals are actually very good. Same with the watch. I ended up getting both.
But 256gb is too small... i feel even 512 is small for now a days
@@jrw1662 Just checked order and it's 512gb. I don't play large games nor keep large videos (other than about 10 movies) on my phone, so meets my storage needs. My 30+ other phones do have SD card support. Peace

Finally get to see both the flips side by side. Wish Razr plus was available in my country but isn’t . Really love the magenta colour but oh well. Pre-ordered the z flip instead. Looking forward to using it. Thanks for the great review !

Thanks for showing them side by side! Hardcore Samsung guy here (phones, Tabs, notebooks, TVs) but Motorola did it right with the Razr+. I want a flip foldable that's small and light when folded but opens to a large, WIDE display when opened and can run any app on the OD out of the box. I'm glad Samsung finally "fixed" the OD (should have been done 3 versions ago) but the phone is still too skinny for me.

i once saw motorola razr ultra vs fold 4 like ,, "wow that big screen and curved outside"... but after seeing z flip 5 in person,,,damn, that flat design on the outside is so sick,, its like see the Ioniq 5 , so futuristic yet so old.. like cyberpunk

Liked the video, but wouldn’t really call it a comparison. 95 percent was just Flip 5 footage, how am I supposed to accurately see how they compare like that 😅 I didn’t see a lot of quality difference in the photos I must say.

Not exactly the same. This will destroy your flip3 on pictures and videos. The lenses may be the same MP, but they're larger, and the software algorithm and the processor are way better.

I have used the razr 2020,2022,also a flip 3,i purchssed razr 40 ultra am happy with it i rarely open it now i do almost everything on the outer screen,im getting over 24h battery life.Its always been about the outer screen for me since 2020 ive used foldables i will never carry a brick again If you buy a razr or flip just use it and enjoy yiur purchase snd font worry about the fanboys and haters... Why dont Americans get a 33w charger with their razr? We do here in Australia..peace..

Why can't I compare a little but focus most of video on flip? The flip is the newer product. I made a whole video on the Razr months ago
Also what more is there to talk about beyond hinge, cameras and outside screen? These phones are bland outside of those factors.

Whilst I’m not sure about the flip my much older Samsung s21 ultra has adaptive battery built into the os which means it learns your usage patterns and can then save battery it does take a few days of gathering usage data but your battery life should improve after a week or so
Surprisingly the Motorola RAZR's camera is slightly better than the Z Flip 5. I'm just impressed.
I feel they are neck and neck. Not much of a difference. I bought the Razr and I'm very happy with my purchase. The phone in my opinion feels very premium. I love that it's still very thin even with the case on. The Flip 5 looks too boxy for me. Razr in my opinion is more sleek looking plus the Magenta color is gorgeous!
Great review. What's the purpose of the 'selfie' camera on the inside screen when you have better cameras and view finder on the outside screen? Can't they remove it and make it cheaper and increase battery size as well?

just a note on the apps on the cover screen: they're basically widgets and not full apps, so app developers can easily make it possible to make their apps available on the cover screen

i can't decide if I want to trade my 14 pro in for the flip5. I'd be doing it for the storage upgrade, I'm currently at 128gb and I could get the 512gb for only $100 when I trade in my phone.
I have preordered it.. coming from a flip4 .. because the larger screen is really an upgrade from the tiny window. Can’t wait to use mine!

3.2 inch on the z flip 5 cover screen is incorrect. It is actually 3.4. Also @6.50, you had mentioned that Z flip 5 only supports fewer apps on the cover screen. That may be true but there’s a workaround by using good lock app. Also, as per Samsung, they will add support for all apps in the next software update.
With the SD8G2, although technically very similar to the SD8+G1, we would still expect maybe 30 mins extra than the Flip 4, the major issue remains, that the battery is relatively small for a phone with all the power-consuming features. So the Flip 5 is not really aimed at power users, more for casual users that maybe do not break 3-4 hours SOT per day.
At £1050 in the UK, for what you get, you are not buying this for value, it is because you want the flip lifestyle. I would easily prefer the S23+ which is now cheaper and has better cameras, longer battery life, better thermals, and ultimately likely to last a lot longer.
My hope is that Samsung will sell a Galaxy Flip 5FE at around £700. A mid-range chip, maybe just one great primary rear camera with a larger battery that will appeal to a new wider audience.

So tired of RUclipsrs rating a phone higher because a benchmark is slightly higher. Nobody cares about benchmarks. You see zero diverence between the two in everyday use. Not like either one are gonna be slow in 2-3 years when they trade it in.

I never saw benchmarks mentioned in this video, but as a generalisation, you are correct, especially with flip phones that are aimed at a target audience that is not spec-chasing. This is more a lifestyle phone than a camera, gaming or multitasking phone.

Nice video! I am tiring of other creator videos where I have no idea if the video is a phone or an expensive $10,000 camera. You shot more normal real-life footage, and made it interesting. That said, I feel the selfie quality of the Flip 5 looks awful if I pay attention to what's on the sides or in the background of you. Very pixelated, lines blur to become a mess. It's absolute garbage. I would never buy this. Excellent and honest job with your video.
Is the middle screen crease more visible on the Flip 5 compared to Razr? Or my eyes are deceiving me?

I just want a smaller compact phone over the biggest got the s22 ultra last year big mistake it's way to big and heavy I'm getting the z flip 5 this month I'm actully really excited for a flip plus it will fit great in my small handbags. You can use goodlock for more apps on the flex window.

I am looking forward to a thorough review. I did preorder the Moto Razr Plus, and I put it through the paces to see if it was a good phone for my daily use. With good overall battery life, it got me through a busy day with moderate to heavy usage with some battery left at the end of the day. I often suffered from some anxiety worrying was I gonna need a charger. I did actually return the Razr as it had a cheap feel and did not give me the feel of a premium product.
I am looking forward to more reviews of the Galaxy Z Flip 5. I do believe this may end up being a disappointment as well. It appears to have a better build quality. However, Samsung seems to have skipped out on and opportunity to actually update with some premium specs and just provide an update vice an actual upgrade.

The Goodlock app makes sure ,All apps can be accessed on the front screen on the flip ! Flip has great customisation through the app. Hope Samsung will directly support all apps soon as promised #flip5 #SamsungUnpacked #samsungzflip5 #sams
The battery life is not that great, but, in your video the phone was at 72% and later on was at 20% after 4,5h of usage (lot of camera shooting). So, it lasted 4,5h using 52% of its battery. So, if it was 100%, would last at least 7h, right? That is a good battery with 3700mAh. A normal usage would make more use of the external screen, so a assume that it would incrase the battery life.
The portion of the external display being blocked by the camera module on the Moto Razr would annoy me. I'm glad Samsung didn't take that approach.

I think Samsung signature on the flip 5 speaks for it. But I prefer the wider aspect ratio of the razr, edging closer towards traditional slab phones these days. And the fact that you can run almost about any app on the razr's cover screen might be a little underrated
Edit: okay you can run any app on the z flip's cover screen by virtue of the Goodlock app. But the fact that the RAZR + can run it natively is a bonus.
I run pokemon sleep on the moto cover screen lol. If it doesn't work like that on the flip 5 seems dangerous to leave the phone unfolded next to your head all night

I like rarz cover screen better. They made the right choice covering the whole screen rather than folder shape on zflip
I agree. Really wanted the razr but t-mobile gave me the flip 5 for free so I couldn't resist
But the slightly smaller external screen on the Flip5 prevents the camera bumps from interfering with the running app. So if there is something you need to tap which is blocked on the Razr+'s external screen by the camera bumps, you are out of luck. Samsung definitely made the right call here.

one request please upload such camera comparison videos for pc users at least 1440p. its not very clear to really see good comparison videos such as this one in 1080p. its all not that differentiable in 1080 and its hard to really see any real difference please. I am a long time subscriber of your channel, I know you do YT for fun/ part time but still I want a little good video quality no 4k just 1440p please.

i think so too. i need to see a test run from 90% at least. it's weird how we started from 72%, super random. the 'protect battery' option caps at 85%.
The crease where the phone folds really shows on the Samsung Galaxy flip 5 but it barely shows on the Motorola

iPhone user here so yeah, call me biased and rage at my pov. But im still not fully sold on the folding phone market. Its cool tech but practically acheives nothing _more_
But thats just it, what i like about the new outside screen and the potential use i see, is that the flip 5 becomes a “less” phone.
Im not a power user by any means. i use a small handful of apps a day and only really use it to watch yt/listen to spotify. I actually prefer small phones due to easier one-handed use and smaller footprint. The outside cover now allows all of the uses I practically would have for 80% of my day, then on that last bit when im home i can open the phone and enjoy my content, but at home id have an ipad/laptop to do those things. So to me its really just a minimalist phone and that does make me interested in the product.
I still dont see this as the future because most ppl dont want smaller, pocketable phones, we just want big phones that last all day. Maybe the fold 5 and later have a better chance, but even then i dont think thats what most ppl want. But this is a fun middle step in tech before ar/vr takes over.

For me, the Flip5 wins hands down. Unlike what the video said, you can run any app you want on the Flip5's external screen. Granted, not out of the box, but you simply have to first install and set up the Good Lock app. Also, the slightly smaller external screen on the Flip5 prevents the camera bumps from interfering with the running app. So if there is something you need to tap which is blocked on the Razr+'s external screen by the camera bumps, you are out of luck.
@@larryb4392 sorry no, refresh rate is way better on the RAZR, inner and outer screen...the outer screen is still more usable than the flip even with goodlock.
these phones with smaller battery endurance could really use a magnetic battery attachment.
Samsung says the Flip 5 will get about the same battery life as the S23. Time will tell. I have an S23 and get through the day with no problem. I also use the Battery Saver Mode, which helps with that. I ordered a Flip 5. If I mostly use the outer screen and keep the Flip 5 on Battery Saver as well, it should do OK.
i've recorded over 400 vlogs using iPhones and Galaxy Phones, this would be a game changer but the battery is worrisome

Nice comparison. I find Samsung phones battery life improves over a few weeks once it learns your usage patterns. At least ut did on my Flip 4.

I think the issue is people want a s23 ultra that flips kinda phone. In reality we get something far less then a base S model phone.

Watching Netflix on the front is not silly and actually makes very good sense. If you're on a plane let's say or in an airport where you can't charge your phone yet, you want to watch something. Utilizing the outside screen will use less battery than the inside screen. That's why they made it that way
